| Former President George H. W. Bush was released from a hospital in Texas today after a 52-day stay that started just after Thanksgiving because of breathing problems. Bush was admitted to The Methodist Hospital in Houston for a lingering case of bronchitis on Nov. 23, 2012, but a bacterial infection and a persistent cough kept him there much longer than expected. Doctors thought Bush, 88, would be ready to leave the hospital by Christmas, but on Dec. 23 he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit after what his spokesman called “a series of setbacks including a persistent fever.“

Glad he survived this one.
It´s a long stay, all right.
If you´ve ever been there with your elderly parents, you know it takes a lot out
of everybody sooner or later.
Thank goodness he can enjoy the mild weather in Texas.
You don´t want to go outside in the Arctic air. You´d be back in ICU, after icy breaks.

All the best to Mr. Bush, but 52 days in the hospital for an 88-year old??
I recently lost my Dad at age 90, and Mother at age 89 is not far behind. But neither was admitted to a hospital, and I have a hard time thinking why such a stay would be necessary or appropriate.

Leave #2 alone, I can just imagine what you would say if it was Carter. Nott many could afford such a stay nor would it be feasible. But he is an ex-president and they are afforded cadillac care. Glad he is doing well.

The current scene doesn´t look so great. We´ve got the Benghazi scandal, which Bob Woodward has compared to Watergate, we´ve got the IRS scandal, where Democratic members of Congress are saying the IRS director lied, we´ve got the FBI AP-snooping scandal, we´ve got the HHS "private donation" shakedown scandal, and, of course, there´s the still-unfolding Pigford scandal that has funneled billions to grifters.
