| By Thursday afternoon, it was clear that Vice President Joe Biden’s charms weren´t going to be enough to persuade the National Rifle Association to get on board with gun control legislation. Following a 95-minute summit at the White House, the NRA issued a curt press release vowing never to surrender. "We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment," the organization said. Instead, the nation’s leading gun group pledged to take its "commitment and meaningful

Of course I feel dirty for going to that site, however, upon reading the proposals, I would say most folks - wouldn´t have an issue with at least a half-dozen of them (prosecute those who try to purchase a gun illegally, add a 2nd serial number in a hard to access area of the gun (similar to hidden VIN numbers), background checks for gun store employees, database of the mentally ill for inclusion on Insta-check, investigate thefts of 5 or more guns, DoJ taskforce to combat gun trafficking (IRONIC - considering Fast & Furious!)).
The question is, why has BHO not done these things already?

When I read articles on ANY AND ALL issueS that appears to have an agenda. I try to look at the background of the writer. Also his or her connection to a group or magazine. In this case Mother Jones Mag. Which I seem to recall some of their connection past or present might have been Communist or at leasT Socialist.
Following is a encyclopedia description of Mother Jones Mag.
The magazine was named after Mary Harris Jones, called Mother Jones, an Irish-American trade union activist, opponent of child labor, and self-described "hellraiser". She was a part of the Knights of Labor,[8] the Industrial Workers of the World,[8] the Social Democratic Party,[8] the Socialist Party of America,[8] the United Mine Workers of America,[8] and the Western Federation of Miners.[8]
The stated mission of Mother Jones is to produce revelatory journalism that in its power and reach informs and inspires a more just and democratic world.[9]
Mother Jones is published by the Foundation for National Progress, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Mother Jones and the FNP are based in San Francisco, with other offices in Washington, D.C., and New York.

Wow, that´s some lede.
If there were any honesty at all at Mother Jones, it would read thus:
"By Thursday afternoon, it was clear that the NRA´s charms weren´t going to be enough to persuade Vice pResident Biden to get on board with respecting the 2nd Amendment."

I have a real problem with a database of the "mentally ill". Ever read the HIPPA declaration you get at the Dr´s office? Why not a national database, accessable to the government of all your mnedical records. What would constitute "mentally ill" sufficient to deny gun rights? Rampaging youretts syndrome? A severe dislike of high places, or irrational fear of spiders? IS someone who has been caught railing against the government in seemingly deranged fashion too dangerous to trust with firearms?
A criminal database I can understand, being convicted of a felony means you lose your rights to a firearm. But thats after a Judge and Jury say so. What if you enter an ER babbling incoherently hearing voices. Initial diagnosis is gonna be your off your rocker but months later they find out you had a complication due to a drug interaction. Are you ever going to get your name off that list?
WHo decides who goes on the list? The Dr? Are we going to turn even more law enforcement and social work responsibility to the MD´s? Would it require a hearing in front of a judge to get you on the list. I hope that at least that siple measure would be taken.
None of that would have stopped even one of the bad guys. A list is not the answer, it cannot be because one of the favoprite tools of tyrants is labeling enemies as mentally incompetant and locking them away. Too many envision the "mentally ill" list to be developed on tips from neighbors, observations of strangers and prying into private medical files "just in case".
No thanks.

All such trial balloons ignore the very simply written phrase: "... shall not be infringed." And that means period. No caveats.

Re #6: A national database of medical records is coming. It is mandated by the health control law (a.k.a Obamacare). All providers must implement Electronic Medical Records systems by 2014 or face penalties. And the systems must support standard interfaces so that data mining can be performed on them, supposedly for fraud audits but along with being a huge invasion of privacy its really a way to control who gets what health care. The data will used to by bureacrats to determine what types a care are appropriate (in other words they will be used my the death panels) and I have no doubt whatever that "studies" of the data will show that preferred victim groups such as blacks and gays are being underserved and providers will be sued and have to practice affirmative action medicine, and that just scratches the surface of the horrors hidden in the depths of health control law.

