| Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) will be the opening act for President Obama´s inauguration while Beyonce will close the show. The fact was pointed out by Brent Colburn, communications director for the Presidential Inaugural Committee, at a media briefing on Wednesday. “I just love the idea of any show that opens with Chuck Schumer and closes with Beyonce," he said. Schumer, the chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, will make the opening remarks for Obama´s swearing-in on Monday while Beyonce will be the final act at the ceremony on the West Front of the Capitol — singing the National Anthem.

Few things I hate more than urbanized versions of the national anthem. And why the hell are these people singing it anyway,when they hate what the stars and stripes stand for,to begin with.
I´m sure Obama´s corporate bankrollers are picking up the tab for this woman´s appearance.

Europe´s largest economy Germany, which has been criticized for not doing enough to help struggling euro zone countries, has topped a poll as the world´s most popular country. The survey carried out for the BBC, polled 26,000 people in 25 countries, and asked them to rate 16 countries and the European Union, as a whole, on whether their influence on the world was mainly positive or negative. Germany came out on top, with 59 percent of the survey´s participants awarding it a positive rating. The country moved up three percentage points from its 2012 position.

COLLEGE PARK, Md- In the Internal Revenue Service targeting scandal and others, Washington and the media are obsessed with the question: What did the president know and when did he know it? That misses the point. Barack Obama´s presidency is much more damaging to the nation than the mistakes of subordinates now coming to light. Most recently, we learned Obama met with anti-Tea Party IRS Union President Colleen Kelley just before the tax agency began targeting conservative groups. Is that the smoking gun? Was the president in on the plan to harass opponents of big government?

LONDON- Two British men of Nigerian descent accused of hacking a soldier to death on a London street in revenge for wars in Muslim countries were known to security services, a source close to the investigation said Thursday. One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance.
