| In a move specifically designed and carefully calibrated to prevent no shooting tragedies, New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg (D) took the lead today in attempting to target ammunition magazines. Lautenberg proposed new legislation that would prevent magazines from holding more than ten rounds at a time. President Obama proposed just that in his staged photo-op surrounded by children last week. Lautenberg bloviated, “The latest tragedy in Newtown was a wake up call for our nation, and now we must now turn our grief into action to reduce further tragedies. It is clearer than ever

If it didn´t work before, why reinvent the wheel ?
None of these clever ideas say anything about the police having different laws.
As a side note: now do you understand why the gov bought so many bullets ?

No matter what the Democrats say now, their real intent is confiscation! Make no mistake; the Democrat/Progressive/Communist Party is out to nullify the Second Amendment and take our guns. No question!

Nothing quite so dangerous in this world as a metal or plastic box with a spring in it...
Maybe they should introduce a bill banning the prescription of anti-depressants and ritalin to kids...

They will just be creating a big black market for any of the items that they seek to ban. There is little difference if a murderer is carrying three ten round magazines or one thirty round magazine as anyone who practices can change a magazine within a couple of seconds.
The big problem is with dangerous crazy people who are a very small percentage of all the crazy people who are walking around in this country these days. Remember crazy people can vote in the USA, guns don´t have a direct vote, so you can see why the liberal Democrats are targeting guns and not the real problem.

The progressives can not fully implement their agenda until the citizens are disarmed. This is why they are so eager to enact any legislation that will work toward that goal. They are shameless in their zeal to use a tragedy like Sandy Hook to advance their agenda.

Let´s face it. An AK-47 would look stupid without the 30 round banana clip.
Too bad we have to put up with do-gooder liberals who like to pass useless, feel-good legislation.

Lousinburger should have had sheet metal and spring steel banned. Even if they came to confiscate current clips ( good luck with THAT ) even I could build one with the basic tools that I own.

Political and media stupidity on parade! #2 is absolutely correct! Have you noticed how quickly "Fast and Furious" got swept under the carpet?
On a side note; it´s a magazine if it is an enclosed container with a "follower" that feeds rounds into the weapon. A clip has no moving parts and just holds rounds of ammunition. Simplistic explanation, but very few seem to know what they are talking about.

Appearing on MSNBC´s Andrea Mitchell Reports on Wednesday, NBC´s chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd came up with a long list of excuses for President Obama´s poor speech performance in Berlin: "I want to give you a little context here....there was an attempt to shrink the crowd size....Maybe they would have gotten 25, 30, 40,000 people....President Obama feeds off a crowd very well." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump] Todd then grasped at other reasons for the lackluster event: "...you had that very distracting glass and you could just see that the President

Another Republican Super PAC is jumping into the increasingly nasty Massachusetts Senate battle, going after Democrat Ed Markey’s biggest weakness — his $1.3 million Maryland home. The America Rising PAC, recently founded by Mitt Romney’s former presidential campaign manager, is planning to deliver a letter today to Maryland’s comptroller urging the state to investigate why Markey has never paid state income taxes there despite living in the upscale Chevy Chase suburb for two decades, the Herald has learned. Markey’s residency status has been dogging him throughout his career, ever since the Herald reported in the early 1990s

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Wednesday said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was “starting to get nervous” about passing immigration reform, suggesting that opponents of the bill were gaining momentum. "I certainly wouldn´t presume to speak for Harry Reid, but I think he´s starting to get nervous," Cruz said in an interview with conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh. The Senate this week is debating the Gang of Eight’s bipartisan immigration reform proposal. Reid (D-Nev.) is hoping to pass the measure before the July recess. Cruz suggested that Reid hoped to move the bill quickly to avoid scrutiny

Los Angeles County coroner´s officials said Wednesday the body recovered from a fiery, single-car crash in Hollywood that apparently killed journalist Michael Hastings will likely undergo an autopsy Thursday. But an official cause of death and closure of the case is not likely for four to six weeks or perhaps longer, they said. Coroner´s officials are hoping the results will answer why the accident happened. Officials were attempting to match dental records to help make a positive identification. The death of the 33-year-old Hastings was announced Tuesday by his employer, BuzzFeed,

Meet the Women for Weiner. The former congressman, who apologized for the lewd picture scandal that ended his House career before launching a bid last month for New York City mayor, is holding a fundraiser hosted by “Women for Anthony” next week at the Manhattan home of an education activist and philanthropist. The host committee is led by his wife, Huma Abedin, and includes her sister, Heba; Rory Tahari, wife of designer Elie Tahari; and Cheryl Saban, the wife of California-based mega-donor Haim Saban, who funded a short film lauding Hillary Clinton’s tenure at the State Department

Likening religious schools to segregation--a racist system that forced blacks to attend different schools and use different facilities than whites in the American South--President Barack Obama told a town hall meeting for youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Monday that there should not be Catholic and Protestant schools because such schools cause division. "Because issues like segregated schools and housing, lack of jobs and opportunity--symbols of history that are a source of pride for some and pain for others--these are not tangential to peace; they’re essential to it,"

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

This is the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of How Democracies Perish, an analysis of the spread of world communism by Jean-François Revel, one of freedom´s most serious French defenders since Tocqueville. At the heart of this work, Revel details "The Tools of Communist Expansion," among which the most relevant for understanding our current situation comes in Chapter 16, "Ideological Warfare and Disinformation." The profound simplicity of Revel´s nuts and bolts account of totalitarianism´s Cold War advance, far from being obsolete

Celebrity chef Paula Deen admitted in a recorded deposition to telling racist jokes, using the N-word, and planning a slavery-themed wedding, according to multiple reports. The May 17 deposition where she made the alleged admissions is part of a $1.2 million lawsuit brought by Lisa Jackson, the former manager of a Savannah, Georgia, restaurant run by Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers. Jackson alleges in the suit that Deen used the N-word at the restaurant and that Hiers sexually harassed her. According to the reports, in the deposition, Deen replied “Yes, of course,”

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
