Manti Te´o´s inspirational
girlfriend story a hoax

To tell the story of Manti Te´o, Notre Dame´s star linebacker, one must discuss his inspirational play in this September´s win over Michigan State. Just days after the death of his grandmother and his girlfriend, Te´o racked up 12 tackles and recovered a fumble in a 20-3 victory over the Spartans. The following Saturday, after Lennay Kekua´s funeral, Te´o made two interceptions in a 13-6 victory over Michigan. In articles in Sports Illustrated and the South Bend Tribune and in interviews on ESPN, Te'o would recount how his girlfriend, Kekua, requested that he send white flowers to her funeral.

Reggie Bush

Cam Newton

Manti Te´o...........

The Heismann committee needs to do a much better job vetting these candidates.

When it comes to Notre Dame, that is also a hoax, for anything surrounding the Heisman campaign.
Paul Hornung was pimped out by a 1-8 Notre Dame team, and he won the Heisman over Jimmy Brown of Syracuse university. Brown is considered to be the greatest athlete of the 20th century, who starred at Syracuse in football, lacrosse, basketball and track.
John Huarte, 1964 or thereabouts, of notre dame qb fame, won the Heisman, and he was almost as big a myth as Manti´s nonexistent girlfriend.
So the story doesn´t surprise me.

He claims he didn´t know...? WTH?!?
Maybe the inspiration came from Obama! After all, Obama had a "composite" girlfriend.

/s off/

It´s a Hawaiian thing. He fell in love with the daughter of Obama´s composite girlfriend.

It always seemed to be a strange story or coincidence...
girlfriend dying at same time as grandmother.

I was for Johnny Football for Heisman anyway.

And I see the Texas A & M Athletic Director had a chat with Johnny and parents...
encouraging responsible behavior and knowing the consequences of actions.

Not a bad idea.

Now if we can just contain Brent Musburger.
See that AJ´s hot babe will be working the Super Bowl in Nawlins this year.
Just make sure Joe Namath does not show up inebriated... pleeeezzzee.
All we need is for him to try to paw someone on-camera.... s/o

My gut feeling is that he´s a liar.

Reading the article explains a bit further. It still strains belief, however, he wouldn´t be the first person duped.

I had a flesh and blood friend whose sad story I fell for hook, line, and sinker...and I was about his age at the time.

Why didn´t the writers of the articles in Sports Illustrated ans ESPN verify their stories before running with them? Deaths are verifed so easily.

It has the making´s of a great Lifetime Movie.

Anyone who has any doubts about this guy´s having lied and lied and lied and lied some more need only read this piece from deadspin.com. There is a link to it embedded in the posted article, but many won´t find it.

Was he in on the hoax? You betcha. It was a massive publicity stunt. And that´s sick.

I went to the site recommended by #8.

Oh yes...he was not an innocent. He supposedly met her frequently.

It is very telling that NONE of the big name "news" organizations did NO fact checking at anytime.

And we wonder how an imposter, phoney baloney, know nothing, inexperienced person became President, despite all the contradictory information.

All he had to do was invent what he wanted himself to be...and suddenly it is fact.

Per #5: "Now if we can just contain Brent Musburger."

What did he do wrong? Don´t say anything about the Miss Alabama comments, because there was nothing inappropriate about what he said.

#9 says it best. I´m surprised, also, that there wasn´t mention in the article about his graduation from Punahou School - the same school where the immigrant child from Indonesia spent his days chooming.

ESPN, NBC, Golf Channel~ they all live for these tragic death stories and any sort of public battle with serious illness du jour. He just gave them exactly what they want. Too bad grandma´s death was not enough for him. Did she really die?

Uh oh, Te´o. Karma is not going to be pretty. You might regret this x100 someday.

When Te´o was idolized as a great football player, it was frequently mentioned that he attended the same elite high school as did that guy in the White House. Now that we see that there is not as much substance as there is myth--or shall we say trouble with the truth--this alumni connection will be buried.

The truth will out. Every interview Manti has ever given is being dissected to determine whether or not he was in on the hoax or not, so we´ll all know the truth soon enough.

If he was involved in the hoax, does that mean he orchestrated all the tweets and online communications with this girl for months on end with the intent of "killing her off" at some point, creating an imaginary illness to kill off his imaginary girlfriend at just the right time to motivate the team to go shake down some thunder and win just one more for the Gipper?

I have a hard time believing anyone could be so cold stone ambitious to orchestrate something like that. (Besides Hillary.)

I guess fact-checking must not be taught in journalism school anymore. How could they just accept things that are easily verifiable, such as that she went to Stanford? Didn´t they look for the death notice? What about her funeral--any questions about that?

A new analysis of the American Freshman Survey, which has accumulated data for the past 47 years from 9 million young adults, reveals that college students are more likely than ever to call themselves gifted and driven to succeed, even though their test scores and time spent studying are decreasing. Psychologist Jean Twenge, the lead author of the analysis, is also the author of a study showing that the tendency toward narcissism in students is up 30 percent in the last thirty-odd years.

As godless secularism becomes more and more entrenched in our culture, the Christmas season is one of the most contentious times in our calendar.  Every year, there are stories in the news of banned Christmas trees or of Christmas trees renamed "holiday trees."  Christmas concerts at public schools draw threats of a lawsuit (even when the poor in Africa are the beneficiaries!), and U.S. congressmen are barred from wishing their constituents a "Merry Christmas" in their official mailings.  This year, even Charlie Brown is creating controversy.

Washington Post reporter and author Bob Woodward said Wednesday morning that the fiscal cliff talks are like the movie “Groundhog Day.” “It’s Groundhog Day: The question is, who’s playing Bill Murray?” he told Politico’s Mike Allen at Playbook Breakfast Wednesday morning. “It’s such a repetition: It’s the same players, at the same seats, at the same table.” He said that it’s still too early to tell how the negotiations between President Barack Obama and Congress — specifically, House Speaker John Boehner — will turn out. “I think anyone who thinks they know is wrong,” he said.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.
