| Budget Policy: Even if we don´t raise the debt ceiling, enough revenue will still come in to the Treasury to pay our interest, our bonds and essential services. The government will not shut down— only its ability to borrow. Like the fiscal cliff, the dangers of hitting the debt ceiling, while dire, are not necessarily fatal. It would, however, concentrate the minds of the American taxpayer wonderfully and force Washington to do what American families do every day around the kitchen table — take the paycheck and pay the bills in order

The government living within it´s revenues would work great until the first EBT card turned up insufficient funds.
I mean I´d pay a 100 bucks to see the look on the person´s face.

I´d like to know how much EBT money goes to buying candy, potato chips and ice cream for "hungry" people. And the first wife, Mookie, says she needs another giant $$$ program to deal with people who are too fat.

Could hardly believe my ears, yesterday, when I heard folks on TV talking about EBT needing to be like WIC and only be used for necessary items. Why is such a simple subject unable to be addressed by our Republican representatives. Good people at this site will stick up for the weaklings in Congress when there are so many important subjects they could be talking about. Why is the EBT crowd untouchable while the military retirees are in danger of losing their retirement? When Clinton cut off medical care (at military facilities) to military retirees over 65, the good doctors in our clinic continued to see them anyway. (Could you look a WW1 vet in the face and tell him "Sorry, can´t help you" in 1998? We couldn´t. He was a celebrity to us.) Is it racist to make people stand in line to get their government cheese like in the old days? If you don´t like the cheese, then cut my grass for $10.00 and buy whatever you want. There is a ton of work to be done out there that no one is doing (actually, illegals will do it) and the able-bodied people who would be in danger of going hungry (without the govt) would be highly motivated to get busy if their life depended on it. Isn´t that sorta how it used to work?

Employer spending on benefits rose at the slowest pace on record in the first quarter, as companies began bracing for higher health costs with next year´s launch of ObamaCare.Total benefits, such as insurance and pension contributions, rose just 0.1% vs. the end of last year, the smallest gain in Labor Department data going back to 2001. By comparison, payroll employment grew by a half-million, or 0.4%, in Q1. So benefits-per-worker declined. Total employee benefits provided outside of government jobs declined outright.
