W.H. Releases Letters from Little
Kids Pleading for Gun Control

The Weekly Standard, by Daniel Halper

Original Article

Posted By:PChristopher, 1/16/2013 8:22:31 AM

The White House today released letters from little kids pleading for gun control, just hours before President Obama is to release a comprehensive proposal to limit guns and ammunition. The letters were released to the Associated Press in what appears to be a coordinated effort to help shape the narrative the day of Obama´s announcement.

Comments:
Oh, how sweet...I´m sure they just copied whatever teacher wrote on the board for them...if they were even from kids at all.

Four more years of this clown. But you know what? Most Americans are so brain-addled these days, he knows exactly what he´s doing.

Since when is government policy formulated based upon letters from small children?? It´s a sad day for America

I have four granddaughters, ages 10 to 22. I don´t think it would ever have occurred to any of them to write to the president about guns. They might have written about any number of other subjects, but guns????

Does this remind anyone of Jimmy Carter´s supposed bedtime conversation with a very young Amy about "nuclear proliferation"?

Just when you think the agitator-in-chief cannot possibly get any more insultingly cynical, he springs the old "for the children ploy". Shades of Saddam Hussein asking one of HIS human-shield-children if he had "enough milk". Like Hussein, the pathetic ´dear leader of the left´ has NO shame. What a terrible time in the history of this country as we painfully see once again that Elections really DO have consequences.

Why not? We are already being led by children.

Well, those children will never have the RIGHTS the Founding Fathers intended them to have.
Who said "Those who would trade liberty for security will have neither" ?

Get use to it - 4 more years of the most narcissistic human being in America doing whatever he can to ´create his legacy´...

So, wonder if Obama turned those letters over to the cops - as was done by one high school who told the students to write ´anti-violence pledges´ - which were then handed over to police for potential ´crime solving´ via handwriting samples?

Nothing like using a ´tragedy´ to convince the kids to hand over evidence w/o a warrant, eh?

Noted elsewhere today - the White House has just ´doubled´ the required signatures on petitions filed with ´em - before an answer is required. Guess they think a petition for Impeachment couldn´t top that number?

As if...

Just when you think it can´t get any worse. Ø is shameless and, sadly, the sheeple have no clue. If a Republican president pulled this kind of stunt, the MSM would be going berserk.

Is this how it works? Perhaps we can get children to write letters about cutting government spending, which currently puts them in debt to the tune of about $50K/person from the moment they are born.

Little children are being exploited. By the president of the United States.

They do not understand the Constitution. They do not understand mental illness. They do not understand anything that goes into this complicated issue.

Their emotions are being manipulated and used to further an agenda.

This is despicable.

Who cares what little kids think? I bet I can get a million letters saying they don´t want to go to school. Or maybe they should get ice cream for every meal.

Reply 21 - Posted by: SoCalGal, 1/16/2013 9:06:02 AM     (No. 9119540)

It´s my guess that these letters were the written as classroom projects instigated by the kids´ teachers.

Reply 22 - Posted by: Pearson365, 1/16/2013 9:06:44 AM     (No. 9119542)

Commenters are ignoring fact that surely 60% or more of these children voted for Obama in 2012. They were not aware that the local Obama for America office used their names, but those votes still counted in the hundreds of voting precincts that went 100% for Obama.

So if they can vote without knowing, they can stand around Obama without knowing the Consitutiion.

Seriously, Obama use of children is an eerie update of Michael Jackson. Weird that the WH would do a reprise of the Neverland Ranch.

An understanding of current social issues are a part of many states´ education standards. So, letters about gun control from children don´t surprise me at all. The social studies lesson was extended to a writing/language lesson and with the inauguration coming up, the President is already the focus of many classrooms. Wonder how many teachers will earn some extra merit pay if one of their student´s letters was chosen.

What "uncoached" 8 year old routinely uses the word recommend? Next, we alredy have laws saying we cannot own machine guns, enforce the laws we have. Also, if you wnt to really STOP the violence, get the guns out of the criminals who are NOT suppose to have them and commit 99.9% of the gun crime. Why do they have no answer when we ask them about taking guns out of the hands of criminals??? These letters sound like they were written by parents or teachers and they used the child´s name to do it. How about if we get conservative parents to get THEIR kids to write letter so obama will not infringe on our constitutional rights???? Will they post those letters???

this indoctrination we are seeing in our schools systems could have and should have been stopped long ago. I worked with my children every day to teach them the truth about this nation, not the garbage being spewed by teachers and new history books. It is amazing what you can find in the library in the old stacks and back rooms, history books written with in years of the events happening and compare them to what is written to day about the same event. If I had told whoppers like that I wouldn´t be able to sit down for a week.

From his account: The lady seated to my immediate right (very close quarters on bench seating) was fairly insistent about using her phone. I asked her to turn it off. She answered: “So don’t look.

The American ammo shortage has been a boon for foreign ammo makers as ammunition imports into the U.S. doubled during the first months of 2013. According to data from the Commerce Department and the International Trade Commission, imports of ammo cartridges as well as shotguns have just about doubled during the first two months of 2013. For the first two months of 2013, about 457 million cartridges were imported into the U.S. — more than double the amount of cartridges that were imported during the first two months of 2012.

The House was in no rush to take up an internet tax bill that senators approved Monday night. And even if the House takes up the issue, lawmakers said, it will be a bill very different from the Seante´s. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said to expect “thoughtful” consideration in the House, which will involve committee debate and amendments. The version passed in the Senate by a 69-27 vote “has a long way to go,” Goodlatte said Monday.

The Montgomery County Council approved a trio of pay raises for union employees, which will cost the county almost $32 million in fiscal 2014. The council approved the firefighters, police and county government employees union packages 8-1, with only Councilman Phil Andrews, D-Gaithersburg/Rockville, voting against the contracts. He repeatedly has said they´re too high and unsustainable. Though the packages span two years, the council approved only the first year of the deals, which would give employees an average of 7 to 10 percent raises.

For months now, men have been starving themselves in Guantanamo Bay to get the attention of the American people. And for weeks these men, prisoners of the War on Terror, many of whom have been cleared for release, have had the attention of the White House, which is filled with officials, including the President, who sympathize with the prisoners’ plight. “It’s not sustainable,” President Obama said Tuesday, breaking his silence about the protest against his own government. “I mean, the notion that we’re going to continue to keep over 100 individuals in a no-man’s land in perpetuity."

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

"We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
