| George W. Bush, Mitt Romney, even Oprah Winfrey—the famous people who didn´t attend Barack Obama´s second inauguration say as much about the ceremony as those who did turn up. The no-shows offered many different excuses for staying home—some legitimate, some paper-thin. And some of these no-shows hurt more than others. As Washington´s presidential party carries on into the afternoon, let´s take a look at the people who aren´t celebrating Obama´s second term in D.C., assessing their alibis and the severity of their snubs. George W. Bush Excuse: George H.W. Bush just got out of the hospital last week after

The Atlantic used to be a pretty good magazine. This lame piece is indicative of its present state of decay.

Those who were named, well, except for Clooney, have been insulted and trashed by this man for years. I would have been disappointed if they showed up. And why didn´t Mitt Romney show....are you kidding me? He was so mistreated by this man, and I use the term loosely, so lied about it was or should have been a crime. Anyone who voted for this fraud, and there are a couple in my family, should be ashamed of themselves. Low info indeed.

For the same reason they don´t go to strip clubs, Michael Moore film premieres, Satanic rituals and similar establishments.
I´d love to know what W and his Mom said privately about attending.

Romney has no reason to go to Washington, D.C. and congratulate Obama for successfully trashing both his personal and professional reputations for the last year. Romney did the right thing and is better off in California, besides its warmer there.

"W" attended the last inauguration out of protocol, and then watched as the jerk proceeded to insult, shame, deride, and blame him for Everything negative about the country.
Romney was made into wanting to screw people into the ground in the pursuit of "more money" for the 1%ers.
And David says they should have been there!
If I was Bush or Romney, I wound´t walk across the street to p#*& on his shoes if they were on fire!

Ah, did widdle Barry get his feelings hurt because "W" and Mitt wouldn´t come? Maybe some day Barry will understand that you can´t lie about and demonize someone every time you give a speech and expect those people will revere you. Glad to see "W" and Romney didn´t lend their presence to this waste of money.

If someone does not want to attend a function then they owe no explanation to anyone. Politely decline.

The Daily Beast reports that one of the Benghazi fall guys is refusing to take the fall. Raymond Maxwell was put on indefinite leave by the State Department after its Administrative Review Board (ARB) investigation of Benghazi for reasons that are still unknown to him. The person he claims made the decision to cast him out was Cheryl Mills--Hillary Clinton´s former chief of staff and counsel at the State Department. It is the second time Mills´ name has turned up during scrutiny of the State Department´s response to the attack. According to a new report by Josh Rogin: "On the

She thought she was making a topical political joke, but a co-creator of ‘The Daily Show’ managed to enrage many of her followers after tweeting joke about the Oklahoma tornado’s political motivations. ‘This tornado is in Oklahoma so clearly it has been ordered to only target conservatives,’ wrote comedian Lizz Winstead, in a tweet, around 3:30 Monday afternoon. The tweet was an apparent attempt at using the occasion of the May 20 twister to comment on the scandal currently plaguing the IRS and Obama administration. Winstead, co-creator and former head writer for ‘The Daily Show,’ promptly received a stream of angry responses

The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the Obama administration’s denial of asylum granted to the Romeike family, who fled Germany over its strict anti-homeschooling laws. In a press release Tuesday, Michael Farris, founder and chairman of the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), said, “We believe the Sixth Circuit is wrong and we will appeal their decision. America has room for this family and we will do everything we can to help them.” The Romeikes fled Germany in 2008 when they were subjected to criminal prosecution for homeschooling, which is largely illegal in their country.

They are 1 percenters who are 100 percent despicable. Some wealthy Manhattan moms have figured out a way to cut the long lines at Disney World — by hiring disabled people to pose as family members so they and their kids can jump to the front, The Post has learned. The “black-market Disney guides” run $130 an hour, or $1,040 for an eight-hour day. “My daughter waited one minute to get on ‘It’s a Small World’ — the other kids had to wait 2 1/2 hours,” crowed one mom, who hired a disabled guide through Dream Tours Florida.

The shadow of Watergate is looming larger over the growing IRS and Associated Press leaks scandals amid I-know-nothing denials from the president and his attorney general, with Republicans smelling blood in the water and a former Nixon official saying the Obama administration needs to avoid the impulse to cover up. (snip) “This is how these situations unravel. First it gets blamed on some low-level employee and then it tracks back to Washington,” said Keith Appell, a Republican strategist based in Washington, D.C. “All the way back to Watergate when it was blamed on some third-rate burglary. The more it

The Internal Revenue Service scandal would be bad enough if the IRS just handled issues like collecting income taxes and granting nonprofit status. But the immensely powerful federal agency is about to become even more powerful with the arrival of national health care, and that makes the still-unfolding scandal even more troubling. (Snip) The IRS is critical to Obamacare. The structure created by the Affordable Care Act requires the government to know about both the health care coverage (or lack of it) and the financial resources of every American. The IRS, which already knows the latter, was the only

Victoria Toensing, Republican Counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee, says her client, a State Department official now considered a whistle-blower in the investigation of the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, has been "threatened" by Obama administration officials. According to Toensing, these threats weren´t related to ambiguous matters. Rather, they were "specifically about Benghazi." She says the threats went beyond the four State Department officials who´ve currently retained counsel. "People have been threatened at the CIA" as well, she claimed. (Snip) Toensing claimed the threats relate to ending the careers of those with information about the attacks who

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

Fox News chief Roger Ailes has sent a memo to his subordinates at the leading cable news network. He sent this memo to his staff today in connection with the federal investigation into an alleged leak to Fox News reporter James Rosen, a story that the Washington Post’s Ann E. Marimow broke earlier this week. The memo’s a masterpiece, too. For all those who wonder what it is about Ailes that endears his people to him — and that makes him such a good interviewee for any media reporter lucky enough to get an audience
