Original Article

Gov. Deval Patrick announced a gun control bill today that targets mental illness, closes a background-check loophole at gun shows “Mental illness is a disease that can be treated, and our communities are safer when the appropriate services and supports are available for people in need,” said Patrick in a statement. “I am encouraged by the palpable consensus in our Legislature that the time for action is now. All of us must pull in the same direction to bring about real change in this state and across the country.” Patrick’s plan comes hours before his State of the State address

Comments:
A future presidential candidate from the liberal state of MA, takes his cue from the phony in the WH.

Let me get this straight...they are going to pass new gun control laws to make everyone safer. So are they saying that the laws the passed before were flawed? Are these same people passing the new laws? Will these not also be flawed? So, the default liberal policy is to have more of what made the problem worse in the first place! There appears to be no concern about the policies regarding institutionalizing unstable people who need supervision re: their medication. I do believe this was a brain child of Carter.

I have to say, I´m pretty surprised at how lame some of these new gun-control proposals are. OK, NY state went off the deep end with that 7-round magazine garbage, but that´s NY, the unfortunate majority of those people are idiot sheep anyway. But background checks at gun shows? "Dealers" at gun shows already have to do background checks. One gun a month? Kind of old hat, has nothing whatsoever to do with Newtown, as a practical matter a pain but no real impediment to the average citizen arming himself. I do wonder what "high-powered ammunition" would mean, and how "Restricted" the "access" would be. But this is Maryland, with an Obama wanna-be as governor, another blue sheeple state. I´m not hyperventilating over 0´s executive orders either, they seem to be pretty much liberal bureaucratic claptrap and passing the buck to Congress for the heavy lifting. Even that "snitch doctor" stuff is voluntary--and I can voluntarily tell any would-be snitch doctor to get stuffed. I know all about the camel and his nose, but I´m kinda surprised at how un-radical most of this stuff is.

If mental illness is a disease that can be treated, why aren´t liberals getting the treatment they need?

Deval Patrick is the same lunatic that can´t find 19,000 welfare parasites milking the system.

President Obama is facing a perfect storm of scandals, cover-ups and criminality that threatens to sweep him from power. This week marks the 40th anniversary of the first Watergate hearings. They eventually brought down President Nixon, forcing him to resign. Mr. Obama is the liberal Nixon — a corrupt chief executive, who is presiding over a lawless administration. Like Tricky Dick, the Obama administration has an “enemies list.” The Internal Revenue Service has admitted that its agents deliberately targeted conservative, Tea Party, evangelical and pro-Israel Jewish groups, denying or blocking their requests for tax-exempt status.

Measuring the ratio of someone´s waist to their height is a better way of predicting their life expectancy than body mass index (BMI), the method widely used by doctors when judging overall health and risk of disease, researchers said. (SNIP) People with the highest waist-to-height ratio, whose waistlines measured 80 per cent of their height, lived 17 years fewer than average.

WASHINGTON — In one way, President Obama’s young age is a liability: He’ll likely live long enough to see how poorly history judges his presidency. It’s legacy-building time at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, and things aren’t looking good for 44. Though folks in the White House are quick to blame Republicans for ensuring that Obama’s place in future presidential rankings falls somewhere near Jimmy Carter’s, other people — including some Democrats in Washington — say the fault lies in large part with the president himself.

The father woke first, ears ringing. The last thing Donald Evans remembered was shouting to the pilot seated beside him -- "Pull up!" -- before the single-engine plane slammed into a low mountain 37 miles west of McGrath. One look told him that man was now dead. So was the woman sitting behind Evans, an admired school teacher named Julia Walker who lived in Anvik, the Yukon River village that Evans and his wife, both 32, had been flying to as they began their first year teaching in rural Alaska.

BOSTON —U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren is calling on Congress to stop student loan interest rates from doubling this summer. The Massachusetts Democrat introduced a bill Tuesday which would let students pay the same interest rate on their government loans as banks. Student loan interest rates are set to jump from 3.4 to 6.8 percent in July. Warren said banks can borrow from the Federal Reserve at an interest rate of less than 1 percent.

The protesters at the Worcester funeral home are right: Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s body doesn’t belong there. He should be buried among his own people, back in the land he called home and among the people whose values he shared. That’s why I say, “Send him back to Cambridge!” (Snip) Sorry, my talk radio friends, but when I hear that a terrorist is taking a dirt nap, I don’t protest, I celebrate. I have no interest in the juvenile “wrap him in bacon and drop him in a shark tank” posturing. Let’s leave the desecration of corpses to the Islamist barbarians.

When the bombs exploded three weeks ago today, I was three miles from the finish line, running toward it. The GoPro video camera I was wearing captured the chaos as we became aware of what had happened — frantic runners scrambling for cellphones to find out whether loved ones were dead or alive, some police officers yelling that “the marathon is canceled” and others telling the throng to just to keep running. I thought that camera was gone, lost in the confusion. But just a few days ago, it arrived in the mail

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

"Can you see in your mind´s eye a way that this might not have been political, that this was a misguided stupid way to sort, but that they didn´t intend it to be some kind of political attempt to harass the Tea Party?" So actually asked CNN´s Candy Crowley of her guest Sen.
