Jindal: GOP must
stop being ´stupid party´

Charlotte, NC - Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal called on the Republican Party to "stop being the stupid party" on Thursday as GOP leaders promised fundamental changes to help stave off future losses. In the keynote address at the Republican National Committee´s winter meeting, Jindal said the GOP doesn´t need to change its values but "might need to change just about everything else we are doing." "We´ve got to stop being the stupid party. It´s time for a new Republican Party that talks like adults," he said. "We had a number of Republicans damage the brand this year with offensive

Comments:
When you are young, bright and a rising star, you can say this. Now, Bobby, what will you do to insure that Tea Party like conservatives in the GOP are replacing the RINOs in our midst?

My suggestion. Don´t try to fill our tent with every kind "special interest and minority" group, but rather offer them a "brand" that they will want to be a part of. Capitalism, with less taxes [restrictions] and government interference comes to mind, as a start. Oil, gas, coal and fracking jobs.

As a Republican who voted for Romney and gave many GOP candidates a sizable amount of money during the last election cycle, I have only one thing to say to Mr. Jindhal. ´IT´S TOO LATE.´ The GOP will not change because it doesn´t want to change.

Listen to Jindal. The rape comments in the last election cycle threw away votes. The 47% comment in the last election cycle threw away votes. The lambasting Colin Powell now is throwing away votes.

Jindal is correct. Talk about values and how those values relate to people. Stop calling people names. Stop telling them that if they don´t agree with you 100%, then they belong with the other party. They will take your ´advice´...and go vote for the other party.

How is lambasting Powell throwing away votes? Powell is a democrat and as far as I am concerned democrats are the enemy and we blast the enemy every chance we get (isn´t that what the enemy does to us) - our last 2 presidential candidates refused to do this and had their a**es handed to them on election day.

I know Newt is damaged goods and he could never be elected to national office again, but to reject what he has to say in practical and easily understood terms is, as Bobby Jindal says, "stupid!"

I thought many of his comments during the debates made more sense than those of ANY of his opponents. Romney thought that being polite, respectful and logical would work -- Newt knows better!

And the GOP refused to support two "shoe in" candidates because of quasi-accurate comments that were badly misconstrued by the demned. The GOP cost US two badly needed Senate seats.

Akin in Missouri and Mourdock in Indiana were both easy wins until the GOP dropped their support. We needed those Senate seats. Now that was "stupid."

Jindal is...right.

AND:
...there is no leadership.
Boehner is useless.
McConnell, too.

Reply 7 - Posted by: Sunhan65, 1/25/2013 8:55:47 AM     (No. 9138267)

Ronald Reagan became President because Democrats voted for him. He understood that Democrat politicians and the liberal media were his real enemies. So he undermined and out-maneuvered them--by persuading Democrats to vote for him. One interesting fact about political life in America is that conservative ideas are more popular that Republican politicians. Newt Gingrich had no money, zero establishment support, and a U-haul full of personal baggage. But he understood how to manipulate liberal media to communicate a message. Newt became the front runner because he understood, and could convincingly communicate, conservative ideas. The Republican Party had other ideas, and we lost. Again.

Now the GOP has decided to beat itself up. Whenever the self hate and beating is over, I hope they might beat up democrats for a while.

Boehner is doing a fine job. I´m not a Jindal fan, but he´s right; budgetary brinkmanship is not going to get GOP votes in 2014. Let our Dear Leader, Lord of Flies, own his command and control alchemist economy. Let him own the debt. Let the GOP have the intelligence to tactfully tie it around the Donkies necks´. Let the GOP fight and defeat them on the structural issues like guns and amnesty. The economy can be fixed in 2014. The Bill of Rights and amnesty are forever.

What #8 and #9 said. BTW, Dear Gov. Jindal: With all due respect, what the GOP REALLY needs is for OTHER gopers to STOP calling Republicans the "stupid party"! Name calling has been perfected by demonrats who use it very well against Conservatives already and do not need any help..Sincerely...

President Obama’s speech on Thursday was the most important statement on counterterrorism policy since the 2001 attacks, a momentous turning point in post-9/11 America. For the first time, a president stated clearly and unequivocally that the state of perpetual warfare that began nearly 12 years ago is unsustainable for a democracy and must come to an end in the not-too-distant future. “Our systematic effort to dismantle terrorist organizations must continue,” Mr. Obama said in the speech at the National Defense University. “But this war, like all wars, must end. That’s what history advises.

Hong Kong - The new H7N9 bird flu virus can be transmitted between mammals not only via direct contact but also in airborne droplets, and may be capable of spreading from person to person, Chinese and American researchers have found. (Snip) "The findings suggest that the possibility of this virus evolving further to form the basis of a future pandemic threat cannot be excluded," said the research team, led by bird flu expert and microbiologist Yi Guan. The virus can also infect pigs, but could not be transmitted from pig to pig or from pigs to other animals, the study showed, although

Washington - Across-the-board budget cuts have created Furlough Friday in Washington and elsewhere, as the one-day closing of four federal agencies forced an unpaid day off for 115,000 workers. Employees at the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Internal Revenue Service and the Office of Management and Budget stayed home on Friday. The furlough affects about 5 percent of the federal workforce, according to Cory Bythrow, communications director at the National Federation of Federal Employees, a union representing government

The rugged landscape created by volcanic eruptions and tectonic plate shifts in east and south Africa millions of years ago may be what prompted our human ancestors to start walking on two legs, a study said Friday. The research published in the journal Antiquity challenges the commonly-held theory that early hominins (members of the broad human family) were forced onto two feet on the ground because climate change reduced the number of trees they lived in. Annapolis, Md. - President Obama used a commencement speech before Naval Academy graduates on Friday to urge them to follow an “inner compass” and to warn that rising numbers of sexual assaults in the military threatened to erode America’s faith in the armed forces. The president praised the military as the nation’s “most trusted institution,” but took note of the recent cases in which service members have been charged with sexual assault. He said those people “threaten the trust and discipline which makes our military strong.” “We need your honor, that inner compass that guides

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose
