The Very Rev. Gary Hall, dean of the National Cathedral in Washington, said Thursday morning that "people of faith" should come together to fight for gun control against the "gun lobby." In his opening remarks at a press conference on gun control organized by California Democrat Dianne Feinstein, Hall spoke about the influence of the so-called gun lobby in Washington. "Now, everyone in this city seems to live in terror of the gun lobby," Hall said. "But I believe the gun lobby is no match for the cross lobby." Watch the video below:

I guess the very rev hall doesn´t read the Bible or know what is in it.
there is this one verse where Jesus tells his disciples, “But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” (Luke 22:36 KJV)

The sword he was talking about was the roman short sword, the premier hand held weapon of the day, this would be equated to an "assault weapon" trying to be banned now

This is the same democrat party which is attacking mainstream religion and religious people on a daily basis. These communists have no shame. It´s all about power.

They could shoot us by the dozens with these same weapons, and all the while call it "doing the Lord´s work". Jesus said as much.

No one and I do mean no one should "register" their firearms when the government demands it. Tell them nothing. Confiscation follows shortly after you "register". Do not surrender your firearms when they demand it.

Would the Jews have been slaughtered by the Nazis if they had been armed and resisted? Would the millions of Ukrainians who were starved to death by Stalin have suffered if they had been armed and resisted? Would Pol Pot have been able to murder millions of Cambodians if they had been armed and resisted?

Do not register your arms. Do not surrender your arms. Do not allow the government to turn you into a peasant begging for your life.

#10 one, what does your statement have to do with the topic and two, our government was founded upon the principles of God. No where in the constitution is there any words that prohibit the free exercise of religion, the only words about religion are against a state run religion which is what you are promoting going against the very constitution. trolls you got to just wonder sometimes

It´s obvious that Poster #12 gets it. I mean really gets it. We all need to have that passion if we are to survive and protect the 2nd Amendment.

What is going to happen when we have nationwide turmoil, when (not if) our economy collapses? What will we do if there are food riots? Zippy and his communist ilk know that they have set the table for these events to come by creating this massive debt and destroying the American economy. People are scared when there are no jobs and no food.

Zippy wants us to go to him and TSA (domestic army) to save us. They will choose who to save and not who to save if they have the guns and we don´t. If you think he will save the suburbs, Texas, fly-over country, etc. think again.

This is the same Episcopal Church whose national seminary rector cavalierly declared (loudly, and three times) "abortion is a blessing and our work is not finished" at her installation ceremony.

We´ve seen how they are willing to treat defenseless babies in their mother´s womb. I take that as an indication of how much confidence WE can have in their leadership after they´ve manged to render the whole population defenseless against authoritarian socialism.

#12 is right. And after they took the guns from the civilians, often peasantry, they had to return for the pitchforks and other farm implements which were weilded as weapons.

The point is to completely subdue anyone who MIGHT resist, oppose.

EVERY tyrant disarms the populace because he is totalitarian, he can not tolerate resistance to the exercise of his power over ALL spheres of life.

Yes, #2. "This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men" (Mark 7:6-8).

I agree, #5. It bothers me that flawed humans elevate themselves with religious titles such as reverend. It is worse when even reverend isn´t enough and they choose to be called "most high", "very reverend" and the like.

Even the apostles, who were chosen by Christ, admonished people not to bow before them. [´Stand up; I myself am also a man´" (Acts 10:25,26).]

Maybe they should go into the poorest neighbor hood in Washington and see if the residents there "fear the gun lobby." I guess very few of them attend Mr. Hall´s church, since he believes "everyone" fears the gun lobby. What is the "cross lobby?" Crosses at one time were very prominent in my state at KKK rallies. Did they not teach him at seminary that the cross is a pagan symbol used by Christians to remind us of our redeemer´s death for our salvation?

Vice President Joe Biden really did get ahead of President Barack Obama on accepting gay marriage in 2012 — and the White House really wasn’t happy about it, despite the two leaders’ many attempts to claim otherwise. That’s the story laid out in Jo Becker’s new book, “Forcing the Spring,” which documents the past few years of successful efforts to expand the legalization of gay marriage, according to an advance copy obtained by POLITICO. Speculation that Biden’s comments on “Meet the Press” in May 2012 were meant as a trial balloon, Becker writes, came from people “not privy to the

WASHINGTON — Former President Jimmy Carter joined fellow Nobel laureates Wednesday in opposing Keystone XL, insisting that approving the pipeline would trigger “more climate upheaval” around the globe. In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

President Obama said Wednesday that Russia realizes the U.S. military is “significantly superior” to its own and does not want war with the United States. Asked in an interview with CBS News about a Russian fighter buzzing a U.S. Navy ship in the Black Sea on Saturday, Obama said, “They’re not interested in any kind of military confrontation with us, understanding that our conventional forces are significantly superior to the Russians.” Obama accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of being behind uprisings in Ukraine in which government buildings have been taken over. GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE—Victims of the 9/11 terror attacks expressed shock that the FBI may be meddling in the hearings here, and some speculated that it is part of an effort by the Obama administration to completely derail the hearings and force them into federal court stateside. Families of those killed in the 9/11 terror attacks traveled here with the intent of watching their family members’ accused killers face justice. However, many say they were horrified earlier this week when pre-trial hearings came to a halt over revelations that the FBI had launched an investigation into the accused terrorist’s defense

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as
