| According to a credible source with inside knowledge of the matter, the actual reason Andrew Sullivan and the Daily Beast are parting ways at the end of this month has nothing to do with some high-falutin´ "duty to try and see if we could help break some new ground" and "pioneer" a "solid future for web journalism." According to this source, who spoke exclusively with Breitbart News, the powers that be at the Daily Beast decided the traffic Sullivan´s Daily Dish delivered just wasn´t worth the price of holding on to him for another year.

I agree with #4. Back in the 1990s, sullivan was a sensible, analytical writer. Then he went on a sodomy crusade (he supports it) and it seemed to control every thought he had.
He became boring. (no pun intended)

Agree with #4. Sullivan used to be a moderate fiscal conservative who had some interesting viewpoints. Now he is a slobbering in-your-face liberal who substitutes genuine intelligent commentary with snarky insulting remarks that make him look very small. Good luck Andrew getting people to pay to read your crap.

Sullivan finally lost it when he went after Sarah Palin like a raving wino on a park bench. Something about her having a baby drove him absolutely crazy. He out and out lied about his new situation but when I found out he has FOUR assistants - not reporters - assistants that I just gave up and realized he´s nothing but a fake with a good vocabulary.

Why would they dump him? He follows all the rules of over-the-top misogyny toward Republican women. He prints wild conspiracy theories about anyone on the right. Why in the world would they want someone who so enthusiastically puts forth their narrative to leave their site?
I´m actually serious about that. It doesn´t make sense. If they´re trying to become a serious news source, they kind of missed that very short train.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says it wants as many as 20 percent of its workers to "telework," use an "alternative work schedule," or do both, in order to "reduce green house gas emissions," decrease "employee stress," and give these government workers more time for "planning and preparing healthy meals." So says one of the HHS "performance measures" detailed in an appendix to the department´s latest strategic plan. HHS´s performance measure "4.D.05" says: "Increase the percent employees on telework or on Alternative Work Schedule." Telework means working from home via phone and computer.

It is most often used by the powerful on anyone less powerful as a symbolic sacrifice. Steven Miller, the now former acting commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, is the latest victim of ritual sacrifice.
