´It was a hell of an experience´:
Harry arrives back in Britain after
Afghanistan tour amid backlash
over casual talk of killing enemy

Prince Harry tonight admitted he ´doesn´t know what normal is anymore´ after arriving back in the UK from his second tour of Afghanistan. The Apache co-pilot gunner has been on post-deployment ´decompression´ at a British military base in Akrotiri, Cyprus, since leaving Helmand province on Monday night. Harry landed at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on a regular personnel flight but did not travel on with his unit, 662 Squadron, 3 Regiment Army Air Corps, to their base in Wattisham, Suffolk. The 28-year-old said a seven-year-old girl was shot down by insurgents on his final day on tour, adding:

Comments:
As for the criticism of his remarks, Harry will remain a a prime target--and would have even if he hadn´t said a word.

This is rubbish.

Prior to his statements... the Taliban says it wanted to kill the Prince. Now..the Taliban says it again.

Sorry... the Taliban wanted him dead then and now. Nothing new here.

He is a soldier for Pete´s sake..the backlash seems to have come from the Taliban and anti-war activists.

Read the article. The Prince reported that at the end of his tour.. the Taliban shot a seven year old girl...not by accident.

Savages.

Harry Wales was deployed to Afghanistan by his government to fight in that conflict(?). For God´s sakes he is a pilot/gunner on an Apache Gun Ship...Killing the enemy is what he is paid to do. Apparently, he is pretty good at it.
The Press has no clue;the closest to a conflict or killing they have gotten, is on the City Streets, or in their Colleges. They do not have the collective ´stones´ to go into combat and have some shooting real bullets, while trying to put a hole in their happy Arrses.
Harry is now back home in England, til he is redeployed again. At least He and William are doing what they can to preserve life and sanity in England. Semper Fi!

ANYONE, who has not been in combat has no right to an opinion on the matter. You may not like what the man said, but until you have been there yourself, put a sock in it!

Just how do you think some folks cope with the reality and the necessity of ending the lives of other men? Black humor is one of the traditional, time-tested ways. And the grim humor goes both ways with any combat veteran I have ever known, BTW

Full disclosure: Purple Heart, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Vietnam, 1967 Allons!

Correct me if I am wrong: isn´t the point of the military and war to break things and kill people (the enemy)? Where was he wrong?

How valiant this "Prince" who rains hell down upon itinerant herders and illiterate tribesman from a multimillion dollar helo. If you want to find terrorism, "Prince", head to Yemen, Sudan, Algeria, or Mali. We should have left Afghanistan 9 years ago.

Harry is a warrior and you can bet your boots that he will be welcomed back to Las Vegas anytime he gets the notion to go back there.

The US will engage in its first formal direct talks with the Taliban on Thursday, according to officials, in a milestone on the road to peace after more than a decade of war. The first meeting will take place in Doha, the Qatari capital, after the Taliban opened their first official overseas office and Washington dropped its long-standing demand that the movement renounce ties with al-Qaeda. "The US will have its first formal meeting with the Taliban, and indeed first meeting with the Taliban for several years, in a couple of days in Doha," a senior official with

LE BOURGET, France—Boeing Co. won major orders from five customers for a stretched-out version of its popular 787 Dreamliner jet at the Paris Air Show Tuesday, further evidence of a strengthening market for more expensive long-haul jets. Boeing announced the formal launch of its 787-10 program at the Paris Air Show on Tuesday and says it already has commitments for 102 jets from five customers: Air Lease Corp., Singapore Airlines, United Airlines, International Airlines Group and GE Capital Aviation Services. The new 787-10 lists at $290 million, making the deal worth nearly $30 billion at full price, although customers often

Nato has handed over security for the whole of Afghanistan for the first time since the Taliban were ousted in 2001. At a ceremony in Kabul, President Hamid Karzai said that from Wednesday "our own security and military forces will lead all the security activities". Observers say the best soldiers in the Afghan army are up to the task but there are lingering doubts about some. International troops will remain in Afghanistan until the end of 2014, providing military back-up when needed. The ceremony came shortly after a suicide bomb attack in western Kabul killed three employees of the Afghanistan

