Four years later, feminists split by
Michelle Obama’s ‘work’ as first lady

Washington Post, by Lonnae O’Neal Parker

Original Article

In the opening moments of her second turn at history, as Michelle Obama waves at celebrants along Pennsylvania Avenue, Americans will clamor to see the first lady, who remains one of the most popular public figures in the country. In the most recent poll, fully 73 percent said they approve of the way she is handling her job. But a significant group of Americans — feminist Americans — have been vocally disappointed with her choices and feel let down by her example. In 2008, when Obama announced her intention to be “mom-in-chief,”

Ahhh, the sisters don´t like choice or variation. Typical.

(I find their use of the label of "feminist" offensive).

These women aren´t feminists. They are collectivists and useful idiots. They have no truth so they must turn on each other when the showcases don´t fall in lock step with their own ideologies. Irony.

Feminists don´t whine about the "man" keeping them down. And Feminists don´t kill babies either.

I declare BS that 73% approve of Moochelle´s job. Unless the poll was of the CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, or NYT staffs. Or maybe the poll was taken in Hollywood.
I seriously doubt that any of the people who voted for Romney approve of the First Wookie´s performance.
And some portion of the Obama voters have to have some dissatisfaction about her frequent extravagant vacations at the taxpayer expense.
So, the whole premise of this article is built on lies.

I dunno what her job is, but she surely has plenty of taxpayer-funded flunkies to help her. I believe that even Jackie Kennedy had only one "assistant". Wookie has serveral handsful.

Is this laying the groundwork for the upcoming ultra-expensive overseas visits (aka vacations) for black women who know The Mooche?

Are you serious? White feminists and Black feminists are fighting about the role of an incredibly shallow woman who loves to party, travel and spend other people´s money.

Shouldn´t they be worrying about the frock she will be wearing for the upcoming coronation?

Lastly, she is just not that popular. Enough with the Big Lie.

The only time that feminists don´t feel disappointed and let down is when they are reading the annual report from Planned Parenthood or hooking up with a new "partner".

I do have somehing nice to say about Mrs. Obama. She has slimmed down and looks so much better than she looked at the first inaugural. With the exception of the few platantly partisan things she has said, she has done a good job. I did like her simple hair styles prior to this bangs bob. I do not like the policies of her husband.

Work ? She wasn´t elected and doesn´t have a job. Maybe those jumping jacks were work, but even that stopped when he was re-elected.

This woman had the opportunity of a lifetime to speak to unwed mothers in this country and set an example. Instead, she choose to torment school children and take their lunch away.

Secretary of State John Kerry evidently runs a tight ship, given the paucity of leaks that emerge from his office. So we know he is organized and disciplined. He is also an energetic risk-taker, jumping into high-wire negotiations with Iran, and forcing the Israelis and Palestinians to the negotiating table -- enterprises that could likely end in failure and ruin his reputation. This is a man with character. By contrast, his predecessor at State, Hillary Clinton, appeared to take few risks and has been accused of using the position of secretary of state merely to burnish her resume in preparation

A New York woman suffering from a neurological disease that has required four brain surgeries has been dropped by all of her doctors and denied medications due to her Obamacare plan. "I´ve been vomiting. I lost 22 pounds. The pain is unbearable," said Margaret Figueroa, 49, on Wednesday. "My medication helps me function during the day." Figueroa suffers from a disease known as Arnold Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia. Even though the Obamacare plan she purchased assured her that she was covered, her insurance card was denied when she went to fill her prescriptions. Then she learned that none of her

An ex-Arizona sheriff and supporter of Cliven Bundy spoke out to defend the Nevada rancher in a radio interview this week, flagged by Right Wing Watch, and he compared Bundy to Rosa Parks while decrying federal authorities for exhibiting Nazi-like tactics by saying they’re just following orders. Richard Mack told radio host Steve Deace that Bundy took a stand against the government “trying to make sure other peasants don’t rise up with their pitchforks” and said this moment is exactly like “Rosa Parks refusing to get to the back of the bus.” When Deace brought up the “just following orders” justification that

Crimea is in Moscow’s hands. Some of Kiev’s army has surrendered parts of eastern Ukraine without a fight. And now there are signs that Russian President Vladimir Putin may have picked his next targets: First a small breakaway state in Moldova, west of Ukraine, where thousands of Moscow’s troops are already stationed; then its close neighbor Odessa, Ukraine’s third-largest city and its largest remaining port, where pro-Russian and pro-government groups are tangling. If forces loyal to Putin can successfully disrupt Odessa, it could effectively cut the county of Ukraine in two.

Ten Welfare-Reform Lessons

New York City’s welfare system is managed out of a boxy 25-story office building on Water Street in Lower Manhattan. Approximately 5,000 employees work there, directing government programs that provide billions of dollars of taxpayer-funded assistance to the poor and near-poor. A solid majority of the workers at 180 Water Street are African-American or Latino; their voter registration is almost certainly overwhelmingly Democratic; and all but about 300 of them are union members. But from 1995 until this past December, the people who worked in New York’s principal social-services agency were leading one of the most conservative and successful welfare

MOSCOW — President Vladimir Putin, who repeatedly denied Russian troops had entered Crimea before the March referendum there, changed his version of those events Thursday, telling the nation that they had indeed been there all along. But the green-uniformed men observed in eastern Ukraine right now, storming buildings and raising the Russian flag, are not Russian, he said. “Those are local residents,” he said

The first suspected Heartbleed hacker is a 19-year-old kid with a faint mustache, short black hair, and a disposition that’s so diffident his lawyer often refers to him as “a nerd, a stereotypical computer geek.” But he’s a computer geek, his lawyer says, with a history of hacking. On Wednesday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced the arrest of Stephen Solis-Reyes, which the agency said went down “without incident.” Accusing the Ontario man of the “malicious breach of taxpayer data from the Canada Revenue Agency,” it charged him with two criminal counts of illegal cyber activity and alleged he had used

Like him or hate him, there is no disputing that Rush Limbaugh’s very special brand of mixing right-wing politics with his flare for entertainment has produced one of the most successful radio programs in the medium’s long history. Whatever the burning political question of the day, millions of Americans have relished the opportunity to tune into Rush’s program, knowing that he would quickly take that hot potato, throw a few gallons of verbal kerosene into the mix and elevate the matter into a five alarm fire with a just a few well-chosen words spoken in the style only Rush Limbaugh could

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it
