| Beyond the media fawning over the spectacle of President Barack Obama and outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sitting down for an interview together on 60 Minutes--old rivals, reunited!--there is a message that the president wants to send. Not just the fact that Vice President Joe Biden is not be his first pick for 2016, but also the signal that Republicans ought to forget about a revival in four years: liberalism is here to stay. Republicans seem to have concluded that their overall revival depends on finding the right candidate to win.

Evil tyrant! And what he and the Democrats represent is NOT liberalism--it is LEFTISM. There is nothing liberal about them and we must make that point well known. We should NEVER call these people "liberals", because they are anit-liberal in every way. They just use the word to mislead the public and make ignorant people think that they stand for freedom, liberty, equality, etc. But they actually represent just the opposite. This is the message we need people to hear. The true "liberals" are most of the folks on the right (today´s conservatives) who want a smaller government that the people have control over. The leftists want an overwhelmingly large Federal government that has unlimited power and control over every person´s life. They hate freedom and liberty. They hate the individual. They think we shoukd be their slaves.

Anyway, every time we call them "liberal", we are inadvertently helping them to get over on us. That is why I keep emphasizing the importance of not using the words "liberal", "libs", and "liberalism" with those people. Words are powerful. And the left has been masterful at the art of word manipulation and using words to shape people´s perceptions against us. We must learn the art of communication and persuasion if we are ever to effectively compete against these tyrants.

The 30 Republican Governors and the hundreds of Republican State legislators do not plan to surrender to Obama. Governors McDonnell and Walker made that message very clear at NRI conference this weekend in DC.
William Bennett gave his sage advice to the NRI conference attendees, telling them that the GOP must stop play defense and take the offensive. Bennett also told the story of a football coach who advised his players that the only time they should be looking down is if they are peeing into their shoes.
Paul Ryan also spoke at NRI and indicated that the Republican House has no intention of "surrendering."
Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli told the story of the EPA trying to force Virginia to make $300 million in "improvements" to Accotink Creek near Mount Vernon and Virginia fought the EPA in court and won. The Court was persuaded that rain water is not a pollutant.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says it wants as many as 20 percent of its workers to "telework," use an "alternative work schedule," or do both, in order to "reduce green house gas emissions," decrease "employee stress," and give these government workers more time for "planning and preparing healthy meals." So says one of the HHS "performance measures" detailed in an appendix to the department´s latest strategic plan. HHS´s performance measure "4.D.05" says: "Increase the percent employees on telework or on Alternative Work Schedule." Telework means working from home via phone and computer.

It is most often used by the powerful on anyone less powerful as a symbolic sacrifice. Steven Miller, the now former acting commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, is the latest victim of ritual sacrifice. This week the Obama White House demanded his resignation to demonstrate the president’s “anger” at news that the IRS targeted conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status for added review and slow approval. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable.
