| The fiscal cliff bill didn’t just raise taxes; it showered half a billion dollars on a canny Big Pharma company that knows its way around Capitol Hill. A provision in the newly-passed fiscal cliff bill allows pharmaceutical giant Amgen to sell one of its pills (Sensipar) for two more years without having to negotiate a fair price with Medicare. Sensipar is an expensive pill, and the two year delay will cost Medicare upwards of $500 million. What makes this bit of corporate welfare even more egregious is the fact that Amgen recently pleaded

General question for any who care to answer - what is your opinions on alternative medicines, like natural supplements and such? One hears the talk-radio Docs - they push their potions and concoctions like Pharma, and they are unregulated and FDA makes no endorsement of those products. What y´all think? I have no serious health issues (´cept for my weight) which is good as I have no insurance either. It behooves me to stay healthy.

On one hand, people here bemoan Obama punishing success, on the other, they want free medications. Which is it?
Amgen should be able to sell medicines at the price they want until their patent runs out.

The FBI uses drones to watch specific targets within the United States, the bureau’s chief said Wednesday. Serena Williams released a statement on her website Wednesday apologizing for controversial comments made in a Rolling Stone article about the Steubenville, Ohio, rape case. Her statement: "What happened in Steubenville was a real shock for me. I was deeply saddened. For someone to be raped, and at only sixteen, is such a horrible tragedy! An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria.
