| Fiat (FIA.MI) and its U.S. unit Chrysler expect to roll out at least 100,000 Jeeps in China when production starts in 2014 as they seek to catch up with rivals in the world´s biggest car market. Output could double, the Italian carmaker´s Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne, without giving a precise timeframe. Chrysler, in which Fiat has a 58.5 percent stake, said on Tuesday it had agreed to make Jeeps in China with Guangzhou Automobile Group (601238.SS).

If the purpose of establishing a Jeep manufacturing plant in China because Jeeps are popular with the Chinese (and they are), then there´s no problem.
If the purpose of establishing a plant there is to reduce cost of manufacturing and these Jeeps will be sold all over the world, that´s no good. While it´s an indictment on onerous tax and mandate issues here, it´s also an indication of Jeep (Fiat) being selling out their distinctly American heritage.
I own a Jeep and love it. If Jeep moves to China and out of the U.S., I won´t buy another one.

I own a Jeep. My son owned a Jeep first. He now has another Jeep. They are easy to fix. If it´s a regional supply issue, more power to them. My company does the same thing.

Rioters have lit fires and stoned emergency services in the suburbs of Stockholm for the third night in a row after a man was shot dead by police. Incidents were reported in at least nine suburbs of the Swedish capital and police made eight arrests. On Sunday night, more than 100 cars were set alight, Swedish media report. Police in the deprived, largely immigrant suburb of Husby shot a man dead last week after he reportedly threatened to kill them with a machete. The founder of a local youth group told Swedish media the riots were a reaction to "police brutality".

Colombia has announced it no longer recognises the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice, in The Hague. The decision comes nine days after the ICJ redrew Colombia´s maritime border in the Caribbean in favour of Nicaragua. The court´s ruling ended a decades-long dispute over the San Andres islands. President Juan Manuel Santos said individual countries, and not courts of law, should fix their borders.

Several Christian families have fled their homes in Egypt's Sinai peninsula after receiving death threats from suspected Islamist militants, officials and residents told AFP on Friday. Last week, flyers began circulating in the town of Rafah on the Gaza Strip border demanding that its tiny Coptic population move out, residents said. Officials at the local church informed the authorities of the threats, but no action was taken, they added. An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria.
