| RUSH: Linebacker, Baltimore Ravens. I hope I pronounce his last name right. Brendon Ayanbadejo. He has long been an advocate for gay rights and gay marriage, and he´s a little unique. He´s an athlete who has joined a political cause. As we´ve discussed on many occasions, athletes stay away from this stuff. Athletes earn a lot of money. I don´t know if this guy does, but a lot of people earn money via endorsements, so you don´t want to anger a segment of the population.

RUSH: According to latest CNN poll, Obama´s job approval is down from 53% in May to 45% now. Approval of his handling of the economy is down 2% to 42%. On foreign affairs Obama´s down five points to 44. On illegal immigration, Obama´s disapproval is up to 56. And only 49% of respondents say Obama is honest or trustworthy. You know, this polling data, this is huge, folks. We haven´t seen this before. We have not seen this kind of intense evidence of Obama losing approval, losing popularity, and losing support.

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. It is understood that a contingency plan is in place for the unlikely event that an attempt would be made on the President’s life. The Secret Service also have diplomatic immunity which will allow them to shoot to kill a would-be assassin without fear of prosecution. As part of the “evacuation route” plan, they would be able to spirit the President by chopper to one of the carriers where a jet is on standby to take him back to the United States.
