Somehow I really doubt that there are a lot of people making "millions" off stealing toner. Most companies don´t have a lot of toner and don´t order ridiculous amounts of it. Accounting is usually pretty good at seeing excessive purchases too.

I could see someone snagging a cartridge here and there for their home machine, but it´d be pretty hard to get away with "racking up millions". That stuff is noticeably expensive.

Where´s the big money going? The printer companies who sell the stuff. My printer tells me I need knew toner at least a month before I actually need it. I always have the next batch on hand so I have it when it really goes out, but if you follow your printer´s advice, you´ll be losing hundreds of dollars a year (if not thousands).

Have an HP 4L Laser printer that is around 15 years old and has the original toner cartridge. Wish I could say the same for ink jets. Those things come up empty faster than whiskey bottles at a Kennedy family reunion. And they cost plenty.

The cartridge boxes are not small boxes. The security in the building where I worked (Wall Street) would have stopped anyone leaving with "packages."

Kinda like the story of the two guys who worked at the plant for 30 years.

One was the security guard and everyday, the other guy would leave with a wheelbarrow. Guard knew the other guy had to be stealing something.

Both of them retired the same day. As the guy pushes the wheelbarrow past the guard, the guard stops him and says, "Hey, we´ve both been here 30 years and we´re both quitting today. I know you´re stealing something, but I´ve never been able to prove it. Out of curiosity what have you been taking out of here every day?"

The guy smiles, and says "Wheelbarrows."

I can see how it would be easy with younger guys and backpacks today.

Agree, #2. And when the printer starts printing ghostly copies, take the cartridge out, give it a good shake, and put it back in the printer. You´ll get a few more good copies out of it.

There was a recent survey of small business employers who say they didn´t hire anybody last year or plan to hire anybody this year and it was a pretty hefty number. We know small business growth is the backbone of the economy,so it´s no wonder it´s staggering along.This problem here is probably one of the reasons companies aren´t hiring,also due to Obamacare and slews of new regulations. I just don´t think employers want to take a chance on hiring a criminal that could steal them blind

The entire subculture now believes there´s nothing wrong with stealing because the fat cats are pocketing all the money themselves,so you have a right to steal..

The threat of jail no longer concerns these people.I fyou get away easily,stealing something,chances are you´ll take another crack at it.


I remember a woman embezzling million because she had a scratch off/lottery addiction but the most she ever won was 10 grand. If she´d kept the millions she stole,she wouldn´t need a winning lottery.On top of that white collar criminals always get off easier than their violent counterparts.

The point is there´s new slews of addictions compelling people to steal.To make things worse they´re passing laws on honest citizens while the criminal elemnt goes untarnished.
