Impossible, there are numerous, multiple laws on the books prohibiting this type of gun violence. There is no way this happened. We need to get 23 more gun laws onto the books to prevent this kind of willful flouting of existing gun laws.

Can´t help but think some Obama-loving, 2nd amendment-hating gun control nut had a part in this, but perhaps I´m just becoming too cynical.

Right now, the Texas state legislature is meeting. One of the bills under consideration is to allow people to carry concealed weapons on campus if they have a concealed handgun license in Texas.

This should be enough to convince the sceptics that it´s past time to get this on the lawbooks here in Texas (and hopefully the rest of the country too).

There is no reason for anyone to be an unarmed victim anywhere if they don´t chose to be!!!

Stop these stupid gun-free zones, yesterday!

Reply 7 - Posted by: killerbee, 1/22/2013 3:07:02 PM     (No. 9132823)

There are a lot of reasons this story could disappear.

1. The perp(s) are illegals.
2. The perp(s) are gang members.
3. The perp(s) are leftist students.
4. The perp(s) are leftist professors.
5. Nobody dies and the perp(s) is stopped by a good guy toting a gun.

We´ll see what comes of this. They´ve been dropping these stories really quickly lately. The teenaged boy who shot the family in NM -- gone. The house full of people who got killed in CO. And don´t think you´re going to find something national about Chicago gun crime.

My guess is it might be #1.

The answer is to declare "Gun-Free Zones" into "Murder-Free Zones" and make sure such a sign, along with a strongly worded statement, is at every entrance.

Gallows humor aside, this college was indeed a "gun-free zone." How much longer are we going to continue to disarm law-abiding citizens for the benfit of the Left´s "good intentions" while people die?

Further, Second Amendment states should impose strict liability upon those entities and facilities that prohibit the carrying of lawful firearms. If you are going to disarm people, and make them vulnerable, you should be required to provide for their defense from would-be killers. Want to declare a place a "gun free zone"? Good, but once you do so you had best ensure that you provide armed guards, because by doing so you are saying that you - the gun banning entity - will provide for protection of those who come through the door.

Word will get out. This happened in Houston, so it´s likely that more info will be available. It´s on the edge of the city and a pretty rough part of town. (I took some grad courses there once, and was always glad to leave before dark.)

The Greenspoint area near where this happened is affectionately known in Houston as "Gunspoint" if that tells you anything...

The IRS scandal smoking gun?

COLLEGE PARK, Md- In the Internal Revenue Service targeting scandal and others, Washington and the media are obsessed with the question: What did the president know and when did he know it? That misses the point. Barack Obama´s presidency is much more damaging to the nation than the mistakes of subordinates now coming to light. Most recently, we learned Obama met with anti-Tea Party IRS Union President Colleen Kelley just before the tax agency began targeting conservative groups. Is that the smoking gun? Was the president in on the plan to harass opponents of big government?

WASHINGTON - Three days of congressional hearings about the Internal Revenue Service´s targeting of conservative political groups have lawmakers looking for ways to widen an investigation that has so far been largely contained within the tax collection agency. More than 11 hours of testimony and an inspector general´s report have revealed plenty of wrongdoing within the IRS. But so far, investigators have not produced evidence that anyone outside the IRS authorized the targeting, or even knew about it before a few weeks ago. They will keep trying. Three congressional committees are investigating the matter, and the leaders of those committees

A Wall Street Journal editorial socks it to the president and his hands-off management style. Every day brings new revelations about who knew what about the IRS targeting conservative groups during President Obama´s re-election campaign, but the overall impression is of a vast federal bureaucracy run amok. While the White House continues to peddle the story of a driverless train wreck, taxpayers are being treated to a demonstration of the dangers of an unwieldy and unaccountable administrative state. Look, Ma, no hands! In his press events, Mr. Obama has said that while he learned about the Cincinnati rogues

A young Michelle Obama once dated the inspector general who recently uncovered the IRS scandal, according to a bombshell report. The future First Lady, then known as Michelle Robinson, reportedly dated J. Russell George, the current IRS top watchdog responsible for investigating the widening trouble at the tax agency, while the two were at Harvard Law School in the 1980s, the National Journal reported. The power pair were both members of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and graduated together in 1988, and at the very least, shared a few

LONDON- Two British men of Nigerian descent accused of hacking a soldier to death on a London street in revenge for wars in Muslim countries were known to security services, a source close to the investigation said Thursday. One man, filmed calmly justifying the killing as he stood by the body holding a knife and meat cleaver in bloodied hands, was named by acquaintances as 28-year-old Londoner Michael Adebolajo - a British-born convert to radical Islam. So frenzied was the attack, some witnesses thought they tried to behead the victim.

Ford Motor Co. (F) will stop making cars in Australia, nine decades after founder Henry Ford first began building Model Ts in the country, as a surge in the currency undermines the local industry’s ability to compete with imports. Ford Australia faces costs double those in Europe and four times those of its Asian divisions, local President Bob Graziano told reporters today. He announced the loss of 1,200 jobs from October 2016 at two plants in Melbourne and Geelong.Australia’s three car makers have struggled as a 27 percent rise in the local dollar against the yen

Former Rep. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
