Rapid reaction: Ravens beat Broncos

Rapid reaction from the Ravens´ 38-35 double overtime victory over the Broncos, viewing it from a Patriots’ perspective: Stunning turn of events. The winner of Sunday’s Patriots-Texans divisional-round playoff game will now host the AFC Championship game (6:30 p.m. ET) as a result of the fourth-seeded Ravens shocking the top-seeded Broncos. Few saw this result coming. If the Patriots beat the Texans, it sets up a rematch of last year’s AFC title game. Ravens’ mental toughness shines. Few gave the Ravens a realistic chance to win, but their big-play offense and veteran defense helped overcome

What heartbreaker for the Broncos and Peyton Manning.

Tebow has better playoff record with the Broncos than Manning.

Great game for Baltimore in weather that only the Broncos and Packers are used to, as well as playing a mile high. Baltimore should have asked the Broncos "miss Tebow yet?"

After the way the Broncos treated Tebow, they deserved this. I hope Elway is happy with his great pick who threw two interceptions and fumbled once.

Announcers were stunned not once but FOUR times when the refs made clearly the wrong call on plays that dramatically altered the game.
Shame on the Broncos performance, but not since the replacement refs have I seen a game called so poorly.

The officiating was awful. I´ll admit that the there were some bad plays called by the Broncos but the bad calls were what gave the win to the despicable Ravens. Sorry....not a fan of any of the Harbaugh brothers teams.

Enjoyed watching the tweets by Broncos fans.

Rage at Elway

Rage at Fox

Unhappy with Manning and Karim Moore.

Fans gloating because of the way Elway and Fox treated Tebox.

Lots of fans missing Tebow.

Me too!

All these people who hate Tebow must just hate to win because that´s what he does- win ball games . Some people are just satisfied with pretty stat lines and losing. I hope the Raiders go after Tebow. It would be a perfect fit.

Congrats to Peyton Manning--all-time greatest playoff choke-job artist in NFL history. Way to go!

Can´t wait to listen to him blame his teammates again. Fortunately Peyton now has plenty of to do commercials (obviously his first love).

Go Texans and Falcons (Red State America teams).

We might try to be at least a little bit fair: Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks ever to play the game. It would have been terrific if Tebow could have been his backup -- to sit and learn at the feet of a great player.

Tonight´s game was one of the best I´ve ever seen. I´m not a fan of either team, but very much enjoyed watching it.

Saying bad things about a team or a player doesn´t make your favorite team or favorite player any better.

35 seconds left.... 3rd & 5 for a "gotta have it" first down... defense has to be playing the prevent... and not one, but TWO defensive backs allow the receiver to get behind them.
#36 for Broncos looked like he was backpedaling with two full-length casts on his legs on that tying TD.
So to OT they go... and Manning... GAG.
Well, that´s in keeping with his playoff record, which, going into today, was no better than .500

I´ll bet it suddenly felt like -30 degrees in that stadium as that winning field goal went through the uprights.

Peyton Manning will be voted into the Canton HOF during this decade. Tebow, whose QB skills
are way beyond embarrassing, is out of work in the NFL, as of today.

Lost respect for Elway and co. when they didn´t have the character or self-respect to tell Tebow in person that he was gone last season... He learned it from the press...

As above poster said, Denver should have kept Timmy to learn from Peyton and be his backup... [Remind me what he learned from Sanchez or Ryan...]. Glad tweeters called Fox and Elway out on this ... Love Peyton [taught his mom in ladies´ Sunday School back on St Charles Ave, New Orleans], just no love or respect for Broncos´ mgmt...

Ravens played a better game ... Flacco´s 60-yard completion late was unreal! And the consistent gains of Ray Rice on first and second downs... made me want to see another 4th and 29, like at Qualcomm, Nov 25!

Kudos to Ray Lewis and defense... as well... They have the Spirit and Big Mo!

Good excuse, but no one believes it. LOL

As with most games, the refs did make some goofy calls but overall the results benefited both teams. It was a great game when you consider the fact that 10 touchdowns were scored in sub-zero conditions. The only field goal was the game winner. I do question whoever made he decision not to let Peyton go for on third and 4-5 yards on their last drive.
With the Broncos out and the Packers losing , I´ll probably get more done around the house in the next few weeks.

Sending scores of armed agents along with helicopters and dogs to confront an elderly Nevada rancher over grazing fees may seem like overkill, but critics say it’s not inconsistent with the federal government’s recent approach to environmental enforcement. The simmering truce between the Bundys and the Bureau of Land Management comes after high-profile raids last year by armed federal agents on small-time gold miners in tiny Chicken, Alaska, and guitar makers at the Gibson Guitar facilities in Tennessee. That doesn’t include more subtle threats, such as recent efforts by the Obama administration to raise grazing fees or pressure

Rep. Joe Garcia (D-Fla.) is among the Democrats pressing Congress to take up immigration reform. On Tuesday, he told a conference call that deportations are breaking families apart and leaving children in foster care. "So the human toll has been horrific. This president, by implementation of existing law, has been forced to deport a huge number of Americans." Although Garcia may consider the deportees to be "Americans," legally they are not. But they might become citizens if Garcia and other immigration advocates get their way. Democrats are urging Republicans to sign their discharge petition, which would force a House vote on

Key members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform expressed outrage at revelations made in newly released emails showing ex-IRS official Lois Lerner coordinating with the Department of Justice on prosecuting nonprofit groups. One committee member said the emails prove why the IRS is “scared to give up the rest of Lois Lerner’s emails.” IRS commissioner John Koskinen was recently threatened with contempt for stonewalling the committee’s investigation. Koskinen claimed in a hearing that it could take years to provide the documents requested by Oversight. “The release of new documents

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

Thank God for Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration J. Russell George. His investigation of what turned out to be the IRS abuse scandal may well have saved the Constitution and the nation. For his fair and impartial investigation into the Internal Revenue Service’s abuse of Americans who dissent from President Obama’s agenda, Democrats have called for an investigation of him. George should not be investigated, but perhaps the Democrats who want him investigated — Reps. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) and Matt Cartwright (D-PA) — should be. Their call for an investigation of the investigator might constitute interference with the ongoing investigation

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as
