Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday will celebrate the launch of a newly rebranded organization called the “100,000 Strong Foundation,” which aims to have 100,000 American students studying in China by 2014. Thursday´s event will "underscore the importance of study abroad in China and the benefits to our strategic relationship with China as well as the personal benefits individuals receive through these exciting experiences," the news release said. Until now, the 100,000 Strong Initiative -- announced by President Obama on his trip to China in 2009 -- has operated inside the State Department.

I would think he would want students to go to Iran or Saudi Arabia rather than communist China.

100K potential new little spies and seditious people - pushed by China who owns the bulk of US debt - and could threaten the current admin with looking bad if they couldn´t find a borrower to help pay out the free money to their lofo base.

Really bad idea.

Americans are increasingly ignorant of the real China and the lack of freedoms we take for granted. Just a couple to give you pause...
- Chinese have no right to move about the country without the proper permits.
- Chinese have no right of assembly.

America is all about freedom. What in the world are we doing sending our young people to a country like China? I´m sure students we send are carefully watched and carefully guided.

What if he can´t find 100K... will he MAKE them go? Or if parents won´t allow a willing child...Does Obama overrule?

If you want a student loan, you must go to China to study. This is just like Mao´s plan to have urban kids go live and work in the country, so they would know what it was like to be a peasant. No negative consequences to that program! /s

FTA: In the 2011/12 academic year, 194,029 students from China were studying in the United States (up 23 percent from 157,558 in the previous year).

I really don´t understand the point of the US program. After all, if you want contact with Chinese, go to our colleges or our defense/technology-related corporations. You´ll find plenty.

FTA: Michelle Obama also touted the initiative in remarks at Howard University in Washington, D.C., in Jan. 2011: "[S]tudying abroad isn’t just an important part of a well-rounded educational experience.... With every friendship you make, and every bond of trust you establish, you are shaping the image of America projected to the rest of the world. That is so important. So when you study abroad, you’re actually helping to make America stronger."

And the American students will be making "friendships" and "bonds of trust" with the college-age agents of China´s version of KGB.

Our guide in Beijing was astonished that we could go down and get on an airplane and fly anywhere in the country, anywhere in the world, without U. S. government permits.

They could not travel out of their city without permits and could only date and marry within their work unit, about a 1 mile square area of Beijing. That was this young man´s primary reason for joining the PRC tourist agency - he could meet young women from other work units.

What happens if they can´t come back?

Does this explain the empty cities built in remote areas?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Now why would Obama and Hillary Clinton want to send 100,000 mostly minority and of course progressive students to China to study at communist colleges and universities?

Amid the political boiling oil of three simultaneous scandals, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney continued Monday to defend the Obama administration´s handling of troubles involving the Departments of Justice, Treasury and State. In a hearing that started 45 minutes late after a one-hour announced delay, Carney said that ´no one in this building intervened in an ongoing, independent investigation´ by the IRS Office of Inspector General, which was examining ´Nine IRS employees´ who were targeting conservative groups for special scrutiny. ´We did not have a copy of the draft report´ before it was leaked to media outlets

Former U.S. Attorney for Arizona Dennis Burke violated Justice Department policies by releasing a memo written by an Operation Fast & Furious whistleblower to the media, Justice´s Inspector General found in a report issued Monday. The report called Burke´s actions "wholly unbefitting a U.S. Attorney." He resigned after acknowledging the disclosure in 2011, so no discipline by the department is possible. However, Inspector General Michael Horowitz referred the matter to Justice´s legal ethics watchdogs for possible referral to bar authorities in the District of Columbia and Arizona.

The Morning Joe meteorologist today aired dramatic footage of the weatherman at the NBC affiliate in Wichita, Kansas ordering his colleagues to take shelter because a tornado was headed right at the station. The White House Visitors Log reveals that President Barack Obama met with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) union boss Colleen Kelley on March 31, 2010—the day before the Inspector General´s report says the IRS began its scheme to target tea party and conservative groups. Furthermore, Obama appointed Colleen Kelley, president of the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU), to the Federal Salary Council whose job is to recommend pay raises for IRS and other federal employees one week after Obama and Democrats suffered historic midterm losses in 2010. Two years later, Kelley’s 150,000-member union had raised $580,412,

Now that the race for Virginia’s next governor has kicked into high gear, NBC News’ Chief White House Correspondent has decided to be partisan and sharply criticized the Republican ticket. On his May 20 edition of The Daily Rundown, the MSNBC anchor hammered the GOP’s nominee for Virginia Lieutenant Governor, African-American pastor E.W. Jackson, as extreme and someone who “might make Todd Akin look like a moderate.” "Can the GOP win in 2013 with a ticket of candidates who are best known for being very conservative and very outspoken on social issues?" As Congress and the public struggle to comprehend the scandals rocking the Obama administration, it is important not to overlook a common thread linking all of the misconduct: the administration’s paranoia that voters would see it as weak on national defense. For having the temerity to raise questions about U.S. policy toward terrorists and Iran, Israel and North Korea, the Obama IRS targeted a non-partisan group with which I am affiliated and illegally leaked its confidential information. The White House’s paranoia about public perceptions of foreign threats also drove its scandalous surveillance of Associated Press (AP) reporters.

NORFOLK -This was supposed to be the week when thousands of free-spending Norfolk sailors were to descend on lower Manhattan, where New Yorkers promised to shower them with gifts, drinks and kisses. But the annual party on the Hudson River was canceled. Fleet Week New York – like all the Navy’s big community outreach events this year – fell victim to sweeping federal budget cuts. Most of the sailors who would have been treated to free baseball tickets and complimentary subway rides instead will spend the week idling in Hampton Roads traffic and reporting for duty at Norfolk Naval Station.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

WASHINGTON – White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said Sunday Republicans owe Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, an apology for alleging she played a part in formulating the White House’s response to the attacks in Benghazi, Libya, last year that killed four Americans. Pfeiffer said on ABC’s “This Week” that the release of more than 100 pages of Benghazi emails and notes show “beyond a shadow of the doubt” that accusations she tried to change the narrative of what happened in the attacks was false. "And, frankly, I think that many of the Republicans
