The Increasingly Execrable Colin Powell
American Spectator, by Quin Hillyer

Original Article

Jennifer Rubin does a nice take-down here of the increasingly despicable Colin Powell, who smeared his former party on Meet the Press by accusing Republicans of a “dark vein of intolerance.” Thus says the first black Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff, the first black Secretary of State, the sometime mentor of the first black woman to serve as Secretary of State… all under Republican sponsorship. Thus says the back-stabbing lout who deliberately let the innocent Scooter Libby twist in the wind, and then get convicted, when one word from Powell would have ended the investigation.

He was a lousy general, too. We wouldn´t want to beat the Iraquis. The moslems might get offended. Better quit and pull back.

It grows *extremely* tedious watching the left repeatedly trot out ´race´ as an absolute defense against valid criticisms...

But hey - deflection is the name of the game in modern ´race relations´. It´s the ´get out of personal accountability´ card of the new millennium...

Was the General not at the airport reception of the Benghazi bodies? I thought I read that somewhere. If so, it shows how deep he is in with O and Hil. I would assume he was on the Dem payroll while working for the Bushes too.

Really, who called him names? That is all part of the game right? Any criticism is racist? Powell betrayed the Bush Family, who did nothing but support him. What a jerk. there, I called him a name. I am part of the "dark" underbelly of the Republican party.

Being black supersedes integrity, morals, character and all logical thoughts or previous positions stated or taken.

It is hardwired into the DNA....so whenever a black is challenged or otherwise called out, blackness always is an escape.

"Now all of my previous statements, positions held or my support of any cause cannot be held against me ´cause I am black and will automatically revert to the racism charge when challenged...but you know I do have some white friends."

General Powell served honorably while in Viet Nam. Since them he seems to be bent on qualifying for two of the three descriptions of the White Feather Award.

Powell can be excused for his abrupt cessation of the first Iraq war.

He and Bush were agreed that a lesson from Viet Nam was to avoid a long and gradual escalation toward an undefined objective; hence the "Powell doctrine" of, go in with overwhelming force, win decisively, and at a preordained point, quit. That plan was well conceived and appropriate, and was executed well by the General.

Unfortunately, Powell subsequently made the mistake that his successor, General Schwarzkopf recognized and avoided; good generals are rarely good politicians (Ike excepted, in some minds).

He should have retired to his memoirs.

I doubt he believes what he said. This is about advancing Colin.

IMO Powell wants a big job, preferably in the administration. And only Obama and the Democrats can make that happen.

He is permanently distrusted by the GOP. For good reasons.

Or, failing an appointment by Obama. he would like to head an important university, think tank, or non-profit. Again that won´t happen if the Democrats oppose it.

So Colin now trashes the GOP every chance he gets and in any way he can.

Talk racial angst being close to the surface!

Powell reminds me of this black kid (23 or so) waiting for the local library to open this morning. As soon as I walk up--old white guy in khakis and a dress shirt--he starts muttering to himself praising Obama for sticking it to those rich whites who need to be paying more taxes. Went back to my car to wait the few minutes for the place to open!

When Oprah Winfrey served on a Chicago jury in 2004, she couldn’t go to the bathroom attached to the jury room unless her fellow jurors sang to drown out the noise. One of the songs they sang was Kumbaya. When Alexis Sanchez used the bathroom in her college dorm, she brought her iPod with her. “I would blast it,” she says. “I would play ´D. A. N. C. Yes, it’s a bit early to talk about the 2016 election. It’s just too much fun not to do it. You’re welcome. With about 20 months to go before the Iowa precinct caucuses, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul lead the pack for the Republican presidential nomination. Meanwhile, former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton continues to hold a huge lead among Democrats, according to a Fox News poll released Wednesday. Three possible GOP candidates capture double-digit support among self-identified Republicans: Christie receives 15 percent, which puts him just ahead of Bush and

Washington -- Louisiana Democrat Sen. Mary Landrieu is in the middle of a storm. She is beset by well-funded forces on the right who sense the Gulf Coast Democrat´s vulnerability in trying to defend a Senate seat in a red state. On the left, she is trying to avoid being pulled down by the undertow of a president whose decline in approval ratings and controversial health care reform law might not play well with her state´s conservative sensibilities. She´s been buffeted by rough re-election fights before, and in previous successful bids for the state legislature, state treasurer´s office and eventually

A minister who dressed like Jesus and presided over virgins he called the "maidens" faces 59 counts of criminal sexual conduct involving underage girls he allegedly abused for years at a Minnesota religious camp. Fugitive Victor Arden Barnard, 52, is believed to be somewhere near Seattle or Tacoma, authorities said. A nationwide warrant has been issued for his arrest. The self-proclaimed "messiah" ran a compound in Minnesota´s northern Pine County, where ministered to a group of women and girls he referred to as "maidens." For several years, he routinely abused two girls sent to live with him at the ages of 12 and

Barack Obama called House Majority Leader Eric Cantor on Wednesday morning to discuss immigration. Following their conversation, Cantor issued a statement. THIS is what we need to hear more of from our Republican representatives: “Today, President Obama called me to discuss his desire for comprehensive immigration reform. The President called me hours after he issued a partisan statement which attacked me and my fellow House Republicans and which indicated no sincere desire to work together. After five years, President Obama still has not learned how to effectively work with Congress to get things done. You do not attack the very people you

Fear replaced communal atmosphere in Donetsk´s Jewish community as armed men handed out a leaflet Passover eve calling on Jews register their religion and property with the interim pro-Russian government or face deportation and loss of citizenship. A leaflet distributed in Donetsk, Ukraine calling for all Jews over 16 years old to register as Jews marred the Jewish community´s Passover festivities Monday (Passover eve), replacing them with feelings of concern. The leaflet demanded the city´s Jews supply a detailed list of all the property they own, or else have their citizenship revoked, face deportion and see their assets confiscated.

People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No
