Burglars Hit Home of Gun
Owner ID’d by Newspaper

Fox News, by Todd Starnes

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 1/14/2013 8:51:04 AM

The home of a gun owner, whose address was published by a New York newspaper, has been burglarized and a state lawmaker said it appears the burglars may have used the newspaper’s map to target the residence. “Luckily the gun was locked up and no one was hurt,” Sen. Greg Ball said. (Snip) The residence in White Plains, was identified in an interactive map that identified the names and addresses individuals who have gun permits. It was published by The Journal News — a Gannett Co. newspaper. The elderly homeowner, who legally owns weapons, was not at home

Comments:
No one could see that coming. s/o Judge Pirro was on Fox and said it would be a very difficult case if a lawsuit was filed. How terribly unfortunate.

Sue the living crap out of that newspaper!

It´s a shame the homeowner was not home. A lawsuit against the newspaper would have a better chance if it was brought by the relatives of a couple of dead burglars.

I hope they file suit against the newspaper company. I sure would if my name and address got published.

Reply 6 - Posted by: Grampy, 1/14/2013 9:17:53 AM     (No. 9115340)

The original story of the paper´s exposition and this account are in my opinion high profile enough for a bright young lawyer to file a lawsuit against the paper pro bono, even if it might be difficult to win. It would tie up the resources of the paper significantly.

Newspaper being sued for publishing public information, going to get tossed out of court.

If this pans out, it would seem to me the publishers of that information aided the robbers as if they were there helping break down the door. Hope they get nailed. We have a constitutional crisis on our hands. The second amendment protection is being underutilized as much as the first over.

Reply 10 - Posted by: killerbee, 1/14/2013 10:45:25 AM     (No. 9115541)

If the criminals admit that they used info from the paper to target the home specifically to steal guns, a lawsuit is necessary.

And what was the purpose of gun registration again?

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg used a commencement speech to push his gun-control agenda, telling graduates of Kenyon College in Ohio that gun control is “something you really should think about.” Bloomberg, who co-chairs Mayors Against Illegal Guns, spent at least $14 million in support of legislation that would have required universal background checks for all gun-buyers. Although the bill died in the Senate on April 17, Bloomberg said the battle isn´t over. “I believe we will win, sooner or later, because I believe that all of you, your generation more than any other at least

Now that Hillary Clinton no longer has a nonpartisan badass day job, the universe is reverting back to its natural state in which Clinton is a controversial figure with a complicated past and more than a few enemies as well as the symbol of some people´s anxieties about women in power. The excuses to engage in the old Hillary Clinton narratives today come in the form of a biopic titled Rodham, which shows the former secretary of state´s early relationship with Bill Clinton in a not totally flattering light, and a report on her 2008 campaign aides by

Swamped in controversies, President Obama and his slow-footed team are essentially telling the American public, “We’re not crooked. We’re just incompetent.” The IRS targeting conservatives, the Justice Department snooping at The Associated Press, the State Department injecting politics into Benghazi, the military covering up sexual assaults, and the Department of Veterans Affairs leaving heroes in health care limbo – each of these so-called scandals share two traits. First, there is some element of “spin," the cynical art of telling just enough of the truth to avoid political embarrassment. Obfuscation and demagogy, the dirty tools of political quackery that

Delivering her only speech at a high school graduation this year, first lady Michelle Obama joked about the failures her husband, President Obama, has encountered in life as she told a graduating class of high school seniors in Nashville, Tenn. today that in order to achieve success in life, they must first experience failure. “When something doesn’t go your way, you’ve just got to adjust. You’ve got to dig deep and work like crazy, and that’s when you’ll find out what you’re really made of during those hard times, but you can only do that

Shortly before the second-term inauguration of Barack Obama this January, I wrote the following of my worries over the Obama way of doing business: But the untruths and hypocrisy hover in the partisan atmosphere and incrementally and insidiously undermine each new assertion that we hear from the president — some of them perhaps necessary and logical. Indeed, the more emphatically he adds “make no mistake about it,” “let me be perfectly clear,” “I’m not kidding,” or the ubiquitous “me,” “my,” and “I” to each new assertion, the more a growing number of people will come to know

The idea that Nancy Pelosi would again become Speaker after the 2014 elections was always something of a Democrat fantasy. It may be a good story to get a lefty to sleep at night, but it wasn´t likely to happen. In the last 100 years, only once has a President´s party picked up seats in the sixth year of a term. Redistricting in 2011 has put many of the seats the Democrats need out of reach. Whatever confluence of events Democrats envisioned would allow them to retake the House have been swept aside by the IRS scandal.

The intrepid Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News has been one of the few reporters attempting to dig deep into controversial stories, stories that President Obama would rather see go away. But after her work on Fast & Furious and Benghazi, she is now reporting that she´s been shut out of the information loop by the White House. Attkisson was one of the few members of the progressive media establishment interested in covering the Fast & Furious scandal, as well as the Benghazi. She has been so far reaching in her work that she was dubbed a "persistent voice

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
