There is no nostalgia because everyone thought the Darts back in the 60s and 70s were really ugly. It was the second car for the housewife who cringed when she had to drive it. Modern buyers would rather have Toyotas and Hondas. There is nothing special about the new Dart that would make anyone run out and buy one, from what I´ve seen of the new design.

My dad did tv spots for Dodge dealers in the 50´s and 60´s. The ´65 Dart cost $1599, 99 down and 99 a month. Sold like crazy. It was very basic and reliable. Very little nostalgic or sentimental value to them. Makes no sense to bring the line back. What next the Coronet, the Monaco. I´ll keep my Nissans.

Rread a great review of this car the other day......the 1970(?) model lineup included the Dart Lite, and the ´Feather´ Duster. They got 36 mpg.
The New Dart? Gets..........36 MPG. Weighs almost 1,500 pounds more, costs almost $15K more and gets EQUAL mileage.

#5, my uncle bought a Dodge Coronet in October 1964... it was the 1965 model.
Had a 283 cu in engine, if I recall right.

We got that car from him later, circa 1983.
It ran great and we passed it on in 2003, looking sharp with new upholstery and paint.
We still had the original owner´s manual.
Sometimes people expressed interest when they saw it.

Another uncle in the 1960´s had a red Corvair he loved.
Boy did he hate Ralph Nader.

If you buy a new Dart, you´ll need a Dart Repair Kit. It´s a Toyota Tacoma truck, with the bed filled with money, that follows you around........

Those old Darts with the Slant Six engine were basically un-killable. The automotive equivalent of the cockroach, and just about as appealing.

My grandmother had a humongous 1972 Chrysler Newport that would have fit about three of those new Darts in the trunk.

Toyota and Honda are selling more and more cars and increasing their marketshare.

The TV ads looked interesting. But the "loss leader" price is deceiving. You´re looking at near $20k for one; too much in this uncertain economy. And who in their right mind would want to lease one?

Why do people want to buy cars manufactured by drunk, doped-up auto workers? Who knows what flaws lurk and which may be fatal!

I wonder how many, like myself, refuse to buy ANYTHING made by GM or Chrysler since their nationalization?

I don´t think there are many cars on the road today, more beautiful than the Dodge Challengers. That´s one "throwback" that was done right!
