| America has been creeping closer and closer to allowing women in combat, so Wednesday´s news that the decision has now been made is not a surprise. It appears that female soldiers will be allowed on the battlefield but not in the infantry. Yet it is a distinction without much difference: Infantry units serve side-by-side in combat with artillery, engineers, drivers, medics and others who will likely now include women. The Pentagon would do well to consider realities of life in combat as it pushes to mix men and women on the battlefield.

Now is the Time for all good men to come to the aid of the Male Party....you had better stand up before it is too late....you know you will not be able to look sideways at the woman or you will be sued for harassment...they have gone too far as it is...and yes I am a woman but I don´t agree that woman can do anything she wants....

Saw this in the Navy in the mid 1980s. One ship, a submarine tender, was scheduled for a (rare) deployment of just 3 months. About 50% of the females in the crew came up with various reasons (most of them pregnancy) in the weeks leading up to the departure date. With the sudden lack of enough sailors, the group commander started plucking shore-duty sailors - men only - to fill those vacated billets.
When will these idiots stop treating the military as some social petri dish?

Next needed will be a Pentagon division on "knockups" as more vagina-equipped soldiers come into close with sex-starved vagina addicts.

I was an infantry officer in the Army and served in Vietnam on a brigade staff. Service in the field in combat will devastate these women and destroy unit cohesion.//I also served on a hospital ship as a naval judge advocate in the Gulf War. A high percentage of the crew was female and they were great shipmates and very good at what they did in a relatively comfortable environment with good food and daily showers. In my judgment from my ship a very few long serving regular female officers and a few others who were almost all dykes and toughs could have hacked it in the field until worn down through lack of body strength. These few could not have lasted nearly as long as the men.//Horrible, if politically correct, decision by Panetta and another reason for straight males to avoid military service.

How does a woman deal with a sudden monthly visitor who is unexpected and out in the field? I doubt the men are carrying extra maxy pads

These arguments are extremely short-sighted. In our culture, women have served as the guardians of civil behavior. We´ve told our children "Never hit a lady" and "Watch your language, there are ladies present". Traditionally, women have been the standard-bearers of manners, dedication, love and peace. Ideally, men are honored to care for them and protect them. Such behaviors civilize us and allow us to fulfill satisfying social roles.
But, the woman warrior chips away at our civil veneer. It destroys both man-and-womanhood.
In the end, they will scratch their heads in wonder and ask why there are no real men left, only boys and animals.

This article tells it like it is in army and marine combat infantry units. The liberal Democrats can only get away with such ludicrous policy changes because only about 1% of the country has served in the military these days, and the other 99% does not have a clue as to what really happens in sustained ground combat operations.

And some fool in the comments stated that "the Israelis are already there."
No they aren´t. They tried it in one conflict and found it unworkable. And that was in ´74. They do draft women.
I´ll believe they´re serious when all women have to register for the Selective Service.

There are only a very small percentage of the women in the army and marines who have any desire to serve in infantry ground combat units. If they were to start generally assigning women to those units they would find that they have created the perfect recipe for a lot of quick pregnancies in order to get the heck out of those units ASAP.

A new study may stimulate the old adage of respecting your elders; it says the general level of intelligence in the Western Hemisphere has declined since the Victorian Era. The study claims the IQ numbers are 14 points lower than from the 19th century. One of the authors of the study, Dr. Jan te Nijenhuis, professor of work and organizational psychology at the University of Amsterdam, says the cause of the movement toward stupidity is that smarter women have fewer children while those of lower intelligence have more children. But Dr. Gerald Crabtree, professor of pathology and

Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in broad daylight, a murderous act of jihad butchery was committed on a busy London street. The Daily Mail published a pictorial chronology of the gruesome attack, noting, prominently: At 2:20 PM (London time) a British soldier (25-year-old Drummer Lee Rigby of the 2nd Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers), wearing a "Help for Heroes T-Shirt" (a charity for wounded British soldiers) was deliberately rammed by a car and crushed against a road sign. The Muslim assailants emerged from the car, dragged the victim to a wall, slashing and stabbing him to

Ron Radosh, writing on PJMedia, dug back into New Left history and political theory in coming up with an explanation for the IRS´s targeting of conservative groups. Radosh provided a telling quote from Herbert Marcuse´s theory of "repressive tolerance" article of 1965. I doubt whether it really applies to the IRS scandal but it´s timely in other ways. "Surely, no government can be expected to foster its own subversion, but in a democracy such a right is vested in the people (i.e. in the majority of the people). This means that the ways should not be

During his foreign policy speech Thursday afternoon, President Obama warned that domestic terrorism would increase in the modern age of the Internet. “[T]his threat is not new,” Obama said. “But technology and the Internet increase its frequency and lethality.” Obama warned Americans that materials on the Internet could influence people to commit terrorist acts. “Today, a person can consume hateful propaganda, commit themselves to a violent agenda and learn how to kill without leaving their home,” he said.

How many ignored warnings does it take? That is one question that should hang over Britain after the horror of the daytime murder of a British soldier on the streets of south London. On Wednesday afternoon, Drummer Lee Rigby was killed in Woolwich by two men wielding large knives and shouting "Allahu akbar"—God is great. Islamists have been saying for years they would do this. They have planned to do it. And now they have done it. The attack itself is not surprising. What is surprising is that British society remains so utterly unwilling not just to deal

The White House insists President Obama is "outraged" by the "inappropriate" targeting and harassment of conservative groups. If true, it´s a remarkable turnaround for a man who helped pioneer those tactics. On Aug. 21, 2008, the conservative American Issues Project ran an ad highlighting ties between candidate Obama and Bill Ayers, formerly of the Weather Underground. The Obama campaign and supporters were furious, and they pressured TV stations to pull the ad—a common-enough tactic in such ad spats. What came next was not common. Bob Bauer, general counsel for the campaign (and later general counsel for the White House),

IRS Scandal: The inexplicable raid nearly two years ago on a guitar maker for using allegedly illegal wood that its competitors also used was another targeting by this administration of its political enemies. On Aug. 24, 2011, federal agents executed four search warrants on Gibson Guitar Corp. facilities in Nashville and Memphis, Tenn., and seized several pallets of wood, electronic files and guitars. One of the top makers of acoustic and electric guitars, including the iconic Les Paul introduced in 1952, Gibson was accused of using wood illegally obtained in

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

Eva Longoria is backing up her beauty with a whole lot of brain. The actress graduated with a master´s degree Wednesday. Longoria, 38, took home a real degree (not an honorary one) in Chicano studies from Cal State Northridge, where she physically attended classes for three years, according to TMZ. "Big day today!!! Very excited to graduate for my master´s degree in Chicano studies! You´re never too old or too busy to continue your education!" the actress wrote on her Who Say site Wednesday, sharing loads of pics of her big day, posing with her family, cohorts and diploma.

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
