| Rep. John Fleming (R-La.), who was a family physician before coming to Congress in 2009, argued on Wednesday that doctors have no right to ask patients about their status as gun owners, as an executive order from President Obama would encourage them to do. "I came to Congress as a family physician with great concerns about the federal government intruding on the doctor-patient relationship," Fleming said. "By his executive actions today, President Obama is pushing the government further into the exam room. "He´s trying to press doctors into government service by pushing them to ask patients,

Comments: Amen to that! This is just one of the insane things in the Executive Orders. This regime is bound and determined to push doctors out of practicing medicine. Between 0bamacare and now this they will have time only for complying with the outrageous regulations from this fascist regime.

Answer only questions pertaining to your health. Cross everything else out. Tell the doctor you´re not there to discuss politics.
Since your medical plan is only paying him for about seven minutes worth of his time (a doctor actually told me that HMOs limit your visit to seven minutes with the doctor), he probably won´t argue.

I once had the famous Dr Hermann´s son as GP...he was as well my gunsmith....he was good at both... My current doc has more guns than I.

My doc and I go shooting together all the time. My wife works in a medical office, one of the requirements is that she be able to use a gun. The difference between Alaska and DC I guess.

A psychiatrist should be able to ask his patient whether or not he owns guns...especially if the patient has suicidal or homicidal ideations. Use a little common sense here. No one is mandating that every doctor ask in every patient visit. But yes, there are patient visits where the patient says, "Doc, I´m feeling like life isn´t worth living. I´m not sure I want to go on this way." The doc should be able to ask the question.

The answer to the question is always "NO". Not "none of your business" or "I´m offended", or even leaving it blank. Anything other than a no will go down as a yes. Simply say no and let it go at that.

The sinister thing is that there are many physicians, most of them in or around academic medicine, who think it is a swell idea to ask patients, including children, about firearms in the home. Their argument is that it is a legitimate health concern. Of course this is a very slippery slope with no obvious stopping point. Once physicians begin to inquire about anything they or the government consider a health hazard, anything goes. Children can be interrogated about their parents´ alcohol use, driving habits, and, yes, political views. The camel´s nose is in the tent - and there is a lot of camel, indeed a whole herd of camels, outside and ready to come in.
The danger to America and to American values and liberties does not come from the individual calling himself Barack Obama. He is merely the spokesman, the mouthpiece, the logos for a world view that is, unfortunately, shared by large numbers of Americans, many of them in positions of authority and influence. The sickness is therefore much more serious than it seems. It has spread like a malignancy throughout American society. Barack Obama could disappear tomorrow and America would still be every bit as sick as it is now. Another Barack Obama would promptly arise to take his place.

I trained my son very early to never, ever discuss anything that happens in our home, what we own, what we eat, what we discuss--nothing--with doctors, teachers, friends, no one! I saw articles taped to his pediatrician´s walls about guns and knew he was a lib. I have reminded him again of this now that he´s 18. I will lie if I am asked.

Tomorrow, Lois Lerner -- director of Exempt Organizations at the IRS when all the targeting occurred -- is going to come to Capitol Hill and take the Fifth Amendment. It will be quite a spectacle. As a matter of law, a jury cannot use someone´s invocation of the Fifth Amendment as evidence of guilt. But we are not in a court of law -- we are in the court of public opinion, as everyone in The White House knows, and Lerner wouldn´t be taking the Fifth unless she was in danger of prosecution . . . or

As the media, by and large, ignores the train wreck that is on the horizon with ObamaCare, yet another union has jumped ship on the president’s health care overhaul. Back in April, you may recall, the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers, and Allied Workers officially said thanks but no thanks to the president’s plan. Well, now, a major labor union in the grocery industry is balking at the policy. According to The Hill: The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) — a 1.3 million-member labor group that twice endorsed Obama for president —

Outgoing IRS Commissioner Steven Miller told a Senate committee Tuesday that the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative groups was not partisan, but merely “foolish mistakes” made by employees trying to be “more efficient.” “I do not believe that partisanship motivated the people who engaged in the practices described in the Treasury Inspector General’s report,” Miller said in his opening statement before the Senate Finance Committee. “I reviewed the Treasury Inspector General’s report and I believe its conclusions are consistent with that.” “I think that what happened here was that foolish mistakes were

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Here´s why this has legs: Number one, as Kirsten says, everybody is outraged. Everybody knows what the IRA can do, and everybody´s afraid of it. Second, because you now have somebody that´s going to plead the Fifth, in a court of law, the jury is not supposed to interpret that as hiding something, but this isn´t a court of law, and we aren´t a jury. Illegal immigrants seeking a reprieve under an election-year program implemented by the Obama administration are being approved at a rate of over 99 percent -- a situation that has the immigration officer union raising concerns about fraud and security risks. The program in question is called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which allows some illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children to seek tentative legal status. It was the administration´s answer to the "Dream Act," a bill Congress drafted but did not approve. The union representing thousands of employees in U.S. Citizenship and

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care?
