What do these all have in common: The Ottoman Empire, the Nazi Empire, the Soviet Empire and the New Islamic Caliphate? If you are a student of history, you will recognize that the first three of these expansionist empires have all been the underlying or overt cause of millions of deaths, and that they were central players in three world conflicts. The fourth empire, which is the only one still extant, cannot yet be measured in terms of the damage it will eventually do, but it is the largest in both geography and population and it is still growing.
What the author fails to mention is the great influx of Islam in this country. If having a Mosque down the street from the ruins of the World Trade Center is not enough, they have infiltrated the highest levels of our government.
We are in for a very long hard fight, not only against the expansion of Islam but also, it appears, our very own government. These are frightening times.
Obamacare didn’t happen overnight. For the last 75 years, progressives have trotted out the idea of compulsory health care or subsidized national health insurance every decade or so, been defeated, and then gone back to the drawing board.Their tenaciousness finally paid off in 2010 when Congress by the narrowest of margins passed a bill with no Republican votes, and President Obama signed into law his “signature” achievement. No wonder Vice President Biden took the opportunity on that occasion to tell the president that passing health-care reform was a “big f---ing deal.”But now that the fruits of national health insurance are
As Christmas nears, two local school districts find themselves being drawn unwillingly into the battle against religion in the public square — but both districts maintain that allowing students to participate in traditional Christmas concerts does not violate anyone’s rights. Choirs from Glacier, Flathead and Whitefish high schools will perform as planned today and Friday during the “Peace on Earth Community Christmas Celebration” despite receiving requests from the Freedom from Religion Foundation and American Civil Liberties Union of Montana to cancel.
One pleasure of scanning old Inter Lakes is discovering a familiar name among the ink-stained wretches whose career has ambled through Kalispell at one time or another. It certainly seems like we have had our share of reporters who have gone on to bigger and better things.[SNIP]But perhaps the most significant writer to have spent his apprenticeship at the Inter Lake is Tom Tiede, an author whom I first became familiar with when I was a young assistant wire editor at the Bismarck Tribune.
The JFK assassination may never be solved completely. Too much time has passed and too many witnesses are dead. But there is also far too much evidence of a conspiracy to ever conclude decisively that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in killing President Kennedy. Thanks to the 50th anniversary of the assassination, which took place in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963, there has been a resurgence of interest that has led to a spate of books and television shows re-examining the evidence against Oswald, a 24-year-old former Marine who had defected to Russia in 1959 and then returned to the United
Saint Paul noted some 2,000 years ago that the root of all evil is the love of money. A corollary of that prescription might be that the root of all tyranny is the love of other people’s money. It would seem that the power to tax and spend is a lure to potential tyrants as much as putrefying carrion is to bare-toothed scavengers.[SNIP]No wonder the Tea Party, with its insistence on turning off the federal spigot, is being painted by progressives as a danger to the national well-being. The national well-being, after all, is a state of stuporific addiction to
It is a well-known fact that Ronald Reagan’s military buildup in the 1980s was largely intended to force the Soviet Union to spend money it didn’t have on weapons it didn’t need. The goal? Bankrupting the Soviet Union [SNIP]Thus, for the past 30 years, forces have been at work to undermine America in just the way that Reagan undermined the Soviet Union. Not in an arms race, because America has no stomach for war any longer — not after one failed venture after another — but by using a cunning strategy that cannot fail to bring us to our knees
Dear Brian: You and I have had our differences — plenty of them — but I was happy to see you toying with the idea of running for president last week. I know, I know — it’s just a coy flirtation, not an admission that you really want to put yourself through the rigors of an uphill 2016 campaign battle against Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and who knows who else for the Democratic nomination. But when you told Real Clear Politics 10 days ago that the American people were getting frustrated with presidential politics as usual, you were speaking for me and
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) snapped at conservative groups that have come out in opposition to the budget deal reached Wednesday between Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). "They´re using the American people for their own purposes. This is ridiculous," Boehner said at a press conference with other members of House Republican leadership on Wednesday. Over the past few days, a number of conservative groups have blasted the deal because it sets discretionary spending levels in the budget higher than previous levels under sequestration. In the past three days, the influential Heritage Action, Club for Growth, Americans
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
