| In the wake of the horrific elementary-school shootings in Newtown, Conn., last month, many Americans, desperate to do something in response, have decided that much stricter gun control is the answer. Democrats have proposed reinstating the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, and Sen. Dianne Feinstein has proposed legislation that would even restrict the use of some semiautomatic handguns. As a former prosecutor in Washington, D.C., who enforced firearms and ammunition cases while a severe local gun ban was still in effect, I am skeptical of the benefits that many imagine will result from additional gun-control efforts.

Factual, logical proof that the urge to restrict law abiding citizen´s access to guns will certainly fail to reduce crime but will almost guarantee an increase in gun crime.
More Guns = Less Crime; Prof. John Lott has proof in his book by that name.
I am sure it will be totally ignored by the hysterical hoplophobes.

Good article but facts and logic are dismissed out of hand by liberals whose intellectual development stops short of the age of reason. They enjoy a lifelong mental age of 6 because no tiresome thinking is required. As for many of us on this site, distraught is the word. The country we grew up in no longer exists. Our freedoms are slipping away at an ever increasing rate. Bye.

There is no doubt that there are a bunch of liberal Democrat politicians out there who would like to legalize drugs and let all the drug criminals out of prison, thus creating a lot of empty beds in those prisons, then passing unconstitutional gun control laws and filling the empty prison beds with people who are now law abiding gun owners. That is not good and should be remembered during the next election.

Our ´rulers´ know what we know, that gun bans will only make crime worse. They simply do not care It´s all about preventing sheep from protesting being sheared. And I can easily see the above scenario coming into being, the jails emptied of junkies and filled with patriots.
There is no hell hot enough for the leftist statist pukes of this world. Their god, the state, cannot save them.

How will Obe arm his civilian army if he overrides the Bill of Rights? His pet panthers will be criminals and the boys of Chicago will have to indulge in hand to hand combat unless he has a FAST AND FURIOUS plan to arm them.

War On Terror: As jihadists bomb Boston, behead a soldier in London and firebomb police in Sweden, President Obama has decided America´s actions have offended them and it´s time to retreat. In arguably the weakest national security speech by a commander in chief, Obama denied Thursday that our terrorist enemy is inspired by Islam — while at the same time appeasing Islamic critics by apologizing for drone strikes and agreeing to throttle back on such precision bombings, and close down the terrorist prison at Guantanamo. He vowed to wind down further military actions in the war on terror,

Abuse Of Power: Any scandal investigation that expects a "Eureka!" moment, a White House e-mail, or Oval Office smoking gun will be misguided. In fact, the dots are already connected directly to the president. Barack Obama is not foolish enough to have a tape recording system hidden in his desk. And his administration staff are not careless enough to send one another incriminating e-mails. If the president was behind the IRS unlawfully harassing conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, we can be sure the communications were all sotto voce and in persona, like any good Chicago political operator.

Press Freedom: The president worries about the "chilling effect" of leak investigations as his attorney general signs the warrant labeling a Fox News reporter as a violator of the Espionage Act. The hypocrisy is breathtaking. ´I am troubled by the possibility that leak investigations may chill the investigative journalism that holds government accountable," President Obama said with a straight face in a speech Thursday at the National Defense University. "Journalists should not be at legal risk for doing their jobs." Indeed, investigative reporting should not be a criminal offense — just ask Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, whose digging unearthed Watergate.

First Amendment: Even Barack Obama´s cheerleaders are gagging at the latest news of spying on reporters. But will they also understand that this is just part of a much broader attack on freedom? The president told Ohio State graduates three weeks ago to tune out those who warn that "tyranny is always lurking just around the corner." Since then — pardon our paranoia — the news has been thick with warnings. First was the revelation that the Internal Revenue Service had been targeting conservative groups for extra scrutiny. Next came the news that the Department

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

RUSH: Here´s Mike in Greenville, North Carolina. Great to have you, sir, on Open Line Friday. Hi. CALLER: Thank you, sir. I really appreciate it, Mr. Limbaugh. It´s a pleasure to be on your show, and let me do two things. First of all, I´m saying from the good people of North Carolina to you, good health. And you can be forgiven for confusing an F-4 with an F-104, as far as I´m concerned. RUSH: I appreciate that, sir. Thank you for your understanding and your tolerance.

RUSH: It´s Open Line Friday. The greatest career risk taken in modern American big, major American media, turning the content of the program over to rank amateurs. Compared to me, highly trained broadcast specialist. And that´s when we go to the photocopies. On Friday, whatever you want to talk about is hunky-dory, so have at it. Whatever: question, comment, a brief sentence and a hang-up. If you want to call in protest, if you want to pretend you´re Code Pink. You know, how about that?

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.
