| Vive la France. What else can one say to the news that the French are using their military might to push back al-Qaeda-linked Islamist rebels who have taken control of northern Mali–a vast region bigger than France itself? While the United Nations passed toothless resolutions and the U.S. expressed concern but did nothing, France’s President, Francois Hollande, acted. He has dispatched some 400 troops backed by helicopter gunships and fighter aircraft to stop the rebel advance, which threatened to engulf the part of Mali still held by the ramshackle government.

Well, if history is any indicator, and with France, it is fairly consistent- The Muslim Terrorists should be brushing off their surrender acceptance suits. Or, the peaceful, productive people of Mali should be planning a rapid evacuation of their country as the French will leave them high and dry after making solid commitments of ever-lasting support. I cite examples of Vietnam, Algeria, France itself, etc!

#1, France does put on airs, but I´m not sure we should be mocking them for their failure in Indo-China. Nor, for that matter, for having been defeated twice in the last 150 years by an enemy as formidable as Germany.

In 1958, I was stationed at Etain AFB in France, a wretched place. And DeGaulle had come back into power, and kicked out all of the Americans and closed those AF Bases.
At that time, Algerian filthy islamofascist terrorist pigs were fighting the French, and even tried to blow up the Eiffel Tower on a weekend I was in Paris.
The French simply gave up, and granted the pigs freedom.
I am puzzled by the French activity in Mali. It could only lead to trouble - there is no victory there.

The French took the Lead...While the Americans were behind them with their bayonets unsheathed... Wait! Obama is in the half-white house... the French will be trampled when Obama declares the Taliban is Defeated and runs for the door...because the American could only afford to issue one bandolier of Ammo to the Troops.

This is no doubt a cleverly-hatched plan by the French to damage the U.S. They´ll go in (as usual) with both guns and mouths blasting away until they´ve made an even bigger mess of things than they already are, then start whining for us to come help. At which point they´ll bow-out and leave us to fight yet another useless war. Don´t do it Barak - it´s a trap!

An IRS supervisor working in Washington told congressional investigators that she personally reviewed applications from groups for tax-exempt status, in testimony that appears to show the agency’s scrutiny of conservative groups extended beyond the confines of the office in Cincinnati. Holly Paz, who was a supervisor in the Internal Revenue Service’s tax-exempt status division, indicated during an interview with congressional investigators that she did review such applications, but indicated that she believed “tea party” meant political advocacy in general — not necessarily conservative groups.

The Supreme Court ruled today in Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council that federal law does not allow states the option of requiring voters to prove they are American citizens when they register to vote. The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA, or “Motor Voter”) creates a standardized national system for registering to vote in federal elections. An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
