| General Motors Co. North America chief Mark Reuss said he isn´t giving up on electric vehicles, despite struggling industry sales in 2012. "The electric car is not dead," Reuss said at the Automotive News World Congress on Wednesday night. He said despite setbacks, the Detroit automaker isn´t giving up on electric autos, even though it had to abandon its initial forecast for its plug-in hybrid Chevrolet Volt. In 2011, GM sold fewer than 7,700 Volts, below its target of 10,000. It then abandoned goals to sell 45,000 in 2012 and was forced to idle its Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant

To paraphrase Frank Zappa, the electric car is not dead...it just smells funny. Notice how articles touting Volt sales figures never mention what fraction of the cars are bought for government use, using taxpayer money.

The Volt is dead. When we the taxpayers no longer subsidize this car with the $7,000 and Ally (owned by the taxpayers) eventually goes bankrupt, no one will buy a Volt. There are many of us out here who will never buy a GM product again in our lifetime. Many of us are sickened to the core with 0bama´s handling of the GM bankruptcy, and all the taxpayer money that goes to the greedy bloated unions.

That´s funny.........I read the same headline in a NYT´s article.........from 1901.
Interestingly, the first electric cars-which came about prior to 1900!!- had a range of...........40 miles.
Amazing how physics refuses to recognize politics.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued.
