Barbara Walters fell last night at an inauguration party and will be unable to contribute to ABC News´ coverage of the event, it was revealed today. Ms Walters only suffered a cut to her head, but has been hospitalized ‘out of an abundance of caution,’ according to ABC News’ spokesperson. Because of her injury, the 83-year-old will not contribute to Monday’s second inauguration of President Barack Obama. The veteran newswoman was in Washington to cover the events and tripped last night on a step at the residence of Britain’s U.S. ambassador, Sir Peter Westmacott,

Doesn´t this woman know when to quit? She is 83, not 63. I´m up in years myself and know my limitations. She needs to get a clue. Maybe the fall will cause a thought to cross her mind.

Today´s weather - - 93 and sultry - - just like Baba Wawa.

The thing which makes me disdain her more than anything else - - and there are plenty of other reasons - - is that she chose to make her network anchor debut on Yom Kippur - - a day on which Jews are supposed to eschew all commercial activity.

I can´t stand people who deny their heritage - -Jewish or otherwise - - or pretend that it doesn´t exist. Are you listening, Madeline Albright?

Researchers at Princeton and Northwestern universities have pored over 1,800 US policies and concluded that America is an oligarchy. Instead of looking out for the majority of the country’s citizens, the US government is ruled by the interests of the rich and the powerful, they found. No great surprises there, then. But the government is not the only American power whose motivations need to be rigourously examined. Some 2,400 miles away from Washington, in Silicon Valley, Google is aggressively gaining power with little to keep it in check. It has cosied up to governments around the world so effectively that its chairman,

Then-Sens. Joe Biden and John Kerry were both opposed to Hillary Clinton’s 1993 health-care reform program, according to documents released by the Clinton presidential library. Clinton marked a handwritten “No” beside Biden’s name on Clinton’s list of Capitol Hill lawmakers that she needed to win over for her universal health care law, known as the “Clinton health plan” or “Hillarycare,” to pass. John Kerry, meanwhile, was marked with a “Probably not.” “Hillarycare” ended up dying in the Democratic-controlled Senate in 1994 without coming to a floor vote. Wayne Crews of the Competitive Enterprise Institute and Alexis de Tocqueville, author of the classic Democracy in America, were born in different times and places. But the French aristocrat and American think tanker have the measure of the federal behemoth in the age of Obama. Writing in 1835, Tocqueville eloquently predicted how it would function, while Crews today supplies in his annual compilation of federal rules and regulations, “10,000 Commandments,” the hard numbers that describe the behemoth´s contemporary reach and costs. It is always worthwhile to revisit de Tocqueville’s description of what he called the

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million.
