| As the Marist poll from the Knights of Columbus suggests, most Americans are not joining Andrew Cuomo’s rallying cry for expanding abortion access, a priority of his administration this year. Most Americans, I suspect would be horrified if they realized 41 percent of children in New York City are aborted. When New Yorkers were polled about that in 2011, even 57 percent of pro-choice women thought the rate too high. Gov. Cuomo isn´t satisfied with this incredibly callous update to Manhattan´s Club 54. He wants greater access to abortions, including abortion as just another product alternative to birth control pills and condoms. Not a good way to view human life in an all ready cold, impersonal city.

The deadly twister that raked through Oklahoma did an estimated $2 billion in damage, which puts it on track to be the most expensive tornado in U.S. history. That’s the preliminary damage estimate the Oklahoma Insurance Department released Wednesday, two days after a monster twister flattened the city of Moore and killed 24 people, including nine children. The figure was double an earlier estimate. Insurance Department spokeswoman Calley Herth said the monetary damage caused by Monday’s tornado could be greater than the $2 billion in damage from the 2011 tornado that struck Joplin, Mo.

The union representing U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officials will officially oppose the proposed Senate immigration reform legislation on Monday, according to an advance statement obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The National Citizenship and Immigration Services Council (USCIS Council) says the legislation fails to address its top concerns about the current system, including the pressure on USCIS officers to approve visa applications without thorough review and the bureaucratic barricades that prevent them from coordinating with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officials. Sources say it is highly unusual for the USCIS Council to weigh in publicly on legislation.
