| New York — Police in New York City plan to combat the theft of painkillers and other highly addictive prescription medicines by asking pharmacies around the city to hide fake pill bottles fitted with GPS devices amid the legitimate supplies on their shelves. The New York Police Department believes the so-called "bait bottles" could help investigators track stolen drugs and locate suspects. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly is expected to unveil the plan Tuesday at a La Quinta, Calif., conference on health issues hosted by former President Bill Clinton´s foundation. Thieves will simply dump the pills into plastic bags available at the pharmacy counter, the same way stolen purses and wallets are discarded immediately after the cash and credit cards have been removed.
Costly crime-prevention program foiled in a few seconds. Keep criminals locked away? Can´t do that. Turn in your guns, people; the police are there to protect you.

And this brilliant ´solution´ will cost consumers how much? Why not just punish the thieves more severely when caught? Oh, I forgot. The blue states and cities do not agree with Ronald Reagan about crime and personal responsibility. Which is why these places are fast becoming hell on earth.

Actually, this is a semi-intelligent idea. I may know criminal a little bit better than most, having a LEO background. Believe me, this project, if properly implemented will catch many thieves and may deter a few others. In the end, criminals will catch on and realize they can block the signals very easily (I won´t say how here). It won´t take the smarter one any time at all to thwart the tracer. However, the smarter criminals only account for a very small percentage of the overall crime element in our society. Most of them are just smash and grab idiots who don´t think two seconds past their next fix.

I now have been made aware of this why? If this was a real attempt to stop crime wouldn´t it be important not to let the "bad guys" know that a trap has been set? If I know, what keeps them from knowing? Saw the story on TV, FOX, so literacy isn´t a firewall. Or is it that publicity covering the apearence of action is the goal.

One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
