| The Met Office has objected to the construction of a giant wind farm--claiming its turbines could affect the accuracy of its weather forecasts. It says interference from dozens of giant blades would result in ‘false warnings of severe and hazardous weather being issued’, while heavy rainfall and flood alerts could be missed. The weather agency has written to planning authorities to register its opposition to the site, which would see more than 20 turbines dotted in the Welsh mountains near one of its weather stations. The 400ft turbines can reflect the electromagnetic waves emitted by radar, creating ‘clutter’

Wind Farms also kill thousands, of not more birds every year. [and bats at inland locations] studies in UK and US show.
Liberals refuse to believe that these machines have an ecological down size.
All the ´bird lovers´ at So. E Pa. ornithological society meetings supported Great Leader.
NOTE
Mr Biden put in Wind turbines off 2 Delaware Bird Sanctuaries for shore birds and those flying from Cape Hatteras to Cape Henlopen, Del.
Meanwhile the US govt is spending millions each year to ´save´ the whooping crane which has to evade these wind farms in the Midwest as they fly from Canada to Texas each year.
Bring on Drilling!

This is the stupidest reasoning I have ever had the misfortune to read. What accuracy? Weather forecasting is the most inaccurate business I know of. As a resident of Oregon, we have a bunch of these windfarms in the eastern part of the state. Have never heard of any complaints about interference in predicting weather accurately.

Afghanistan has suspended talks with the US to discuss the nature of US military presence after foreign troops withdraw in 2014. A spokesman for President Hamid Karzai said the decision was taken over "contradictions" in the US proposal of direct talks with the Taliban. Mr Karzai also ruled out talking to the Taliban until the peace process was "Afghan-led". Earlier, four US soldiers died in a Taliban attack at an Afghan air base. A spokesman for the Taliban said the militants had launched two rockets at Bagram airbase, the largest military base for US troops in Afghanistan.

You don´t need to know much about Afghanistan, the nature of extremist movements or world affairs in general to understand one important principle: Never mind what they say, what are they doing? So while last night the Afghan Taliban released a statement (carefully co-ordinated with the White House) expressing their commitment to finding a political solution to Afghanistan´s conflict, this morning we wake to news that they launched a mortar attack on Bagram air base last night, killing four Americans. [Snip] The problem is that the US is negotiating not from a position of strength but a position of weakness.

It is understood that a contingency plan is in place for the unlikely event that an attempt would be made on the President’s life. The Secret Service also have diplomatic immunity which will allow them to shoot to kill a would-be assassin without fear of prosecution. As part of the “evacuation route” plan, they would be able to spirit the President by chopper to one of the carriers where a jet is on standby to take him back to the United States.
