| A massive boycott sparked by the NRA and other gun-rights groups outraged that the nation´s largest outdoors show banned the exhibition of assault weapons has caused the show´s organizers to abruptly cancel the week-long event in Harrisburg, Pa. The successful boycott was the biggest demonstration of support by the outdoors industry and outdoorsmen yet against gun control efforts being pushed in Washington and in several states. "Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone, for now, the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show given the controversy surrounding its decision to limit the sale or display of modern sporting rifles

Yet another snarky columnist gets it wrong. The Sandy Hook murderer used only handguns during his rampage. Police found the Bushmaster in his car.

Living in this Central PA area (30 miles away) I can tell you this was a HUGE event for everyone from exhibitors to vendors to attendes.
I am proud that the industry and allies pulled out because of the organizer´s infantile actions!
Now, why are the Brits running the show anywho???

It wasn´t just the NRA. I have read that upwards of 300 vendors withdrew in protest. I don´t think the NRA has the kind of clout to force that if the vendors weren´t inclined to do so. Its not like the NRA is a union or anything.

NRA had little to do with this (I am a lifetime member).
It was many dozens of vendors (including the likes of Cabelas) that took a stand and pulled out.
This show has been going on since 1955.

Kudos to Trop Gun Shop, Kinsey Outdoors, Lancaster Archery, and Sportsman Shop, all of Lancaster County who started the ball rolling. Some had over $10,000 invested in their displays. Cabela´s and the NRA glommed onto the snowball and finished off the show.

The video of the police removing a long gun from the car trunk was that of a pump shotgun and not an AR15.
Will some of you please post a link to a credible news story that the little punk did not use an AR15.
If you can, that would be great news for me.

It is disappointing to see that Remington is not on the list of exhibitors that backed out, but perhaps they were not an exhibitor in the first place. Don´t see Stag Arms, either, which is my preferred semi-automatic .223, because it is available left handed. Stag is too busy selling guns to attend, I am sure.

I´m fortunate enough to live in an exceeding --- for now --- safe community. I haven´t even shot a gun since I was in Vietnam. But I have been a NRA member/supporter for years. Glad to see the NRA exercise some muscle here. We´re going to need such strong organizations to go up against the Obama regime´s fascists hellbent on decreasing and removing our liberties one by one, at every opportunity.
And Obama would tell us it is all for the greater good. China runs on the greater good, and individual liberties be damned.

Grassroots on the move again. Many small vendors began this thing and then there was a groundswell!Who said we were dead...........

What I´d like to see now is which guns were actually used, and the quantity from each, if that can be determined.
Between the Glock and the Sig you have the possibility of 30 rounds in their two magazines.

Mark Krikorian is tapping the earpiece of his glasses — into the center of his right eye. (Snip) In Krikorian’s world view, there is good immigration — the kind that happened long ago. And there is bad immigration — the kind that happens now. There are immigrants who melt into a place and let it melt into them, and there are immigrants who inhabit a place without allowing it to inhabit them. “America has outgrown mass immigration,” he says. Krikorian doesn’t control any votes in the immigration fight that is consuming Congress,

A report released on Tuesday by the National Council on Teacher Quality finds that U.S. teacher training is “an industry of mediocrity” that produces teachers without a clue. “The results were dismal,” said Kate Walsh, president of the bipartisan research group. Walsh told Reuters that new teachers "don´t know how to teach reading, don´t know how to master a classroom, don´t know how to use data." (Snip) Several colleges attempted to thwart the study. Some even tried to block the Council from obtaining data about their teacher training programs.

Thanks to a John Podhoretz tweet (by the way, if you don’t follow him, you should. His Twitter feed is constantly engaging and insightful), I came across a horrifying, sad article by blogger and career advice columnist Penelope Trunk. It chronicles her two abortions — her first when she was in the midst of a professional volleyball career (it was relatively late-term) and the second when her post-volleyball career was “soaring.” Before the first abortion, she learned she was pregnant relatively late — 14 weeks in.

He didn´t think he would give a speech. For quite some time, Roy Costner IV was second among his classmates, and didn´t realize an extra class raised his grade point average enough for him to be the valedictorian of Liberty High School´s Class of 2013. But when the honor was bestowed on him, and he was asked to give the traditional valedictory speech, Costner didn´t want to waste this opportunity to acknowledge the most important influence in his life: his Christian faith.

During his radio show on Friday, Rush Limbaugh told his listeners, “I think abortion is at the root of so much that has and is going wrong in this country.” The conservative host went on to discuss that the reason why amnesty is essential to the liberal agenda is because abortion has, since Roe v. Wade in 1973, wiped out millions of potential taxpayers. The Democrat Party, Limbaugh said, has turned to amnesty as a means to ensure a “permanent underclass” in order to continue its image as the party of big government entitlements.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." Five months into his second term, allies and enemies are as confounded as ever about who President Obama really is. Is he the dyed-in-the-wool liberal that his biggest supporters and critics suggest? Or is he a pragmatic, even cynical, politician who cares more for his popularity than taking risks for his ideological goals or living up to his rhetoric? Even in the short period since his reelection, Obama has provided evidence to support conflicting interpretations. His efforts to pass immigration reform, the unsuccessful push for stricter gun controls and tax hikes on high earners buttress the case for Obama-as-ideologue.

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
