expected to plead guilty to
bank fraud

Detroit — Federal prosecutors have charged Michigan Supreme Court Justice Diane Hathaway with bank fraud, just a few days before she leaves the state´s highest court in a scandal involving the sale of a Detroit-area home and suspicious steps taken to conceal property in Florida. The charge was filed Friday as a criminal "information," which means a guilty plea is expected in federal court. Hathaway´s defense attorney, Steve Fishman, declined to comment Saturday, and the justice did not return a phone message seeking comment. Hathaway is resigning Monday, months after a series of questionable real estate transactions

Comments:
Another Democrat bites the dust. Of course you have to get to almost the end of the article to find out she´s a Democrat. We all know if this had been a Republican that would be part of the headline.

18th paragraph infers she´s a dim, but the article never actually states it. It does, however, point out that the AG and Gov are Republicans! So the game has gone beyond "hide the party affiliation," now its "infer corrupt motives to Republicans AND hide the Dim party affiliation."

She was a Democrat? Oh, no, so hard to believe! (Snicker)

Anything less than 10 years in prison and she`s getting a pass. She can`t say she didn1t know or understand the law. She used her public position to commit bank fraud.

Why is John Corzine not in prison? Maybe Bernie Madoff knows.....

The democrat party is a criminal organization of special interest groups bonded together for strength in numbers. Without a moral compass greed drives them on for personal gain. Money laundering, vote theft, embezzlement are all party trademarks.

Seems the new AP Style Manual must be encouraging the "inference" idea to identify Democrat miscreants. I´ve seen that before.

They might quote another Democrat official (sometimes party affiliation mentioned), usually bemoaning the partisan atmosphere of the day which caused this poor, terrible, sad situation to this fine public servant.

Or, they quote a Republican official (party affiliation always noted), chastising the public servant criminal. Since moderate and inside-the-Beltway Republicans turn on their own quicker than Minute Rice, the reader can often "infer" that the crook is a member of that party.

But in those cases, the non-low-information-voter knows if it is a Republican caught in any violation, real or imagined, from late library book fines going up, the party affiliation is, per the AP Style Manual, prominent in the headline or the first paragraph of the story.

The criminal MFM. Hiding the truth and touting the lies is becoming more and more difficult for them. Too much and too many. No wonder the media dogs are throwing themselves to the ground... a la Bill´s Hill. They realize they are finished as a necessity in THIS country. They can only do so much, and they are so exhausted from all the hard work.

Mz Hathaway. Mr. Drysdale had a secretary by that name...remember him, he was Bank President. You might be lucky enough to meet the former mayor of New Orleans soon.

Disbarring both the judge and her husband seems appropriate.

This is a major resumé enhancer for her, given she´s a dimocrat.

“We have a message for Attorney General Holder over at http://huffingtonpost.com,” read a message from the Huffington Post political Twitter account earlier this evening. The website´s home page is one big splash calling for Eric Holder’s exit from the Obama administration, suggesting that the news reported earlier by NBC News was the final straw for liberals who are critical of Obama’s attorney general. NBC News’ Michael Isikoff reported that Holder signed off on the search warrant that identified Fox News reporter James Rosen as a “possible co-conspirator”authorizing seizure of his private emails. Attorney General Eric Holder signed off on a controversial search warrant that identified Fox News reporter James Rosen as a “possible co-conspirator” in violations of the Espionage Act and authorized seizure of his private emails, a law enforcement official told NBC News on Thursday. The disclosure of the attorney general’s role came as President Barack Obama, in a major speech on his counterterrorism policy, said Holder had agreed to review Justice Department guidelines governing investigations that involve journalists. "I am troubled by the possibility that leak investigations may chill the investigative journalism that holds government accountable," Obama said.

With so many scandals in the picture or looming, it’s easy to miss the fact that President Obama may soon become one of the most successful presidents in American history. I’m defining success as fulfilling Obama’s mission of substantially transforming America. The Obama administration scandals matter because, to one degree or another, they involve scandalous conduct. But step back for moment. In 20 years, very few people will remember any of them. By contrast, in 20 years — assuming that Obamacare sticks and Schumer-Rubio style immigration

Terrorist Attacks on U.S.

President Barack Obama said today that there have been no "large scale" terrorist attacks on the United States since he became president. The statement comes less than six weeks after the terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon, which killed 5 people, injured 280 people (including 16 police officers), and forced the city to shut down while police conducted a door-to-door search for the terrorists. “So after I took office, we stepped up the war against al Qaeda but we also sought to change its course,” said Obama at Ft. McNair’s National Defense University in Washington, D.C.

Boy Scouts Vote to End Ban on
Gay Scouts; Gay Adults Still

The Boy Scouts of America today voted to lift its longtime ban on admitting gay Scouts but will continue to exclude openly gay adults from leadership roles. The vote by its 1,400 national membership came as no surprise to gay rights advocates, who hailed it as a first step to ending discriminatory practices in the 103-year-old organization. The ruling by secret ballot at a national convention in Dallas means that mothers like Jennifer Tyrrell, who is a lesbian, will still be excluded from the Boy Scouts.

Although White House Chief Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler claims to have learned about the IRS audit scandal only last month, she had three unprecedented one-on-one meetings last year with the Treasury Department’s chief lawyer, who has known about the inspector general’s investigation of the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative nonprofits since at least June 2012. The Treasury lawyer in turn has a long history of extreme left-wing agitation. Christopher J. Meade, Treasury Chief Counsel, met with Ruemmler on September 27th, December 11th, and December 13th, 2012, according to White House Visitor Records requests.

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state
