| Football´s first fan isn´t sure he´d let his son play the game, in light of the impact it takes on its players. ´I´m a big football fan, but I have to tell you, if I had a son, I´d have to think long and hard before I let him play football,´ President Obama said. ´And I think that those of us who love the sport are going to have to wrestle with the fact that it will probably change gradually to try to reduce some of the violence,´ Obama said.
|
Comments: In your dreams. If he had a son and he took after his wussy father he wouldn´t even have the option. OTH, if he took after the Mooch that would be a different story. How long before 0bama sticks his nose into the business of the NFL?

The NLF union boss is good friends with Obama and they´re trying to raise the stakes and value of concussion claims against the NFL. Liberals couldn´t care less about football player´s health but when there´s an avenue for a class action suit they´re all over it.
There´s an assumption of risk playing any sport, you shouldn´t be able to sue the organizers of a sport when the risk is inherent in the sport before it was organized.
What if cops, firemen and soldiers started suing the orgs. they belong to when they get injured.Although,I´m sure there´s been many a workman´s comp settlement in some case.

Considering the way Obama throws a baseball, it´s probably for the best that he doesn´t have a son who wants to play football.

even a broken clock is right twice a day.
i have a son and wont let him play football any more now that he is in 7th grade and the kids are getting big enough to do serious damage to each other. he was a quarterback and linebacker and i did love to watch him play. he plays baseball and basketball instead.
i think god did not give 0bama a son for a reason.
also, while i enjoy Rush, he does not have kids and is totally clueless on kids and sports.

No more ´´mean´´ sports allowed in America. Just badminton and perhaps hopscotch. Just don´t swing the badminton racquet too hard - it will upset earth´s equilibrium and change the climate. And chalk for hopscotch must be ´earth friendly´, and made by unionized native peoples groups.

C´mon Obama haters. Once in a while he is correct.
NFL players are not suing for bad knees, elbows, backs or legs. That comes with the territory of playing football.
They are suing because it is alleged that the NFL knew that sending players who were just concussed back into games was extraordinarily dangerous. And if there is proof of this, the owners have what is coming to them.
And nobody is suggesting that the NFL be banned, or marginalized like boxing. But do we really need leagues of 7-year-olds playing tackle football?

Obama aside, the idea has merit. I told my kids, as a physician, I can tell you that football guarantees blown out knees. So, if you want to play tennis, jog, ski or shoot hoops with your kids and grand kids, pick another sport.

First, it´s a stretch to put "Obama" and "think" in the same sentence.
Second, Obama did have a mythical son who played football, who found out playing football was far more safe than attacking a neighborhood watchman who was locked and loaded.
Third, some sports are simply dangerous in some form or fashion, and steps should be taken to minimize the risks. Otherwise, people can get severe brain damage. See "Harry Reid."

Having known a few ex-pro football players, I would guess that they are not "sent" back into the game after having been concussed.
It´s more likely that they continued to choose to play and no one said no. They waved off the coaches and said "I´m fine..."

"Let him?" Aren´t these the same people who want no parental input if teens & pre-teens want birth control or abortions? Who want to keep the parents in the dark as to what leftie ideas they are teaching in the public schools? And want pediatricians to privately question kids about firearms in the home? So only when it comes to sports, the parents can have a say, is that it?

In 2007, then Senator Barack Obama appeared on CNN´s Larry King Live and called on U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign. Obama said Gonzales was acting more like the president´s attorney than the people´s attorney and viewed himself as an "enabler of the administration." "Well, I voted against Alberto Gonzales confirmation for precisely the reason we are seeing now. I said this on the floor of the senate, that although he seemed to be a capable attorney, he seemed to conceive his role as being the president´s attorney instead of being the people´s attorney," Obama said.

The way to prevent abortionists like convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell from occurring again is to build more Planned Parenthood clinics, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said at a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on Thursday about legislation that would prevent abortion after 20 weeks nationwide. “I would urge my colleagues to think about the extent to which he, Dr. Gosnell, represented the poor quality of health care services available in poorer communities,” Nadler said at the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice hearing. “We should be working to make sure that high quality

House Speaker John A. Boehner on Thursday flatly ruled out chances of the House passing the Senate’s immigration bill, saying his chamber will debate its own bill instead. The Ohio Republican and his top lieutenants in the party issued a joint statement that seemed designed to tamp down some of the momentum behind the Senate bill, which emerged from a committee on a bipartisan 13-5 vote this week, and to stake out a House GOP position. “While we applaud the progress made by our Senate colleagues, there are numerous ways in which

During friendly questioning from Rep. Hank “I fear that Guam will capsize!” Johnson in Congress last week, Attorney General Eric Holder offered the following statement. In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material. This is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy. He made that statement before the facts about the sweep on Fox News’ James Rosen were known. Since then, it’s come to light that Holder himself approved the subpoena that, among other things, named Rosen as a criminal co-conspirator.

As the saying goes, scratch a liberal and you’ll find a tyrant underneath. NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo is but the latest example. He shoved a very restrictive and ill-considered gun law through the state legislature in the dead of night. Among its flaws, the law criminalized police officers who tote firearms with magazines that hold more than seven rounds. Sheriffs around the state have objected to the law. Cuomo summoned them to the state capitol under what appears to be a false pretext, and used the meeting to threaten them into silence. Cuomo invited

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. For all those who wonder what it is about Ailes that endears his people to him — and that makes him such a good interviewee for any media reporter lucky enough to get an audience
