| Another Maverick County commissioner was indicted on allegations of corruption Thursday, making it three of the five commissioners facing federal charges. With the arrest of Precinct 4 Commissioner César Flores, 46, only Precinct 3 Commissioner Jose Luis Rosales and County Judge David Saucedo are not under indictment. Flores was released on $40,000 bail, and Precinct 1 Commissioner Eliaz Maldonado, who´s also facing corruption charges, is out on bail as well, so the court can make a quorum.

The article, of course, does not mention the political affiliation of this or the other two indicted county commissioners (nor the recently charged Justice of the Peace and two deputies).

It looks like all we can do is just sit here and watch our North European/Anglo-Saxon culture just slide away as it´s replaced by the diffusion of Mid-eastern and Latin American cultures.

The Democrat who implicated two members of the liberal super PAC Progress Kentucky in the secret taping of a campaign strategy meeting for Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell is changing his story. Jacob Conway, a member of the Jefferson County Democratic Executive Committee, said Friday he might have talked to only one of the men he accused, according to The Courier-Journal. Conway told the newspaper he is certain he talked with volunteer Curtis Morrison about the recording, but might not have spoken with Executive Director Shawn Reilly, contradicting what he said a day earlier.

During this year´s Conservative Political Action Conference, the American Conservative Union paraded its star lineup of African Americans who share their political philosophy. They were featured as a “stunning array of speakers from the African American community.” But in reality, they are not known by black America, with the exception of Dr. Benjamin Carson and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. The problem that conservatives face when featuring these people is that even though they are black, they are not in tune with African Americans. She also is charged with illegal voting in 2008 and 2011. The 58-year-old veteran Cincinnati poll worker, indicted Monday, faces eight counts of voter fraud. When Democrats in the Texas House met in late January to elect Rep. Yvonne Davis of Dallas as their leader by the slimmest of margins, she promised to listen to their voices and not to unelected outsiders, specifically, Houston Democratic benefactor Steve Mostyn. Almost immediately, the phone of the successful plaintiff´s lawyer lit up with text messages from lawmakers lamenting the remarks of the woman they had just elected as their leader. After all, Mostyn and his wife, Amber, have infused $25 million into Democratic efforts in the past two election cycles. Surely, some respect was owed.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
