Four shootings -- two of them double homicides -- and a stabbing left 7 people dead Saturday, authorities said. In what appeared to be the last homicide of the day, a 32-year-old man was fatally stabbed about 11:50 p.m. in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side, police said. The stabbing happened during a domestic argument in the 2500 block of East 73rd Street, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

Prohibition Chicago was a peaceful paradise compared to what Rham has going on. Just another day in the brokest city, in the brokest state, in the brokest nation in history.

City/County government just has not yet enacted the right combination of anti-gun/knife/weapons laws. Also waiting to be enacted are proper anti-crime laws. Passing the appropriate laws is the answer to all this murder and meyham. Eventually the politicians will hit upon the right combination of laws and peace and brotherly love will prevail. s/o

Do the "journalists" at the tribune, or any broadcast outlets in Chicago ever perform their duty by going beyond simply keeping a clinical running score of the murders, or do they just blame the guns? Do they dare ask the mayor about efforts to crack down on gang shootings such as a project exile law to slap thugs with a manadatory 10 year semtence for using an illegal firearm in a crime? The answers are no. These are rhetorical questions because the media in Chicago is an arm of the democrat party who might lose access to the democrat elite cocktail circuit, or much worse, If they pressed little rahm for answers.

Put Rahm in a patrol car and have him do a ride-along to see what´s really up every night in Chicago. Sitting up in his cushy lair he hasn´t a clue and probably doesn´t actually want one. An emergency ignored is an emergency foiled.

One was stabbed to death. If it saves just one life it would be worth it: let´s ban knives.

No big deal, I am sure all of the guns were registered and the knife was not an assault knife, but at this point what difference does it make?

This just proves that the gun ban is beginning to work, because they had to resort to knives in some of the murders!

Reply 22 - Posted by: neanderthal, 1/27/2013 12:43:42 PM     (No. 9142408)

This foolishness would stop if we started publicly flogging people who commit weapons mayhem until they sag into unconsciousness. About three such events in south Chicago would result in lots of discarded guns ending up in trashcans, never to be claimed by anyone.

Name another country, other than Africa, whose immigrants come here, tear up great neighborhoods and homes, ruin businesses, drop out of school too stoopid to learn much of our culture, refuse to assimilate, and then proceed to murder each other at an alarming rate.

Back in the 1920´s there was an Idlewild project building bridges near Ellis Island, and the pay rates were posted for new immigrants to see and hopefully sign up to work...here´s what that sign said, and you´ll see why this Italian guy is still p.o.´d at the liars in the ass-press enemedia for coddling one group over another!

Whites $1.30 an hour
Blacks $1.20 an hour
Italians $1.10 an hour

I´m still upset about THAT, and the fact that they lie in public schools about Columbus being a crazy genocidal maniac who was lost at sea, yet Martin Luther King, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson, three black African shakedowm artists, are supposed to be "revered" by the low-info school kids who are subject to this brainwashing every damn day in schools across America, right in neighborhoods where blacks murder other blacks on a daily basis--Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Houston, Philadelphia, New York, Pittsburgh,Detroit, Gary, Indiana.... and on and on....such lovely wonderful people, those violent animal murderers! What other group does THAT?

I siggest a test market of Obama´s gun control, right here in Chicago! See how effective their plans are. No, gun control is about confiscation. period.

All they have to do to curb gun violence is increase any gun crime to a federal felony, with stiff mandatory sentences. Done.

But the atty lobby won´t let them.

Which United States president will go down in history as the greatest humanitarian to have served in the office? The Republican Herbert Hoover is often known as the "Great Humanitarian" for his work administering famine relief in post-World War I Europe (and Bolshevik Russia) in the 1920s — but he did all that before he actually became president. Others might make the case for Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the Democrat who succeeded Hoover in the White House, whose New Deal initiatives relieved poverty and sickness on a grand scale within the United States.

There was an 1854 Lefaucheux pinfire pistol carbine on display, as well as an 1876 .22-caliber derringer in a glass box. But neither was for sale. It wouldn´t have mattered if they were. The gun enthusiasts who showed up in Rosemont on Friday for what was billed as the first-ever Chicagoland Gun Show didn´t seem interested in gawking at antique pistols. Some wanted to buy high-powered rifles, semi-automatic handguns and high-capacity magazines. But there wasn´t a single gun dealer at the show, only a Chicago collector who said he was there to show off his collection.

Springfield — Citing inaction on pensions, a prominent Wall Street bond-rating agency downgraded Illinois’ bond rating Friday, making the state the nation’s worst credit risk. The move by Standard & Poor’s to rate Illinois’ bonds at A- with a negative outlook comes as the state is preparing to go out on the market Wednesday with a $500 million bond issue. With the new lowered rating, Illinois eclipsed California as the least creditworthy state in the country in Standard & Poor’s eyes and could face higher borrowing costs. “We assessed what the pension fund status is,

Years of overhaul efforts have done little to improve schools in Illinois, and a comprehensive and sustained program to change how children are educated in the state´s public schools is needed, leaders of an education reform group said Tuesday. "We´re going to have to hit this with a 2-by-4," said Robin Steans, executive director of Advance Illinois. According to a report released by the organization Tuesday, only one-third of Illinois students complete fourth grade proficient in reading; the same percentage of students is academically prepared at the start of high school;

Former Rep. The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.

There’s really no reason for the press to suggest that the recent slew of scandals involving the Obama administration — Benghazi, the AP phone-record seizure, the snooping in James Rosen’s e-mail, the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, and so on — are a confusing jumble. There is a very clear thread running through all of the administration’s actions: The U.S. deputy chief of mission in Libya, Gregory Hicks, says that he was told not to speak to a member of Congress about Benghazi without a State Department lawyer present, that he received a phone call from Hillary Clinton’s
