Choking up, Hillary Clinton says
Benghazi is ‘personal’

Outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, testifying before Congress on the deadly Sept. 11 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya, choked up Wednesday as she assured lawmakers that the security of American diplomats was a “personal” issue for her. [Snip] Clinton’s voice broke as she recalled welcoming home the “flag-draped caskets” of U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three other Americans killed in the terrorist strike at the consulate and putting her arms around bereaved family members.

Comments:
What an actor! If Clinton had really been upset about this she would have made an effort to testify sooner. Instead, she´s had plenty of time to rehearse her staged "grief".

It only became personal after they died.

Now she is shouting and screaming "What difference does it make ?" when asked why we were all deceived by Ms.Rice.

Getting emotional whenever the truth begins to surface.

PIAPS was spewing way too much b.s. and the senators asked shamelessly light-weight questions that are an insult to any of us who followed this story...when Sen Boxer started up, just had to turn off the entire cover-up show...will get my updates from reliable sites and my fellow LDotters...

The shouting a screaming is to intimidate those horrible Republicans from daring to ask any questions of the great and noble Clinton. Don´t fall for it.

Barbara Boxer was an absolute embarrassment to the nation with her performance in "teeing it up" for Hillary. The Democrats made fools of themselves with their lavish praise of her. This is a national embarrassment because the Senate should be asking tough questions instead of kissing her butt. Throw these people out in 2014 and 2016.

Reply 10 - Posted by: antiquegolf, 1/23/2013 10:40:47 AM     (No. 9134045)

I did not see the "testimony." Is there any chance that on the House side where the GOP is supposedly in charge that tough questions will be asked with follow-ups that make this horrible liar of a woman squirm? Is there any chance the House hearing won´t be a travesty?

Reply 11 - Posted by: southron, 1/23/2013 10:40:50 AM     (No. 9134046)

It is crucial that she not be allowed to bluff her way out of this - a precedent will be set. It is also a test of whether Congressional hearings still work - or are a thing of the past.

Oh yes she and O were both all torn up meeting the coffins. Seems at least one of the parents had a different view. Then it was off to party. She at a party at the Libyan embassy to boot.

I remember how you greeted those draped coffins with lies about a video on YouTube.
You have no shame, but you do bear the responsibility for four dead Americans. The LIV won´t care should you run in 2016. I can´t wait to hear the bidding war for handouts between you and Joe. /s

That the American people -some of them, too many- continue to tolerate and actually respect a person like this is an ominous sign for the future health of the Republic. The Clintons, like Obama, are not the cause of what ails the country, but they are symptoms of a disease in the electorate that, if unchecked, will result in final ruin.

Reply 15 - Posted by: sooznews, 1/23/2013 11:15:48 AM     (No. 9134168)

She had to READ the part about greeting the coffins. My god, the woman can´t speak from the heart even as she is trying to appear touched by the loss of lives.

The Sec of State position is not a personal job. It is a position of public trust with duties and responsibilities, which have not been met by Hillary.

Marc Thiessen makes a point I was preparing to write up, and wish I had written: The real culprit behind James Clapper’s false testimony to Congress regarding NSA data collection isn’t Clapper, but rather Sen. Ron Wyden who asked the question to which Clapper responded. Since Thiessen went first, I’ll let him explain: What is outrageous is not that Clapper tried to protect classified information in an open session, but that Senator Ron Wyden asked him the question in open session the first place.

When women start doing what men have traditionally done, yours is a civilization of the setting sun. This is brought to mind when pondering a recent Pew Research Center study showing that women are now the primary or sole breadwinners in 40 percent of American households. You may have heard the story -- it created quite a stir on Fox News, with Greta Van Susteren and Megyn Kelly (who became quite hysterical) taking exception to male colleagues´ warnings about the development´s sociological implications.

The world is presently inundated with revelations or reminders of the U.S. federal government´s various means of collecting information about everyone´s private correspondence, of how bureaucratic offices sympathetic to the current administration are using private information to target political opponents, and of how federal officials are using legitimate national security concerns to build support for increasing public surveillance and private "data-mining" so ominous that a "career intelligence officer" felt compelled to reveal the secret data-mining system, explaining that "They quite literally can watch your ideas form as you type."

The attempted snow job by the American Muslim Advisory Council (AMAC) of Tennessee which sponsored the joint Department of Justice/FBI event, "Public Disclosure in a Diverse Society," Tuesday night in Manchester, Tennessee, did not work with the 2,000 attendees. Claims that American Muslims are loyal citizens, partners in counterterrorism investigations, part of radicalization prevention efforts, and an integral part of American society for centuries fell flat, especially coming from the host organization that was formed only two years ago in response to anti-shariah legislation in the Volunteer State.

The National Security Agency is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of US customers of Verizon, one of America´s largest telecoms providers, under a top secret court order issued in April. [Snip] The document shows for the first time that under the Obama administration the communication records of millions of US citizens are being collected indiscriminately and in bulk – regardless of whether they are suspected of any wrongdoing. The secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (Fisa) granted the order to the FBI on April 25, giving the government unlimited authority

Doctors at the University of Michigan have saved a baby’s life using the marvels of modern technology to “print” the child a new airway using a goundbreaking 3-D printer to restore his breathing. [Snip] Every day, their baby stopped breathing, his collapsed bronchus blocking the crucial flow of air to his lungs. April and Bryan Gionfriddo watched helplessly, just praying that somehow the dire predictions weren’t true.

Via Ed Morrissey, Jeffrey Lord at the American Spectator has tracked down either a fascinating coincidence or a smoking gun that puts Obama right in the middle of the IRS scandal. [Snip] According to the White House Visitors Log, provided here in searchable form by U.S. News and World Report, the president of the anti-Tea Party National Treasury Employees Union, Colleen Kelley, visited the White House at 12:30pm that Wednesday noon time of March 31st.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Likening religious schools to segregation--a racist system that forced blacks to attend different schools and use different facilities than whites in the American South--President Barack Obama told a town hall meeting for youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Monday that there should not be Catholic and Protestant schools because such schools cause division. "Because issues like segregated schools and housing, lack of jobs and opportunity--symbols of history that are a source of pride for some and pain for others--these are not tangential to peace; they’re essential to it,"

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

This is the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of How Democracies Perish, an analysis of the spread of world communism by Jean-François Revel, one of freedom´s most serious French defenders since Tocqueville. At the heart of this work, Revel details "The Tools of Communist Expansion," among which the most relevant for understanding our current situation comes in Chapter 16, "Ideological Warfare and Disinformation." The profound simplicity of Revel´s nuts and bolts account of totalitarianism´s Cold War advance, far from being obsolete

Celebrity chef Paula Deen admitted in a recorded deposition to telling racist jokes, using the N-word, and planning a slavery-themed wedding, according to multiple reports. The May 17 deposition where she made the alleged admissions is part of a $1.2 million lawsuit brought by Lisa Jackson, the former manager of a Savannah, Georgia, restaurant run by Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers. Jackson alleges in the suit that Deen used the N-word at the restaurant and that Hiers sexually harassed her. According to the reports, in the deposition, Deen replied “Yes, of course,”
