Suspect charged in Lone Star
College shooting

Houston Chronicle, by Mike Tolson

Original Article

With memories painfully fresh and nerves still raw after the Connecticut elementary school massacre, the nation suddenly turned its attention to a community college campus in suburban Houston on Tuesday afternoon, fearful that another violent incident was shredding any lingering notion of safety in the classroom. As it turned out, the gunfire that shattered the silence of a normal day of classes at Lone Star College´s north Harris County location was sadly routine. Two young men became involved in an argument that ended when one pulled a handgun.

I wonder if this photo of the shooter will appear anywhere in the MSM? My guess is no because it does not comport with their anti-gun narrative but, instead, is more illustrative of the Chicago syndrome.

The campus is near an area of town caleld Greenspoint that is called Gunspoint here in Houston.

I also loved the local newscast where a youth started flashing gang signs behind the reporter.

If only 23 more gun laws had been on the books, this wouldn´t have happened!

Reply 4 - Posted by: rabbit, 1/23/2013 10:43:15 AM     (No. 9134061)

But...the suspect had his rights! He had the right to purchase that gun. He had the right to have it nearby when he got into an argument. He had the right to foolishly mishandle it and shoot himself in the hip.

Waiting to hear all the folks defend this guy´s Second Amendment Rights....

Reply 5 - Posted by: Mr. Hanky, 1/23/2013 10:45:36 AM     (No. 9134068)

He had 2nd Amendment rights and will now lose them and go to jail. Of course he was also breaking the law by carrying in a "No guns zone" on campus.

I don´t know if the firearm was identified, but I suspect a semiautomatic with the wretched integral trigger safety.
I have been a hunter for almost 70 years(!)
and I am comfortable with all sorts of firearms, but that safety mechanism bothers even as experienced outdoorsman as I am.

Reply 7 - Posted by: Redneck In NY, 1/23/2013 10:53:30 AM     (No. 9134096)

Yes #4, I WILL defend his right to have a firearm, right up to the point of him becoming a criminal, which is out of my control, your control, and the 2nd Amendments control.

I´m sure your pithy comment played well over at HuffPo, but let me help you a bit. This shooter has the same rights as you or me, until he forfeits those rights. Now, I do not know if obtained his weapon legally, if he did, then he is a moron, if he didn´t, then he is a criminal moron.

Sounds like a case of Glock-leg. Usually caused by not following safety rules (keeping your finger off the trigger) and carrying without a holster, ala Plaxico Burress.

#4.
Scenario 1: Cop stops commuter for "driving while black" because all wrongdoers in the last year have been black. Black Victim network goes full throttle, and the City pays up.

Scenario 2: Progressives argue for gun registration/confiscation/limitations for law abiding citizens because a law abiding citizen with no criminal record may someday chose a life of crime.

What´s the difference?

One can only hope that a rabbit is at the front of the line as a sworn progressive army door-to-door confiscator.

I don´t see why other gun owner rights should be annulled because this guy is a criminal. Criminals were being put in jail and left there. States have been adjusting their budgets by letting them out and not putting them in jail. Obama has said zero about crime and punishment. Obama punishes the innocent and wants to release the Guantanamo bunch into the U.S. population.

When a rabbits consistently goad you into chasing them, you have to wonder who´s the hunter.

Somebody please explain to me why this even got national attention. A one time loser got into an argument with someone else, several shots were fired included a obviously accidental self inflicted one. It seems that Lash larue had misdemeanor marijuana possession offense and oops was not supposed to have a gun in his posession in the first place. It also seems Lash was not a good shot at all and even managed to shoot himself when securing his shooting iron into his pants. I wonder if he was wearing a hoodie?

It was obviously not an active shooting, clearly a entrepreneurial pharmaceutical dispute or perhaps a simple dissing episode that got out of control. So why did this get national attention? Ohh, of course it involved the word school campus (head slap).

A new documentary features interviews with six whistle-blowers who claim that the official explanation given for the ill-fated Trans World Airline Flight 800 crash in 1996 is wrong. The flight crashed off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago, killing all 230 people on board in what is the third-deadliest aviation accident in U.S. history. The official explanation given by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) at the time was that the crash was caused by a gas tank explosion. Many alternative theories exist, the most common is that a missile strike

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

Women will have the chance to join the Navy SEALS, Army Rangers and other specialized combat outfits beginning in 2016 under plans approved Tuesday by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel. Female candidates will also be able to join front-line Army and Marine Corps infantry units as part of the department’s decision. “The days of the ‘Rambo’ are over,” Maj. Gen. Bennet Sacolick, head of force development for Special Operations Command, said Tuesday during a briefing announcing the changes. Tuesday’s announcement builds on former Pentagon chief Leon Panetta’s decision in January to end the military’s long-standing ban

Michael Hastings, a contributor to Rolling Stone and BuzzFeed, died on Tuesday morning in a car crash in Los Angeles at the unforgivably young age of 33.He is best known, rightly, for his 2010 Rolling Stone profile of Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who as commander of the U.S.-led force in Afghanistan was the face of the war that Hastings saw as misguided and poorly managed. His profile, “The Runaway General,” portrayed McChrystal as a loose cannon so sure of himself and his strategy for the war that he and his staff openly derided their civilian overseers,

Senate rejects border fence

Senators on Tuesday rejected building the 700 miles of double-tier border fencing Congress authorized just seven years ago, with a majority of the Senate saying they didn’t want to delay granting illegal immigrants legal status while the fence was being built. The 54-39 vote to reject the fence shows the core of the immigration deal is holding. The vote broke mostly along party lines, though five Republicans, including Sen. Marco Rubio and the rest of the bill’s authors, voted against the fence, and two Democrats voted for it. Republicans had offered the fence as a way to

[Video] Louisiana State Senator Elbert Guillory (R-Opelousas) explains why he recently switched from the Democrat Party to the Republican Party. He discusses the history of the Republican Party, founded as an Abolitionist Movement in 1854. Guillory talks about how the welfare state is only a mechanism for politicians to control the black community. Hello, my name is Elbert Lee Guillory, and I’m the senator for the twenty-fourth district right here in beautiful Louisiana. Recently I made what many are referring to as a ‘bold decision’ to switch my party affiliation to the Republican Party.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Jeb Bush says he’s not worried that his work toward comprehensive immigration reform and his ties to the GOP establishment will alienate conservatives and negatively impact a potential 2016 presidential campaign, referring to critics as “the chirpers.” “If I decide to run for office again, it will be based on what I believe, and it will be based on my record,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “And that record was one of solving problems completely from a conservative prospective.” Bush (R) pointed to his conservative

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

The Obamas never miss an opportunity to mingle with the stars and during a two-day trip in Dublin, who better to have lunch with than iconic Irish rocker and philanthropist Bono? First Lady Michelle along with daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, started Tuesday with an hour-long visit to picturesque Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains--but the two girls looked like they would have rather slept in at their luxury hotel. Glendalough is famous for its Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, the hermit priest.
