WINDBER, Pa. — A southwestern Pennsylvania hospital will stop delivering babies after March 31 because its obstetricians are either leaving or refocusing their practices, and because hospital officials believe they can´t afford it based on projected reimbursements under looming federal health care reforms. The Windber Medical Center, about 60 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, is losing two obstetricians and two others are shifting their focus more to gynecology. Hospital officials say the population of women of child-bearing age is dropping and that the number of births the hospital would be called upon to

The headling should start with "Because of 0bamacare"... This is just the very beginning of the destruction that will be brought about by the horrific 0bamacare. I´m terribly upset and concerned about the fate of our nation.

I´m afraid all the hand wringing & whining is a "day late & a dollar short". People should have stood up & said "NO" before Obamacare was signed & meant it. No matter how much people want it, or how much politicians get involved no one will be able to put the genie back in the bottle. The clutching fingers of regulation & involvement are already intertwined in our health care system. Sorry folks, it´s only going to get worse.

Folks, you´re on your own. The federal government is not your friend.

If you think this is bad- you are living in a utopian fantasy- It is only the tip end of the ice berg. Far, far worse is yet to come. I actually read the "Øbama Health Care Bill"- cover to cover- As it is revealed to us as it is implemented, true and greater horrors are going to shock the people. This monstrosity is the end of the Republic folks!

Perhaps the kenyan klown will issue an executive order requiring those OB/GYN physicians to deliver babies.
He likes to tell his subjects what to do.

They just shut down maternity at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton (Carter County), TN, too. And there isn´t even cab service that will reach the nearest Obstetrics unit, which is in the next county.

We´re turning into a Third World country.

Scary? If I were pregnant in Carter County, I´d be terrified.

My grandmother had 11 babies during and after the depression, all born at home. One was stillborn. One girl had a heart problem and lived until she was a teenager. The other nine have had much longer lives and raised families of their own. It would be very scary not to have a choice about going to the hospital to have one´s babies. I pray for mothers everywhere. This is Obama´s and democrat´s war against women.

Between Obamacare, new CAFE standards for fuel mileage, the Democrats´ desire for more gun control and the coming hyper-inflation, we´ll soon be delivering babies at home, riding horses and horse-drawn wagons and shooting at game (because we can´t afford food) with black-powder muzzle-loading rifles.

We won´t be third-world, we´ll be 18th century!

#4 -- he´ll issue an executive order all right, but he won´t be requiring the doctors to DELIVER the babies............

"Gynecology", in this context, being a code word.

Several comments came close to my thoughts.

If hospitals drop one service or another to avoid various costs or difficulties from ObamaCare the government will obviously respond by ordering them to provide the services. Or else.

At least such orders will be tried. That is Obama´s mode of operation.

Homeland Security can police the wards and remind the medical staff of their orders. We have SWAT teams galore. Why not MOP, Medical Oversight Police, on site?

Not a problem. Let more foreign doctors come here on special VISAs which was the plan all along.

It does not matter if the government grants a gazillion Visas to Asian and ME docs...if the hospital and clinics close down specialization areas, those docs´ skills won´t be needed.

Obamacare will close hospitals and those with acute specialities all over the country as the cost will never be recoverable for operation and insurance.

In some other universe this would be shocking. In this universe it’s par for the course, and I don’t mean the golf course, but the guy who makes the golf course his second home. The US Attorney for the District of Columbia, Ronald C. Machen – the man responsible for the aggressive surveillance and phone record scrutiny at Fox News – is also a big donor to the Obama Campaigns. At the time of his appointment, the Washington Post wrote a profile on Machen including this tidbit: Over the years, he has donated $4,350 to Obama’s campaigns.

If in any of these situations even one person of influence had adhered to the basic tenets of liberalism all of these scandals could have been avoided. "When you grow government this big, these kinds of scandals are inevitable, and (President Obama) bears the responsibility for that," Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal told a group of Virginia Republicans over the weekend. Other conservatives are echoing this view -- that the scandals embroiling the administration undermine Obama´s push for an activist "big government." I guess when you are a hammer, everything looks like a nail. For the GOP, anything that

The Justice Department did more than seize a Fox News reporter´s emails while suggesting he was a criminal "co-conspirator" in a leak case -- it did so under one of the most serious wartime laws in America, the Espionage Act. It´s the same law used by the Nixon administration to go after The New York Times and Daniel Ellsberg over the leak of the Pentagon Papers. It´s the law used to charge the Rosenbergs, American communists, for allegedly passing secret information to the Soviet Union -- they were executed for the offense in 1953. One Washington attorney,

In one of the most fiery interviews on Fox News Channel, Megyn Kelly took on the attorney for Kermit Gosnell, the abortion doctor convicted of murdering three babies and manslaughter of a woman. Gosnell was sentenced to more than three consecutive life sentences after performing hundreds of late-term abortions. On America Live, Jim McMahon continued to defend his client against the horrific details of his crimes. Kelly started the interview saying, “We don’t tar the attorney with the sins of the client.” McMahon said Gosnell was “disappointed and upset” over the verdict.

Impeaching President

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Several days ago some fringe “conservatives” mentioned the idea of impeaching President Obama. For reasons as obvious as they are numerous, that is a terrible idea. Saying that is like throwing chum out to the worst conservatives, the ones who act like liberals, the ones who are all angry instinct, who rather than strategize their way to victory would rather sweep the pieces off the table and throw a tantrum on the floor. Serious and effective conservatism demands putting facts and reason above emotion and hysteria. Some comments concerning potential impeachment are so

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
