| Former New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin, who rose to national prominence by blaming the Bush administration for his own incompetence in preparing for and handling Hurricane Katrina, has been indicted by a federal grand jury, Gordon Russell of NOLA.com writes that the indictment contains: 21 counts of corruption, alleging that while in office, Nagin took cash bribes and gifts from three city contractors and used his power as mayor to leverage a granite installation contract from Home Depot

Mayor Ray - dope of the century during Katrina, but oh that was Bush´s fault for leaving all those buses that could have been used to evacuate people. Ray must have been holding them back for a kickback, which he probably got when they were replaced after the flooding. Rot in jail Ray.

Uhhh, federal indictment? How in the work did that get past holder? That´s ok though, remember the b panther voter intidimation case. Nagin will be ´prosecuted´ and given probation or, the charges will be dropped after the press mentions them, or, the case will be so poorly prepared he will be found not guilty in front of a friendly judge and cherry picke NO jury. End of discussion, he keeps ill gotten gains and can run for re election. It´s the dem way.

Of course the president deserves some of the blame. Yes, it’s extremely unlikely he ordered the IRS to discriminate against tea-party, pro-life, or Jewish groups opposed to his agenda (though why anyone should take his word for it is beyond me). And his outrage now — however convenient — is appreciated. But when people he views as his “enemies” complained about a politicized IRS, what did he do? Nothing. Imagine for a moment if black civil-rights organizations, gay groups, or teachers’ unions loudly complained to members of Congress and the press that the IRS was discriminating against them.
