WASHINGTON- Buying your own health insurance will never be the same. This fall, new insurance markets called exchanges will open in each state, marking the long-awaited and much-debated debut of President Barack Obama´s health care overhaul. The goal is quality coverage for millions of uninsured people in the United States. What the reality will look like is anybody´s guess - from bureaucracy, confusion and indifference to seamless service and satisfied customers. Being run by the government, there´s no doubt what it´ll look like. It´ll be identical to what the offspring of the Labyrinth of King Minos mating with Medus would look like. A hideous snake pit that will defy exit once entered.

Scuse the typing. That should have been Medusa.

Of course, as an AP article, we know every word is a lie from beginning to end. The goal, as always, is the complete financial destruction of the country, the death of the Constitution and the enslavement of a free people.

The "reality" of this trap, when it finally sets in, will be brutal and ugly. The only way out will be like Auschwitz, up the chimney.

Wow. I didn´t realize it was going to be so wonderful. All sunshine, lollipops and roses! I can´t wait to get on two year waiting list for a hip replacement. Or wait 3 hours to see a doctor not of my choosing for five minutes. s/o

Let´s see - run by the government? Your healthcare will be provide by doctors with the personality of postal workers, by nurses with hearts of IRS agents, with scheduling by AMTRACK, all watched over by administrators from the TSA, and budgets controlled by the same military procurement staff that brought us $700 dollar toilet seats; and all of them unionized. What could go wrong?

"The government will help many middle-class households pay their premiums.."

CORRECTION:

"Other taxpayers will help many middle-class households pay their premiums.."

As usual the AP (Associated Propaganda) gets the facts wrong. A lot of states have refused to set up the insurance exchanges, but hey let´s not let the facts get in way when AP is pushing the democrat communist agenda.

Most people would voluntarily buy insurance if the price was right. They should have just came up with a voucher program on a sliding scale.
The cost is just one part, they´re going to use this to manipulate all kinds of health behavior. To me anyway, gays should pay higher premiums because they´re a high risk group for spreading AIDS which is costing government insurance a fortune but of course there would be a huge backlash, just like if they try to manipulate poor people´s eating habits, as we´re seeing in NY with the soda limit.

Punish whitey and leave the rest of us alone.

Obamacare will look exactly like Benghazi.

Reply 10 - Posted by: oh-heck, 1/27/2013 4:15:17 PM     (No. 9142757)

Consider a similar four-person family making $35,000. They´d get a $10,742 tax credit toward the $12,130 annual premium. They´d have to pay $1,388, about 4 percent of their income, or about $115 a month.

As poster 7 suggests, if the States don´t set up the exchanges, there are no subsidies. How does that $1000 per month premium look now? These premium estimates were before the mandate was found unconstitutional. How many people are going to pay that price when they can wait until they are sick and then be covered? The federal high risk pool has been hugely undersubscribed but has still managed to cost more than twice the average of the states´ high risk pools.

The only positive element is the thought of all those liberal 20 somethings freaking out when the charges hit their paychecks.

And hidden way down in the sick, sick bill is the fact that if you are a smoker your premiums are almost doubled. Look it up.

Europe´s largest economy Germany, which has been criticized for not doing enough to help struggling euro zone countries, has topped a poll as the world´s most popular country. The survey carried out for the BBC, polled 26,000 people in 25 countries, and asked them to rate 16 countries and the European Union, as a whole, on whether their influence on the world was mainly positive or negative. The IRS scandal smoking gun?

COLLEGE PARK, Md- In the Internal Revenue Service targeting scandal and others, Washington and the media are obsessed with the question: What did the president know and when did he know it? That misses the point. Barack Obama´s presidency is much more damaging to the nation than the mistakes of subordinates now coming to light. Most recently, we learned Obama met with anti-Tea Party IRS Union President Colleen Kelley just before the tax agency began targeting conservative groups. Is that the smoking gun? Was the president in on the plan to harass opponents of big government?

WASHINGTON - Three days of congressional hearings about the Internal Revenue Service´s targeting of conservative political groups have lawmakers looking for ways to widen an investigation that has so far been largely contained within the tax collection agency. More than 11 hours of testimony and an inspector general´s report have revealed plenty of wrongdoing within the IRS. But so far, investigators have not produced evidence that anyone outside the IRS authorized the targeting, or even knew about it before a few weeks ago. They will keep trying. Three congressional committees are investigating the matter, and the leaders of those committees

A Wall Street Journal editorial socks it to the president and his hands-off management style. Every day brings new revelations about who knew what about the IRS targeting conservative groups during President Obama´s re-election campaign, but the overall impression is of a vast federal bureaucracy run amok. While the White House continues to peddle the story of a driverless train wreck, taxpayers are being treated to a demonstration of the dangers of an unwieldy and unaccountable administrative state. Look, Ma, no hands! In his press events, Mr. Obama has said that while he learned about the Cincinnati rogues

It could have been a match made in tax haven. A young Michelle Obama once dated the inspector general who recently uncovered the IRS scandal, according to a bombshell report. The future First Lady, then known as Michelle Robinson, reportedly dated J. Russell George, the current IRS top watchdog responsible for investigating the widening trouble at the tax agency, while the two were at Harvard Law School in the 1980s, the National Journal reported. The power pair were both members of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and graduated together in 1988, and at the very least, shared a few

LONDON- Two British men of Nigerian descent accused of hacking a soldier to death on a London street in revenge for wars in Muslim countries were known to security services, a source close to the investigation said Thursday. One man, filmed calmly justifying the killing as he stood by the body holding a knife and meat cleaver in bloodied hands, was named by acquaintances as 28-year-old Londoner Michael Adebolajo - a British-born convert to radical Islam. So frenzied was the attack, some witnesses thought they tried to behead the victim.

Ford Motor Co. (F) will stop making cars in Australia, nine decades after founder Henry Ford first began building Model Ts in the country, as a surge in the currency undermines the local industry’s ability to compete with imports. Ford Australia faces costs double those in Europe and four times those of its Asian divisions, local President Bob Graziano told reporters today. He announced the loss of 1,200 jobs from October 2016 at two plants in Melbourne and Geelong.Australia’s three car makers have struggled as a 27 percent rise in the local dollar against the yen

Former Rep. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy.