The Obamas never miss an opportunity to mingle with the stars and during a two-day trip in Dublin, who better to have lunch with than iconic Irish rocker and philanthropist Bono? First Lady Michelle along with daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, started Tuesday with an hour-long visit to picturesque Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains--but the two girls looked like they would have rather slept in at their luxury hotel. Glendalough is famous for its Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, the hermit priest. After appearing less than thrilled on Monday while viewing Medieval manuscripts

President Obama may be earning the favor of his Irish ancestors by attending the G8 conference with his family but it is stirring the ire of American taxpayers outraged by the cost of the trip. The two-day trip around the Republic is expected to cost U.S. taxpayers more than $5.2million. [Snip] This two-day trip is likely to cost double that amount taking into account that his daughters now need a security detail and the family have split up into two locations. For this trip, Air Force One arrived at Aldergrove International Airport, 20 miles north of the city

Undercover video shot in May by a conservative activist shows two corporate distributors of free cell phones handing out the mobile devices to people who have promised to sell them for drug money, to buy shoes and handbags, to pay off their bills, or just for extra spending cash. The ´Obama phone,´ which made its ignominious YouTube debut outside a Cleveland, Ohio presidential campaign event last September, is a project of the Federal Communications Commission´s ´Lifeline´ program, which makes land line and mobile phones available to Americans who meet low-income requirements. Lifeline was a $2.19 billion program in 2012.

Frustrated by an increase in petty crime, residents of an Oregon neighborhood have decided to arm themselves instead of calling the police. Residents of a Jennings Lodge neighborhood in Clackamas county, Ore., have put up fliers advertising their new policy, calling themselves the ´Glock Block´, according to KOIN News. ´This is a Glock Block,´ the fliers read. ´We don´t call 911.´ Along with some of her neighbors, Coy Toloman has put up the fliers and gotten a concealed carry permit with the hopes of deterring criminals. While the increase in neighborhood crime is mostly petty, with incidents of vandalism

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. And Sarah blasted him on Twitter as a bully. Is that, is it, is he a bully? Is he a bad, what is he?

Five months into his second term, allies and enemies are as confounded as ever about who President Obama really is. Is he the dyed-in-the-wool liberal that his biggest supporters and critics suggest? Or is he a pragmatic, even cynical, politician who cares more for his popularity than taking risks for his ideological goals or living up to his rhetoric? Even in the short period since his reelection, Obama has provided evidence to support conflicting interpretations. His efforts to pass immigration reform, the unsuccessful push for stricter gun controls and tax hikes on high earners buttress the case for Obama-as-ideologue.

Jeb Bush says he’s not worried that his work toward comprehensive immigration reform and his ties to the GOP establishment will alienate conservatives and negatively impact a potential 2016 presidential campaign, referring to critics as “the chirpers.” “If I decide to run for office again, it will be based on what I believe, and it will be based on my record,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “And that record was one of solving problems completely from a conservative prospective.” Bush (R) pointed to his conservative

Politico’s Playbook has an excerpt from a new Ryan Lizza piece from the New Yorker that is not yet online. It contains a passage on the back-and-forth between labor and the Chamber that has a quote from a Rubio staffer that is going to raise eyebrows, to say the least: “There are American workers who, for lack of a better term, can’t cut it. There shouldn’t be a presumption that every American worker is a star performer. There are people who just can’t get it, can’t do it, don’t want to do it. And so you can’t obviously discuss that publicly.” Here is the entire context:

A series of shootings this weekend has Chicagoans on edge. A total of 11 separate shootings since Friday night have resulted in seven deaths and at least 30 injuries in the Windy City. The victims range in age from 16-years old to 40-years-old, according to multiple media reports. The last of the shooting deaths came early Sunday morning when police chased a man down a dark alley on the crime-ridden West Side. The suspect jumped out of the window of a moving car the officers were attempting to pull over, he fell down fleeing

Iran is preparing to send 4,000 troops in to Syria to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the wake of America´s announcement it will be providing ´military aid´ to the country´s Muslim rebels. President Barack Obama made the pledge earlier this week after the U.S. claimed it found ´conclusive evidence´ Assad´s regime has used chemical weapons against the rebel forces--which includes the most extreme Sunni Islamists--and has called for Britain and France to back the move. While Britain hasn´t made a guarantee either way as yet, more than 350 Royal Marines are being sent to Jordan
