GOP Senator Ted Cruz slammed President Obama‘s gun control proposals on NBC’s Meet The Press Sunday and said he didn’t think it was constructive for the president to try to “exploit” the Newtown tragedy “within minutes” of it occurring. Cruz said the “gun control agenda” backed by Obama is “designed to appeal to partisans.” Cruz explained why he didn’t believe any of the gun control measures outlined by Obama last week would work: “Number one, it would have done zero to prevent the crime in Newtown. Number two, many of the provisions are contrary to

Comments:
Of course he did. That´s just what Democrats do. I wish we had more men in our government like Sen. Cruz.

The Club for Growth bet big on Cruz as well as Rubio, and their bets paid off. I talked with their Asst Director about starting a local Club for Growth, focused on State House and State Senate candidates. They aren´t chartering state Clubs, but were very helpful and willing to share their model for success. I can copy them, but have to come up with a different name.

It´s well worth sending the Club for Growth a contribution, even if it´s only $50, and getting their newsletter. These guys are very good at identifying conservatives who are also articulate leaders. Your money will be well spent.

The government has enough "Training" exercises
of school shootings to have a script of how to exploit it.
They´re so convincing in the mock shootings it´s hard to know if it´s real.

#3 makes a good point.

Our government has spent more time learning how to exploit these tragedies than learning how to avoid them. "Fast and Furious" comes to mind.

The ´walk a mile in his moccasins´ rule should be applied to President Obama on this issue. If you were President and you had to go and comfort the victims and relatives after this despicable crime, you might see things a bit differently. I know the President´s default is automatically the left wing, autocratic response, but when ascribing intent, such as ´exploit´ on this, I am a tad uncomfortable.

Kinda makes ya wonder how he was so prepared for it.

President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden met with three illegal immigrants who have been granted deferred action legal status in the Oval Office Tuesday. Meanwhile, Obama still refuses to meet with any border security enforcement officers about any aspect of immigration reform. “From Justino Mora, Angie Kim and Mehdi Mahraoui, to Diana Colin and Kevin Lee,” a White House blog entry reads, “all of the stories they shared were full of hope and optimism that one day their family members and their broader communities could realize the dream of becoming citizens of a country that

WASHINGTON - A long-simmering feud between establishment Republicans and tea partyers broke into full view Thursday, with Sen. John McCain accusing younger colleagues of overplaying their hands and tempting Democrats to change Senate rules that protect the minority party. Tactics for dealing with the government´s budget and debt became the latest quarrel In a string of them between McCain -sometimes joined by other traditionalist Republicans -and tea party champions such as Ted Cruz of Texas, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Mike Lee of Utah and Marco Rubio of Florida. Those four won Senate seats by defying the party establishment,

The conservative writer Quin Hillyer says he’s “laying down” his pen and running for Congress in Alabama. Hillyer, who most recently worked for The American Spectator, The Washington Times and The Washington Examiner, became the first to throw his hat in the contest after the unexpected resignation of Republican Rep. Jo Bonner on Thursday. "When an opportunity comes to do something good, one must grab it,” Hillyer wrote on the American Spectator blog. Hillyer, once an aide to former Louisiana Rep. Bob Livingston, is well-known in the political community of Mobile, Alabama, where he now lives.

Washington - President Obama, seemingly preoccupied, forgot one piece of protocol as he boarded Marine One on his way to Annapolis Friday. Obama walked past the Marine at the bottom of the helicopter´s stairs and didn´t give the traditional salute. Realizing his mistake upon entering Marine One the president pivoted in the doorway, jogged back down, shook hands and spoke briefly with the Marine before boarding the helicopter for a second time.

Key Democrats say Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner didn´t give up her Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination by giving an opening statement at a House hearing on Wednesday. Democrats on the Oversight panel said they want Lerner to testify about the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, and are not defending her decision to invoke the Fifth Amendment. But Lerner’s Constitutional rights are clear, the Democrats argue, and committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) will be wasting the panel’s time and resources waging a losing battle against her attorneys while the FBI conducts

Former 2012 presidential candidate Jon Huntsman is forming a new PAC dedicated to helping elect like-minded Republican candidates across the country. Huntsman says he’s undecided on his future plans and the 2016 race, but the new Red Rock PAC will give him a perch from which to speak and travel — as well as give him access to a network of candidates, donors and potential future surrogates for any presidential candidacy. “It’s way early,” Huntsman told POLITICO about the 2016 race. “For this year and next year, it will be more about talking about

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
