| WASHINGTON — Channel 2 Action News has obtained photos of a costly renovation of a government official´s bathroom. Channel 2´s Scott MacFarlane secured images inside the office at the Washington headquarters of the U.S. Interior Department. The renovation was done on the interior secretary´s private office bathroom. The bathroom is approximately 100 square feet and cost about $222,000 to renovate, making it more expensive that many homes. MacFarlane obtained photos of the renovated bathroom through the Freedom of Information Act.

The article DOES say that this reno happened in 2007, before our dear reader and his lacky salazar were in office.
Just another GSA expenditure that had no oversight whatsoever, apparently.
I´m still scratching my head trying to figure out why anyone would need a Sub-Zero refrigerator in a bathroom....???

For #2, a fridge is used in high end bathrooms to keep medicines and make them last longer. Also, it is a more discrete method of storing insulin.

I read a book about gov´t waste in the Jimmy Carter years and it had some mind bending waste. I read a book my grandfather had bought in 1946 about gov´t waste and it was the same story with just different names...

There´s no story here. Try any renovation done by the Fed Gov´t and the cost is double what you might spend. Plus, this stale story is 5+ years old. Why is it posted? It´s not news that government spends money foolishly.

Well, #4, I hadn´t thought of that. My initial thought was that a $3,500.00 Sub Zero fridge was a rather extravagant expense to keep the beer cold. Come to think of it, it´s also extravagant for insulin or other meds.
We have a $600. under the counter fridge/ice maker in our office and it works very well for any of the above - but it´s in the office - not in the bathroom......

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