14 ways, is that so? Well I got one that over rules your 14. He ain´t got no authority over our guns in any way shape or form. If your state legislatures and in particular your county Sheriff, goes along with any gun grab, them they side with tyranny and deserve to be treated as domestic enemies.

In 2000, Ted Cruz was known only as a Texas-raised, Harvard-trained domestic policy adviser to the George W. Bush campaign. Bush was a two-term governor from a border state who was determined to fix what he saw as a broken, inhumane immigration system. Cruz helped craft the campaign’s immigration policy, which called for speeding up the application process, increasing the number of work visas, and allowing the relatives of permanent residents to visit the U.S. while their applicants were pending. “Family values don’t stop at the Rio Grande,” Bush used to say. Defense Department (DOD) officials decided to stop covering a certain form of physical therapy for the disable children of military members, despite an administrative judge’s ruling that the treatment is covered under the law. “For my daughter, this therapy means life, death or some horrible surgery, but she’s not alone — there are 27 other military families who use the center where Kaitlyn goes,” Jennifer Samuels told Military Times. DOD decided not to pay for a physical therapy program for

"Let´s face facts: the American media is in an abusive relationship with Obama." So marvelously said Dennis Miller on Fox New´s the O´Reilly Factor in a discussion about the Internal Revenue Service scandal Wednesday (video follows with transcript and absolutely no need for additional commentary): DENNIS MILLER: Nobody in the press is going to bear in on this. Let´s face facts: the American media is in an abusive relationship with Obama. They don´t quite know what to do. If you take the New York Times, you could refer to it as "Fifty Shades of Grey Lady."

The signs keep accumulating that the IRS scandal is worse than liberals are willing to concede. On Bill Press´s radio show yesterday, a reporter with left-leaning Politico told Press that the Internal Revenue Service dragging its feet on applications for tax-exempt status from tea party groups probably affected the outcome of last year´s election. (Video after the jump) Here´s what Politico´s Lauren French told Press (audio) -- PRESS: So, Lauren, you´ve been covering this IRS scandal. How big is it really? How serious is it really, do you think? FRENCH:

On Wednesday, CNN anchor Jake Tapper dug into the controversial way in which members of President Barack Obama’s administration have apparently tried to intimidate whistleblowers in the government and the journalists that would investigate their stories. Tapper said that some, including the New York Times editorial board, have described the administration’s actions as “threatening fundamental freedoms of the press.” He warned Obama’s supporters to remember the precedent his administration is setting when a Republican next occupies the Oval Office. Tapper noted that the scandal surrounding the subpoenaing of Fox News reporter James Rosen’s personal telephone and email

Even though 132 members of Congress sent former Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Douglas Shulman letters about the IRS targeting of conservative groups, Shulman reiterated Wednesday that he did not have the full story until the inspector general’s report came out. “In the two years that this targeting was taking place, did any member of Congress contact you? Write you? About this particular subject? Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan asked during a House Oversight hearing. “Did you get letters from Congress?”

The chief judge of the District’s federal court issued an unusual order Wednesday, apologizing to the public and the media for not making certain court documents widely available online. The gesture of transparency by U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth comes at a time when the Obama administration is under scrutiny for an unprecedented number of leak investigations, including one showing that the Justice Department had secretly probed the news-gathering activities of Fox News reporter James Rosen. The investigation of Rosen was first reported Monday, after The Washington

Former Rep. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.

There’s really no reason for the press to suggest that the recent slew of scandals involving the Obama administration — Benghazi, the AP phone-record seizure, the snooping in James Rosen’s e-mail, the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, and so on — are a confusing jumble. There is a very clear thread running through all of the administration’s actions: The U.S. deputy chief of mission in Libya, Gregory Hicks, says that he was told not to speak to a member of Congress about Benghazi without a State Department lawyer present, that he received a phone call from Hillary Clinton’s
