NRA boycott kills
outdoors show that
banned assault weapons

Washington Examiner, by Paul Bedard

A massive boycott sparked by the NRA and other gun-rights groups outraged that the nation´s largest outdoors show banned the exhibition of assault weapons has caused the show´s organizers to abruptly cancel the week-long event in Harrisburg, Pa. The successful boycott was the biggest demonstration of support by the outdoors industry and outdoorsmen yet against gun control efforts being pushed in Washington and in several states. "Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone, for now, the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show given the controversy surrounding its decision to limit the sale or display of modern sporting rifles

Yet another snarky columnist gets it wrong. The Sandy Hook murderer used only handguns during his rampage. Police found the Bushmaster in his car.

I am sure the hotel and restaurant owners of Harrisburg are ready to horsewhip the organizers of this event.

Nope, he used the AR-15. What was found in the car was a shotgun.

Living in this Central PA area (30 miles away) I can tell you this was a HUGE event for everyone from exhibitors to vendors to attendes.

I am proud that the industry and allies pulled out because of the organizer´s infantile actions!

Now, why are the Brits running the show anywho???

It wasn´t just the NRA. I have read that upwards of 300 vendors withdrew in protest. I don´t think the NRA has the kind of clout to force that if the vendors weren´t inclined to do so. Its not like the NRA is a union or anything.

NRA had little to do with this (I am a lifetime member).

It was many dozens of vendors (including the likes of Cabelas) that took a stand and pulled out.

This show has been going on since 1955.

Kudos to Trop Gun Shop, Kinsey Outdoors, Lancaster Archery, and Sportsman Shop, all of Lancaster County who started the ball rolling. Some had over $10,000 invested in their displays. Cabela´s and the NRA glommed onto the snowball and finished off the show.

The video of the police removing a long gun from the car trunk was that of a pump shotgun and not an AR15.

Will some of you please post a link to a credible news story that the little punk did not use an AR15.

If you can, that would be great news for me.

Just for a shortcut, here is the list of vendors who dropped out, backing the boycott:

I note that Cabela´s IS on the list. I also note that Bass Pro Shops, Dick´s, and Gander Mountain are NOT. Looks like I will be spending my money at Cabela´s from now on. Bye to the rest.

It is disappointing to see that Remington is not on the list of exhibitors that backed out, but perhaps they were not an exhibitor in the first place. Don´t see Stag Arms, either, which is my preferred semi-automatic .223, because it is available left handed. Stag is too busy selling guns to attend, I am sure.

I´m fortunate enough to live in an exceeding --- for now --- safe community. I haven´t even shot a gun since I was in Vietnam. But I have been a NRA member/supporter for years. Glad to see the NRA exercise some muscle here. We´re going to need such strong organizations to go up against the Obama regime´s fascists hellbent on decreasing and removing our liberties one by one, at every opportunity.

And Obama would tell us it is all for the greater good. China runs on the greater good, and individual liberties be damned.

From the Harrisburg area.....Just for the record: The NRA didn´t back our of the event until Wednesday. The others that withdrew started earlier, about Sunday. if I remember correctly. Grassroots on the move again. Many small vendors began this thing and then there was a groundswell!Who said we were dead...........

What I´d like to see now is which guns were actually used, and the quantity from each, if that can be determined.

Between the Glock and the Sig you have the possibility of 30 rounds in their two magazines.

Don´t fall for the secondary arguement and let the truth be known. It was not the weapons; it was the creep who used them. We play right into the lefties´ hands when we try to argue against the facts.

Regulation Nation: Breweries fight back

A fight is brewing between American beer makers and the federal government over happy hour ... for cows. For centuries, brewers have given or sold the leftover grain from the brewing process to local ranchers and dairy farmers for cattle feed. But new regulations proposed by the Food and Drug Administration threaten to end that relationship. "The whole brewing community was shocked about it," said Josh Deth, co-owner of Revolution Brewing in Chicago, Ill. Deth, whose title is "Chairman of the Party," says it´s always been a great deal for both sides. The ranchers get the grain, and the brewers get those leftovers

In a stunning admission, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy revealed to House Science, Space and Technology Committee chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX) that the agency neither possesses, nor can produce, all of the scientific data used to justify the rules and regulations they have imposed on Americans via the Clean Air Act. In short, science has been trumped by the radical environmentalist agenda. The admission follows the issuance of a subpoena by the full Committee last August. It was engendered by two years of EPA stonewalling, apparently aimed at preventing the raw data cited by EPA as the scientific foundation

As eastern Ukraine descends into a state of chaos and seeming anarchy, the specter of an invasion by Russia ticks ever upward. President Vladimir Putin has demanded a neutral and federated Ukraine, one that would be vulnerable to the Kremlin´s coercion and might one day be partitioned. But with masked, armed pro-Russian demonstrators occupying government buildings in the eastern cities of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kharkiv -- and tens of thousands of Russian troops just across the border -- the ante has been upped considerable. But for all the justifiable fear that Putin is contemplating sending Russian troops into Ukraine, doing

The "war on women" political slogan is in fact a war against common sense. It is a statistical fraud when Barack Obama and other politicians say that women earn only 77 percent of what men earn -- and that this is because of discrimination. It would certainly be discrimination if women were doing the same work as men, for the same number of hours, with the same amount of training and experience, as well as other things being the same. But study after study, over the past several decades, has shown repeatedly that those things are not the same. Constantly repeating the "77

Rush Limbaugh and other conservatives have expressed bewilderment over CBS’s abandonment of the “American Heartland” by choosing Colbert to replace Letterman. Ed Driscoll has contrasted the pick with the Letterman and Leno succession battle. But the real lesson of that battle is that while Leno won on performance, beating Letterman in the ratings, Letterman won on image, retiring as an honored figure, despite his abusive behavior, while Leno was booed out the door.

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)
