| Bette Midler is the latest liberal to follow the wisdom of former Obama administration official Rahm Emmanuel - "you never want a serious crisis to go to waste." Midler fired off a tweet today that used the country´s current mental health conversation post Sandy Hook as a way to pound her ideological enemy, the late Ronald Reagan.
|
Comments: I have always thought of Midler AS a mental health woe. And if I was as pretty as her, I think I´d shut up and go find a bridge to hide under and scare children.

Another lie from the left.
Civil libertarian activists forced the closure of mental health institutions (and facilities for the mentally retarded) around the country because the mentally ill and mentally retarded supposedly have "rights" to be part of society (i.e., live with minimal or no supervision). These same activists forced laws forbidding anyone else from knowing the mental diagnosis or issues of those thus integrated. For example, you have no right to know if a mentally retarded person living next to you is a sexual predator, or if the mentally ill person is prone to violence. And it´s the law that these people can vote, too, and they can be accompanied by a nice "case worker" in the voting booth.
Leftists had problems with the mentally ill and mentally retarded being "warehoused", and certainly in former times care was dreadful. But now it´s not, yet the facilities are being closed one by one. The activists claim it´s not OK to have separate facilities for the mentally ill or mentally retarded, conveniently forgetting that we have separate facilities for the physically ill (hospitals), the aged (nursing homes, assisted living facilities), age-restricted communities (prevalent in Arizona), and even the rich (gated communities).
Bette Midler is just repeating the same lies over and over. Having created the problem in the first place, leftist whores still want to blame anyone but themselves for the consequences of their actions. She also is stupid: ironically, in Newtown, Connecticut, there used to be a regional mental health facility where Adam Lanza might have been able to get treatment, but it was closed by pressure from civil libertarian activists in 1995.
Shut up and sing, Bette.

Here we go with the same old lies... Yes, the ACLU was behind a lot of it and in the state of California it was Pat Brown (Democrat and father of Jerry aka Edmund Jr.) who was behind emptying the mental institutions. The legislatiin passed under Brown and the actual releases took place after Reagan took over as Governor. But he couldn´t stop what already went through the courts. He had NOTHING to do with it but the left loves to blame him. They repeat lies over and over until people believe them to be the truth. That is their modus operandus.

Why doesn´t she blame the Founders who gave us the right to defend ourselves with firearms a/k/a guns. She is another ignoramous. Reagan was forced by law to release the mentally insane.

Nice of old Bette to blame our current health care "woes" on President Reagan. Unfortunately he is no longer here to comment. So I´ll say this. Bette you need to use the wind beneath your wings, take your twin sister Joy Behar and fly on back to your padded cells. That way we won´t have to be subjected to your mindless blabberings any further.

Remember this woman when she was making her way to stardom? She would grab her breasts, squeeze them then shake them at the host on the TV show? Or talk about crude sex she was indulging in? Or the drugs she was using? I think we can all pretty well judge where THIS slut´s mental health issues originated.

Maybe Bette can explain to those of us who had mentally ill relatives in the 1970s why we could not have them committed to institutions, why we had to watch helplessly while they became homeless, why we worried about what they would do to themselves or others. I´ve heard the Reagan blame from the left for a long time. It´s what they´re told. They are too dim to find out for themselves.

As you may have heard, Kevin Williamson made the leap from “National Review writer” to “Great American Hero” last night when he decided that enough was enough, that he could no longer idly stand by and watch the shameful state of affairs in our nation’s theaters go unchallenged, that he had to take matters into his own hands. From his account: The lady seated to my immediate right (very close quarters on bench seating) was fairly insistent about using her phone. I asked her to turn it off. She answered: “So don’t look.

The letter To Congress from the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Council of the American Federation of Government Employees Affiliated with AFL-CIO warns of the discretionary power the bill gives to “political appointees” and takes away from law enforcers: “Congress can and must take decisive steps to limit the discretion of political appointees and empower ICE and CBP to perform their respective missions

The American ammo shortage has been a boon for foreign ammo makers as ammunition imports into the U.S. doubled during the first months of 2013. According to data from the Commerce Department and the International Trade Commission, imports of ammo cartridges as well as shotguns have just about doubled during the first two months of 2013. For the first two months of 2013, about 457 million cartridges were imported into the U.S. — more than double the amount of cartridges that were imported during the first two months of 2012.

The House was in no rush to take up an internet tax bill that senators approved Monday night. And even if the House takes up the issue, lawmakers said, it will be a bill very different from the Seante´s. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said to expect “thoughtful” consideration in the House, which will involve committee debate and amendments. The version passed in the Senate by a 69-27 vote “has a long way to go,” Goodlatte said Monday.

The Montgomery County Council approved a trio of pay raises for union employees, which will cost the county almost $32 million in fiscal 2014. The council approved the firefighters, police and county government employees union packages 8-1, with only Councilman Phil Andrews, D-Gaithersburg/Rockville, voting against the contracts. He repeatedly has said they´re too high and unsustainable. Though the packages span two years, the council approved only the first year of the deals, which would give employees an average of 7 to 10 percent raises.

For months now, men have been starving themselves in Guantanamo Bay to get the attention of the American people. And for weeks these men, prisoners of the War on Terror, many of whom have been cleared for release, have had the attention of the White House, which is filled with officials, including the President, who sympathize with the prisoners’ plight. “It’s not sustainable,” President Obama said Tuesday, breaking his silence about the protest against his own government. “I mean, the notion that we’re going to continue to keep over 100 individuals in a no-man’s land in perpetuity."

Specifically, Crowley said it did not appear that authorities failed to share information or “connect the dots” with the Tsarnaev brothers: (Snip) The facts surrounding Crowley’s assertion seem to suggest otherwise. Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The Internal Revenue Service´s watchdog told top Treasury officials around June 2012 he was investigating allegations the tax agency had targeted conservative groups, for the first time indicating that Obama administration officials were aware of the explosive matter in the midst of the president´s re-election campaign. The disclosure to the Treasury general counsel and the deputy secretary was a cursory one, according to J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration. He said he didn´t reveal conclusions of the probe, which was in its early stages, and his disclosure came as part
