Broken viewing screen frustrates
thousands on the National Mall

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Mike Lillis

Tens of thousands of people who flocked to the Mall to watch Monday´s inaugural ceremony will have to watch a replay to hear what President Obama said. A television set up just north of the Washington Monument was streaming terribly, sending a garbled signal — both audial and visual — that left observers west of 15th Street having to guess half of what Obama was saying. Many in the crowd – perhaps thinking there was another big screen on the south side of the monument – trudged that way only to find nothing,

This is a victory parade for all of the EBT-carrying, Medicaid-receiving, Head Start-loving, who-cares-about-the-deficit liberals. The rest of America is at work.

or anything else, for that matter.

Or was it a Gummint Motorola VOLT TV... ?

Boondoggle.

It´s a metaphor.

For the DimWitz who mention having Bammy added to Mount Rushmore...
"Mount Rush-More" is a DimWitz tactic to avoid being caught on the babysitter...
(It´s a hurry-up offense... )

I suggest we select a mountain (similar to Stone Mountain in Georgia)...

My kind of shovel-ready project.

Not to worry ------ They will have everything fixed, as well as hundreds more scattered thru out the country when we´ll all be ordered to assemble and watch our leader announce that he is suspending the constitution!

"Who is John Galt?"

In "Atlas Shrugged" the phrase was a euphemism that was expressed when people were discussing a situation where nothing seemed to work well anymore - at all levels.

After a meal at a local restaurant yesterday - which used to be packed with the Sunday-after-church-crowd, but was nearly deserted, our waitress came to our table near the end of the meal and thanked us and said she was being sent home. We reflected on the fact that the quality of the food and service was declining in many of the places we frequent.

It´s hard to blame the owners, or the people who work there. Their costs are going up, hours are being cut and their hope for the future is dwindling.

"Who is John Galt?", indeed.

More than likely it was some DC audiovisual outfit that´s either minority owned or has a minority goal in its contract. The lowest bidder is always scary, but in DC itself? Geez.

The Obama administration’s sudden plunge into scandal territory has two aspects — the actual and the political. The first, and most important, has to do with what actually happened. Why did the administration promulgate a false account of the terror attack on Benghazi? Why did the Internal Revenue Service target conservative groups for special scrutiny? Why did the Justice Department act in an unprecedented fashion toward The Associated Press for publishing details of a foiled terror plot the White House was planning to discuss openly the next day?

The birthday party will be modest and understated, in keeping with the man. Sir Nicholas Winton is 104 tomorrow and naturally some of his children will be there to wish him well. Not only his blood offspring but those known as Winton’s Children – the ones he saved from near-certain death three-quarters of a century ago. Nicholas – Nicky – Winton hates to be thought of as a hero, hates being compared with Oskar Schindler or Raoul Wallenberg, but he nevertheless deserves to be mentioned in the same breath.

Speaking at Ohio State University earlier this month, Barack Obama urged students to pay no attention to those paranoid types who “incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity.” Oddly enough, in recent days the most compelling testimony for this view of government has come from the president himself, who insists with a straight face that he had no idea that the Internal Revenue Service had spent two years targeting his political enemies until he

Two Metro-North trains collided in Connecticut during the evening rush hour tonight, causing at least two dozen injuries and massive delays on the New Haven Line, authorities said. The accident happened about 6:10 p.m. just east of the Bridgeport-Fairfield line when a westbound train from New Haven derailed and collided with an eastbound train on a section of track near a viaduct that is under renovation. Photos on the Connecticut Post´s website showed people being taken on stretchers to waiting ambulances, and first responders from Fairfield, Bridgeport and nearby

The punditocracy is pulling out its collective hair, wanting to know why there have apparently been multiple layers of cover-ups in the evolving Benghazi story. An early scandal from the Clinton administration, the so-called “Travelgate” scandal, may be instructive. Recall that in the 1993 firings of employees at the White House Travel Office, a determination was made early on by the new president Bill Clinton and then-First Lady Hillary Clinton that the Travel Office workers, who served at the pleasure of the president,

The tragedy of Benghazi, where a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were killed, seemed a cut-and-dried story in the days after a mob attacked the State Department’s mission in eastern Libya. From President Obama on down, the recap was simple: A crowd of demonstrators angry over an obscure YouTube video that denigrated Islam’s Prophet Muhammad spontaneously stormed the complex. The State Department’s top spokeswoman assured the public that security for fallen Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and his aide Sean Smith was “robust.”

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
