Obama´s Goal Is to Break
the Republican Party

In the pre-9/11 movie "Independence Day," an embattled American president questions a captured alien. What, the fictional President - in full Rodney King mode - asks, do you invaders want us earthlings to do so that our two peoples can live together in peace? The answer, of course, is famous. "Die." That´s pretty much President Obama´s position to the Republicans - especially the GOP majority in the House of Representatives. In a penetrating analysis today in Washington Free Beacon, Matthew Continetti writes of how "a president known for his passivity and cool...displayed enormous and impressive energy

It should have been Bush´s goal to break the Democrat party. We could have done this, but we played nice and we got screwed.

I think we need to recognize who we are dealing with this time.

So, more compromise is the solution here? Sorry..that is what got us here in the first place. Just possibly the author is correct. If so the solution may be to let it go to hell and try to start over, because more compromise is leading us further down the rat hole

They hate us. Nothing short of our demise will do. There is no compromise for that, is there?

All the plans of mice and men... IMO he is trying to drown the Republican Party by pushing it under water like a beach ball. It will spring up only harder. Let us see.

That´s not his goal, that´s a stepping stone to his real goal. The Republicans are (sometimes) in the way of the destruction of the Constitution and full totalitarianism in the US.

Good news for him, though, is that, although it´s harder than with Democrats, it appears that Republicans in office can be bought and/or intimidated.

Despotism 101.
Define the opposition and destroy it.
And it cuts both ways.

#1 - you can´t hang that just on Bush 43. It´s always been that way.

BO has absolutely no desire to accept anything other than his own views. Compromise means that everyone else capitulates to his wonderfulness. He is narrow minded and and egoist.

The only amazing thing here is that he preaches compromise and respect but provides absolutely none of it himself. We were told he would be an excellent uniter of the Country but he is singularly unqualified to do anything like that. His whole presidency has been an exercise of bullying, unilateral power. When a Republican took the slightest step in the direction of presidential control, the MSM howled about the end of the world. But they cheer BO on. It´s pathetic.

And the reality is, if Conservatives got political power they would be undoing the progressives actions and as much of their party as they could because the two parties have become polar opposites and cannot function together. You cannot go left and right at the same time.

Most of us have seen this for some time. I used to think it was pure evil, now I´m not so sure. I don´t know whether the R party is worth saving.

The question is what will arise to take its place. There will ALWAYS be an opposition to tyranny, the only question is what it will look like and what it will be called.

Reply 10 - Posted by: starboard, 1/18/2013 10:26:46 AM     (No. 9124144)

The Republicans need to start thinking like generals engaged in a war. Actually, they need to think like Navy SEALS. It´s amazing they haven´t been able to figure out how to deal with this despot. Obama is not going to let up one iota. He´s ruthless and heartless and drunk on his own power. This is why there needs to be a fearless strategy to deal with him.

I´ll say it again and again. The only thing that is going to stop the Dims from destroying this country and impose communism on us is another revolution. And when that happens (I believe it will, just don´t know when) there will have to be made some corrections to the Constitution to insure the same thing NEVER happens again. Start with term limits on all members of Congress. Throw out the entire tax code and replace it with a simple system in which EVERYONE pays something. And make the selection of Senators back to what was originally intended. There are more changes that need to be made, but the original document is a good starting place. And we don´t need to change the original intent of the Constitution, just some of the ways we get there.

I have always envied the Democrat´s ability to keep their eye focused on the ball. For example, Chuck Schummer finally got into line to support Chuck Hagel.

If only Obama would devote as much energy to destroying our true enemies as he does the Republicans.

As a conservative, I can tell you that after all the years I have watched the republican party edge closer and closer to the dems, both in principle AND in the sleaze factor, it is NOT worth saving, if you are truly conservative.

Saving it would mean that conservatives would need to bite their tongues, get in line and follow the RINO rule that has been firmly established, and then, from within, turn it back around.

It ain´t gonna happen folks. The conservatives are either long gone, or are reaching their "fed up" point as each day, and each blunder goes by. The GOP Is poisoned lethally.

These are historic and troubling times. The unprecedented and brazen efforts by high-ranking elements within the Obama administration to silence whistleblowers and intimidate any reporters that would speak with them have starkly framed the choice the political press now faces. The administration has thrown the gauntlet down before the media with their display of abject disregard for the watchdog Fourth Estate. To the White House’s chagrin, the media will respond. In a two-fold assault on the freedom of the press, President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice has been implicated in efforts designed to intimidate both the press and

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department says it hasn´t prosecuted journalists for obtaining or publishing classified information and has no plans to. But open government and journalism advocates say the aggressive investigations of classified leaks by government officials under the Obama administration´s watch are having a chilling effect on news organizations´ ability to play a watchdog role. The renewed criticism of the Obama administration comes after new revelations that federal authorities secretly obtained the e-mails and tracked the movements of Fox News reporter James Rosen

The Senate Judiciary Committee’s passage of a sweeping immigration bill was expected. But the explosion of chants of “Yes we can! Yes we can!” and “Leahy! Leahy!” came as a surprise. The “Gang of Eight” bill passed by a wide 13-5 margin early Tuesday evening. Amid the cheering, Democratic committee chairman Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont could be seen motioning spectators to come up and participate in the celebration. The “Yes we can” chant was made popular by then-Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama in his 2008 presidential run.

The White House’s explanation of what it knew about the investigation into the IRS’s scrutiny of conservative political groups and how it planned for the eventual release of that information shifted once again Tuesday. Just a day after telling reporters that chief of staff Denis McDonough and other senior White House staff learned of the situation nearly a month ago, press secretary Jay Carney revealed Tuesday that White House officials had consulted with the Treasury Department on how to make the findings public.(Snip) Carney said he hadn’t revealed more information about which officials

Douglas Shulman, the former commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, said today he was “dismayed and saddened” that his agency had improperly targeting conservative groups, but declined to offer a direct apology and dismissed suggestions that he mislead Congress. The testimony from Shulman, who was making his first public appearance since the IRS controversy broke into the open two weeks ago, did not satisfy members of the Senate Finance Committee. He faced more than three hours of stern questioning from Democrats and Republicans, but said “I don’t believe I was aware” when asked

For a "failed scandal," Fast and Furious sure brought out the heavy hitters at the Department of Justice to deal with a whistleblower. The department´s inspector general has released a report accusing one US attorney, Dennis Burke, of leaking a document that smeared John Dodson, a key witness in the Fast and Furious scandal, and accusing other officials in the department of coming up with a strategy to discredit him. Breitbart: The DOJ IG said it found "Burke´s conduct in disclosing the Dodson memorandum to be inappropriate for a Department employee and wholly unbefitting a U.S. Attorney."

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.
